Radial Basis Function Network Based Predictive Control of Chaotic Nonlinear Systems

  • As a technical method for controlling chaotic dynamics, this paper presents a predictive control for chaotic systems based on radial basis function networks(RBFNs). To control the chaotic systems, we employ an on-line identification unit and a nonlinear feedback controller, where the RBFN identifier is based on a suitable NARMA real-time modeling method and the controller is predictive control scheme. In our design method, the identifier and controller are most conveniently implemented using a gradient-descent procedure that represents a generalization of the least mean square(LMS) algorithm. Also, we introduce a projection matrix to determine the control input, which decreases the control performance function very rapidly. And the effectiveness and feasibility of the proposed control method is demonstrated with application to the continuous-time and discrete-time chaotic nonlinear system.

  • The purpose of this study is to examine factors on wage of the Disabled. This study attempts to identify organizational effects on wage of the disabled. Then, this study adopts hierarchical linear model for the study purpose. Data used for this article is the survey on the vocational rehabilitation facilities in Seoul. The results are as follows. First, wage of the disabled is different from organizations as well as individuals. So, there are necessities in the consideration of organizational effects and the application of hierarchical linear model. Second, effects on wage of the disabilities controlling individual factors such as age, educational level, period using the facilities, sex, whether or not beneficiary, type of disability are different from organization. Finally, there are interaction effects of type of disability and organizational character variables. The implications of these findings are as follows. First, more political concerns should be given on the management of vocational rehabilitation facilities. Second, it is needed to concern about vocational rehabilitation of the mentally disabled.

An Analytical Modeling for Bridging Stress Function Involving Grain Size Distribution in a Polycrystalline Alumina (다결정 알루미나에서 결정립 크기 분포를 포함하는 Bridging 응력함수의 해석적 모델링)

  • A new analytical model which can discribe the relationship between the bridging stress and the crack opening displacement was proposed to investigate the microstructural effect on the R-curve behavior in a polycrystalline alumina. The crack opening displacement according to the distance behind the stationary crack tip was measured using in-situ fracture technique in an SEM, and then used for a fitting procedure to obtain the distribution of bridging stress. The current model and an empirical power law relation were introduced into the fitting procedure. The results indicated that the bridging stress function and R-curve computed by the current model were consistent with those computed by the power law relation. The microstructural factor, e.g., the distribution of grain size, was also found to be closely related to the bridging stress. Thus, this model explained well the interaction effect between the distribution of bridging stress and the local-fracture-controlling microstructure, providing important information for the systematic interpretation of microfracture mechanism including R-curve behavior of a monolithic alumina.

  • In this paper, we investigated 2-DOF haptic device and the method of virtual environment modeling for virtual reality. We designed an modified five bar link system to improve the performance. The haptic control system is composed of calculating kinematics and statics, controlling actuator, and describing the virtual environment. Using this system, we realized the virtual spring model and the freely falling ball model.

  • The company was focusing on production which was partial mission rather than acquiring the information of customer in intensive process industry. The company accepted loss which is from over-production, losing of opportunity. After changing to Web environment, supply chain is more complicated and need of customer is more various. As a result the company hard works on controlling production rates, production quantities in production area and gathering exact information which is about available resource and available quantities. Cooperated demand planning have to get decreasing of inventory, improving of customer service in supply chain management. Specially demand planning that considers allocation of capacity is executed in Iron-Industry. Demand planning must be classified by customer, region and supply position level.

  • In this paper, a novel speed control system that implements the fuzzy logic controller(FLC) is proposed. Fuzzy controller is shown more excellent efficency than a conventional controllers in the strength aspect and non-linear controller using IF-THEN rule which can control without process the accurate mathematical modeling about induction motor. But we cannot expect that conventional fuzzy controller divide equally the space of input and output parameter and use the certain shape of triangle membership function. Therefore to develop the efficiency of conventional fuzzy controller, We need to scale the range of membership functions. In this study, proposed fuzzy controller has the ability controlling scale of membership functions using by output scaling factor.

  • The Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controller is still the most widespread control strategy in the industry. PID controllers have gained popularity due to their simplicity, better control performance and excellent robustness to uncertainties. This paper presents the optimal tuning of a PID controller for domestic induction heating systems with a series resonant inverter for controlling the induction heating power. The objective is to design a stable and superior control system by tuning the PID controller with a derivative filter (PIDF) through Fuzzy logic. The paper also compares the performance of the Fuzzy PIDF controller with that of a Ziegler-Nichols PID controller and a fine-tuned PID controller with a derivative filter. The system modeling and controllers are simulated in MATLAB/SIMULINK. The results obtained show the effectiveness and superiority of the proposed Fuzzy PID controller with a derivative filter.

Intelligent modeling to investigate the stability of a two-dimensional functionally graded porosity-dependent nanobeam

  • Using a combination of nonlocal Eringen as well as classical beam theories, this research explores the thermal buckling of a bidirectional functionally graded nanobeam. The formulations of the presented problem are acquired by means on conserved energy as well as nonlocal theory. The results are obtained via generalized differential quadrature method (GDQM). The mechanical properties of the generated material vary in both axial and lateral directions, two-dimensional functionally graded material (2D-FGM). In nanostructures, porosity gaps are seen as a flaw. Finally, the information gained is used to the creation of small-scale sensors, providing an outstanding overview of nanostructure production history.

  • Microprecision agriculture for a fully controlled plant factory is proposed in this paper. Microprecision agriculture can be attained by using plant factories to realize profitable alternative agriculture. A closed, fully controlled, plant-growing factory is far better in terms of minimizing all sorts of waste. The limit and optimum design concept has to be applied to establish an economically feasible, fully controlled, plant-growing factory. To achieve this objective, microprecision technologies have to be developed. Microprecision technologies should be involved in sensing, modeling, controlling, and collecting information for the mechatronics for plant production. Basic technologies for microprecision are already available; they are SPA (speaking plant approach to environmental control), AI (artificial intelligence: expert systems, neural networks, genetic algorithms, photosynthetic algorithms etc.), bioinstrumentation, non-invasive measurement, biomechatronics, and biorobotics. A microprecision irrigation system for plug production is an example of a microprecision technology that has actually been implemented in a plug seedling production factory.

  • The mechanics, electronics and manufacturing technology have been developed rapidly. Nowadays vehicle stability becomes more and more important then ABS (Anti-lo7k Brake System), ASR (Anti-Slip Regulator), TCS, (Traction Control System), ESP (Electronic Stability Program), and VDC (Vehicle Dynamic Control) which actively control the vehicle stability actively has been improved. In this study, instead of automatic transmission, CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission) is used because of the continuously gear ratio changes. It can effectively transfer the torque from engine to tire more than other gear transmission. The modeling is simplified assuming that there are no resistance parameters.
