Active Vibration Control of Automotive Engine Mount Using MR Fluid and Piezostack (MR 유체와 압전 작동기를 이용한 자동차 엔진 마운트의 능동진동제어)

  • This paper presents vibration control of an active hybrid engine mount featuring magneto-rheological (MR) fluid and a piezostack actuator. On the basis of the conventional passive rubber mount, MR fluid is adopted to improve isolation performance at resonant frequencies, whereas the piezostack actuator is adopted for performance improvement at non-resonant frequencies, especially at high frequencies. Based on some particular practical requirements of engine mounts, the proposed mount is designed and manufactured. The characteristics of rubber element, piezostack actuator and MR fluid are verified for system analysis and controller synthesis. The model of the proposed mount with a supported mass (engine) is established. In this work, a sliding mode controller is synthesized for the mount system to reduce vibrations transmitted from the engine in a wide frequency range. Computer simulations are performed to evaluate the performances of the proposed active engine mount in time and frequency domains.

Estimation of Wall Wetting Fuel at Intake Port and Model Based Prediction A/F in a S.I. Engine (가솔린 엔진에서 액막 연료량 추정 및 이를 이용한 공연비 예측에 관한 연구)

  • According to the stringent exhaust emission regulation, precise control of air fuel ratio is one of the most important issues on gasoline engine. Although many researches have been carried out to identify the fuel transport phenomena in a port fueled gasoline engine, complexity of fuel film behavior in the intake port makes it difficult. The fuel film behavior was investigated recently by using visualization method and these gave us qualitative understanding. The purpose of this study is to estimate of wall wetting fuel in the intake port and the inducted fuel mass was predicted by using wall wetting fuel model . The model coefficient($\alpha$,$\beta$) and fuel film mass on the port wall were determined from measured in-cylinder HC concentration using FRFID after injection off. The fuel film mass was increased, but $\alpha$(ratio of directly inducted fuel mass into cylinder from injected fuel mass) was decreased with increasing load at the same engine speed. $\beta$is nearly constant value(0.8~0.9). when injected fuel mass is varied at 1500rpm , the calculated air fuel ratio using well wetting fuel model was nearly the same as measured by UEGO.

  • An algorithm of fuzzy variable structrue control is proposed to design a closed loop fuel-injection system for the emission control of automotive gasoline engines. Fuzzy control is combined with sliding control at the switching boundary layer to improve the chattering of the stoichiometric air to fuel ratio. Multi-staged fuzzy rules are introduced to improve the adaptiveness of control system for the various operating conditions of engines, and a simplified technique of fuzzy inference is also adopted to improve the computational efficiency based on nonfuzzy micro-processors. The proposed method provides an effective way of engine controller design due to its hybrid structure satisfying the requirements of robustness and stability. The great potential of the fuzzy variable structure control is shown through a hardware-testing with an Intel 80C186 processor for controller and a typical engine-only model on an AD-100 computer.

  • This paper formally defines a role-driven security and access control model of a business process in order eventually to provide a theoretical basis for realizing the secured business process management systems. That is, we propose a graphical representation and formal description of the mechanism that generates a set of role-driven security and access control models from a business process modeled by the information control net(ICN) modeling methodology that is a typical business process modeling approach for defining and specifying business processes. Based upon the mechanism, we are able to design and accomplish a secured business process management system that provides an unified resource access control mechanism of the business process management engine domain's and the application domain's. Finally, we strongly believe that the secured access control policies from the role-driven security and access control model can be easily transformed into the RBAC(Role-based Access Control) model that is a standardized security technology for computer and communications systems of commercial and civilian government organizations.

