  • Today, executives in the company operate their organizations under highly competitive environments with dynamic technological, economic, and political changes. Under these new environment changes, they play the important role in establishing the future directions and strategic orientations of organizations. In general, executive information systems (EIS) are designed to support these roles of executives. They can help executives access and use the information they require about the organization's internal and external environments. In spite of such potential EIS support for executives, only a limited number of empirical studies have been published in this area. by employing a well-established theory of computer usage behavior (Technology Acceptance Model : TAM), this study systematically investigates the key factors in the successful utilization of an EIS. The empirical results from this study may prove useful for both IS researchers and practitioners.

  • Executive information systems (EIS) developers are faced with an increasingly difficult choice problem in the evaluation and selection of software packages. For many reasons, they frequently must depend on identification and evaluation of features of packages. When EIS software evaluation is regarded as an unstructured or semi-structured group decision making problem, the most appropriate decision-aiding methods are needed to help effective group interaction. This paper examines evaluation criteria of full-featured EIS packages and considers the priority of these criteria using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). Two exploratory phases are presented. In the first phase, an approach combining the AHP with the linear weighted attribute method is presented to computer qualities of some packages. In the second phase, the decision making group includes EIS developers, users, and vendors to prioritize evaluation criteria.

The objective of this study is to identify which decision criteria lead to replacement decision of core baning system in spite of its huge investment and accompanying business risk. For the study, we conducted a survey to 64 decision makers working in banks and IT service companies, and analysed the data using factor analysis and multi-regression analysis method of SPSS. As a result, we extracted statistically valid decision model with 4 major decision criteria, which are IT external, IT internal, IT ecology and Executive's will factor. Among them, we concluded only IT internal and IT ecology criteria give significant influence over the replacement decision of existing core banking system.

This research seeks to formulate the opportunities and challenges, the strengths and weaknesses and the perceived benefits of RFID implementation in three industries: manufacturing, medical-service, and distribution. Ten companies of successful RFID deployment in Korea are presented. Field interview and panel discussion were used to explore the research purpose. The core challenges include RFID readability issues, lack of best practices, increasing prime cost, visible ROI, implementation cost, and employee's resistance. The strengths include IT infrastructure, system integration competency, RFID business model creation ability, executive's support. There is little weakness in Korea companies, there are many perceived benefits in three industries. The most distinctive finding is that the visible ROI was found out in the manufacturing industry, not in the distribution industry. The opportunities and challenges, the strengths and weaknesses and the perceived benefits are some different in three industries, which provide valuable guidance for Korean companies in seeking the RFID opportunities. This case study represents a pioneer research of RFID adoption in Korea.

Then we discuss some positioning strategies for entering or joining a virtual enterprise from an executive's viewpoint. which show a framework for making decisions on for what. when and how a (real) enterprise need to participate or form a virtual enterprise and whom the partners should be. The major pert of the paper is on underlying information technologies and architectures for building virtual enterprises. Requirements for modeling virtual enterprises and core technologies needed for implementation are discussed. A virtual enterprise reference architecture based on NIIIP's model is presented. Finally we discuss some points that should. addressed from a macroeconomic and public policies viewpoints. These are the issues of IT standardization and investments in IT infrastructure.

  • The government has done much investment and its efforts to prevent the accident in the construction industry owing to the high rate of accident and the dangerous factors, but it is not improved the level of safety activities as desired. On the contrast, after adopted quality management system and environment management system in the advanced countries, they are developing the safety management system consequently and achieving high efficiency in this field. Although Korea executed the KISCO 2000 program by Korea Industrial Safety Corporation since July 1, 1999, it was excepted to the construction industry. Therefore, it is urgent matter to be developed the safety management system being applied to the construction industry. In this study, it was developed the safety management system in the construction industry, and suggested its documentation and an executive method according to the construction safety works.

  • This study was designed to investigate the correlation between perceived TQM performance and organizational culture of dietitians. The objective of the study is to help the management of foodservice by providing a direction which will elevate perceived TQM performance of dietitians and presenting plans which will ensure effective dietitians. Questionnaires handed out to 308 dietitians worked in institutional foodservice operation including elementary, middle and high schools, hospitals, business and industries. In terms of TQM importance and performance, the more important dietitians perceived, the higher their performance level rose. Data form the IPA, external and internal customer satisfaction, executive ability, communication system and technology, information technology and application ability, food process, strategy, and leadership were required further improvement by dietitians. Of present organizational culture model, human relations model and open systems model were more likely to be adopted by dietitians in middle and high schools. According to the type of foodservice management, the open systems model was more preferred by dietitians from self-operated operations rather than respondents from contracted operations. Canonical correlation analysis between TQM performance and organizational culture showed canonical correlation to be higher (canonical correlations coefficient: .66). In conclusion, TQM performance-organizational culture showed higher canonical correlation. In the organizational culture, foodservice operation is capable of improving the aims for the rational goal model and the open systems model. The results showed that TQM performance and organizational culture had significant relationship, especially positive organizational culture emphasizing on internal process and rational goal model would have influence on TQM performance of dietitians. Foodservice operation, however, should recognize importance of open and development culture to improve dietitians' TQM performance. To apply open system foodservice organization should encourage dietitian and foodservice employees to challenge and compete for the works, Moreover, organizational effort such as information exchange program and support system should be established.

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to propose a methodology for the urban regeneration by constructing contemporary publicness. Beginning with researching on the theoretical fundamentals about publicness and urban regeneration, it introduces the examples to analyze the spatial characteristics of publicness in the contemporary urban architecture, and finally simulates a model for the formation of space through a real work. Method: The study is partially based on the Executive Urban Project, 'Masterplan to make New Taekrigi : Gosan', which was planned in 2013 to suggest a strategic settlement layout for urban regeneration. Making architectural ideas permeated into the model of urban planing, throughout the design process of initially pursued concepts to the design development stage, we could encounter a new type of formation of urban space, coinciding with the historical, cultural ecological contexts. Result: The expected result of the study intends to enhance the relationship between the formation of public space and urban structure, also ultimately to produce a urban system as 'space generator' to fulfill the social needs and its requirements.

  • This study investigates the effect of chief executive officers (CEO) demographic characteristics such as age, functional experience, education, and gender, on corporate leverage decisions. This study investigates the independent commissioner's role in moderating the relationship between CEO demographic characteristics and leverage decisions. The data used is panel data with a sample of 283 non-financial companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (BEI) from 2010-2017. Moderated regression analysis is used as an analytical technique, with the selected model fixed effects model. The results showed that male and young CEOs were more risk-averse, so they tended to use debt more. However, this study found no evidence of the effect of CEO experience and education on leverage. This study finds evidence that independent commissioners reduce the influence of CEO age and gender on leverage decisions. It shows the role of independent commissioners in controlling risk-taking from male and young CEOs related to leverage decisions. These results become input for companies to consider demographic characteristics in choosing a CEO. Also, companies need a board (in this study seen from independent commissioners) that is strong enough to control the CEO regarding risky decision making, such as leverage decisions.