  • This paper describes a 3-DOF attitude control of a small model helicopter in hover through explicit decoupling and adaptive control scheme. A model helicopter mounted on gimbal-stand is considered as a system that has 3 independent SISO systems representing motions about roll, pitch and yaw axis and these subsystems are identified from the test flight data. In this consideration, the contribution of others to yaw channel is neglected since it is relatively small. Two PID controllers based on Ziegler-Nichols method are designed for roll pitch channels independently. Also, adaptive fuzzy tuner is designed and applied to those PID controllers to cope with coupling effects between each channel and system uncertainties due to variation of engine RPM.   • The selective catalytic reduction (SCR) system is a highly-effective aftertreatment device for NOx reduction of diesel engines. Generally, the ammonia ($NH_3$) was generated from reaction mechanism of SCR in the SCR system using the liquid urea as the reluctant. Therefore, the precise urea dosing control is a very important key for NOx and $NH_3$ slip reduction in the SCR system. This paper investigated NOx and $NH_3$ emission characteristics of urea-SCR dosing system based on model-based control algorithm in order to reduce NOx. In the map-based control algorithm, target amount of urea solution was determined by mass flow rate of exhaust gas obtained from engine rpm, torque and $O_2$ for feed-back control NOx concentration should be measured by NOx sensor. Moreover, this algorithm can not estimate $NH_3$ absorbed on the catalyst. Hence, the urea injection can be too rich or too lean. In this study, the model-based control algorithm was developed and evaluated on the numerical model describing physical and chemical phenomena in SCR system. One channel thermo-fluid model coupled with finely tuned chemical reaction model was applied to this control algorithm. The vehicle test was carried out by using map-based and model-based control algorithms in the NEDC mode in order to evaluate the performance of the model based control algorithm.

  • This paper presents models for the dynamic simulation of a regenerative gas turbine and describes dynamic behaviors of a small regenerative engine. A quasi-steady model is introduced where the inertia of the working fluid is assumed to be negligible compared with the mechanical inertia of the rotating shaft. Based on this quasi-steady model, the transient model for the heat exchanger is employed to simulate the unsteady heat exchange in the recuperator. The effect of the thermal inertia of the recuperator metal on transient behaviors is analyzed by comparing the predicted results of the transient and steady state heat exchanger models. For several load change modes such as sudden increase, decrease and periodic variation, engine dynamic characteristics are investigated by applying a fuel control logic for the constant shaft speed. It is found that the thermal inertia of the recuperator metal has a dominant effect on the whole engine dynamic behavior.

Development of Simulation Model Based Optimal Start and Stop Control Daily Strategy (시뮬레이션 모델기반 냉난방 설비 일별 최적 기동/정지 제어기법 개발)

  • This work aims to develop a platform to investigate the effect of operation schedules on the building energy consumption and to derive a simulation model based optimal start and stop daily strategy. An open-source building energy simulation tool DOE2 is used for the engine, and the developed simulation model is validated using ASHRAE guideline 14. The effect of late-start/early-stop operation of HVAC system on the daily building energy consumption was analyzed using the developed simulation model. It was found that about 10% of energy consumption cut was possible using the control strategy for an hour of advance of the stop operation, and about 3% per an hour of delay of the start operation.

  • We investigate a systematic design procedure of automatic rule generation of fuzzy logic based controllers for highly nonlinear dynamic systems such as an engine dynamic modle. By "automatic rule generation" we mean autonomous clustering or collection of such meaningful transitional relations from one conditional subspace to another. During the design procedure, we also consider optimaly control strategies such as minimum squared error, near minimum time, minimum energy or combined performance critiera. Fuzzy feedback control systems designed by our method have the properties of closed-loop stability, robustness under parameter variabitions, and a certain degree of optimality. Most of all, the main advantage of the proposed approach is that reliability can be potentially increased even if a large grain of uncertainty is involved within the control system under consideration. A numerical example is shown in which we apply our strategic fuzzy controller dwsign to a highly nonlinear model of engine idling speed control.d control.

  • Hybrid Electronic Vehicle (HEV) is one of the solutions of high oil price and environment problem. Recently, study of HEV is important for automobile industry. However HEV has a lot of components and there are many cases for assembling, it's impossible to test results from assembling by using real vehicles. To solve this problem, hybrid system simulator is required. The purpose of this study is to develop and optimize of engine module for hybrid system simulator. The commercial 1-D engine simulation program, WAVE is used to get the engine capacity and performance data and 1-D simulation model of base engine is compared with engine experiment results. Using the data, the engine module is developed based on the MATLAB Simulink. There are blocks of base engine, Single-CVVT engine and Dual-CVVT engine. The effect of acceleration and deceleration is applied to each engine block. In addition, the control and processing logics for CIS technology are developed. Finally the simulator operates FTP-72 mode test.
