The generation of axisymmetric Lamb waves and interaction with wall thinning (corrosion) defects in hollow cylinders are simulated using the finite element method. Guided wave interaction with defects in cylinders is challenged by the multi-mode dispersion and the mode conversion. In this paper, two longitudinal, axisymmetric modes are generated using the concept of a time-delay periodic ring arrays (TDPRA), which makes use of the constructive/destructive interference concept to achieve the unidirectional emission and reception of guided waves. The axisymmetric scattering by the wall thinning extending in full circumference of a cylinder is studied with a two-dimensional FE simulation. The effect of wall thinning depth, axial extension, and the edge shape on the reflections of guided waves is discussed.

We address an issue of channel sharing among users by using a random assignment-transmitter-based (RA-T) spread-spectrum transmission scheme which permits the contention mode only in the transmission of a header while avoiding collision during the data packet transmission. Once the header being successfully received, the data packet is ready for reception by switching to one of programmable matched-filters. But the receoption may be blocked due to limited number of matched-filters so that this effect is taken into account in our analysis. For realistic analysis, we integrate detection performance at the physical level with channel activity at the link level through a markov chain model. We also consider an acknowledgement scheme to notify whether the header is correctly detcted and the data packet can be processed continuously, which aims at reducing the interference caused unwanted data transmission. It is shown that receiver complexity can be greatly reduced by choosing a proper number of RA codes at the cost of only a little throughput degradation.

When the M-ary signal experiences the Rayleigh fading, the diversity schemes can reduce the effects of fading since the probability that all the signals components will fade simultaneously are reduced considerably. The symbol error probabilities for various M-ary signals, such as MDPSK, MPSK and MQAM, are mathematically derived for the SC-2(Selection Combining 2) demodulation system, whereby the two signals with the two largest amplitudes are coherently combined among the L branches. On the other hand, maximum ratio combining(MRC) requires the individual signals from each path to be time-aligned, cophased, optimally weighted by their own fading amplitude, and then summed. The propagation model used in this paper is the frequency-nonselective slow Rayleigh fading channel corrupted by the Additive White Gaussian Noise(AWGN). The numerical results presented in this paper are expected to provide information for the design of radio system using M-ary modulation method for above mentioned channel environment.

A special PM-Tube(Photo Multiplier Tube) that is using the photoelectric effect has been designed and manufactured to measure the radiation energy of arc in a gas circuit breaker(GCB). The PM-Tube, LLG(liquid light guides), ND(neutral density) filter, and a model gas circuit breaker have been combined for the reception and the transmission of the light and a simplified synthetic test facility with the arc energy measuring system has been established. In the case of $SF_6$ gas pressure $5kg.f/cm^2$ and arc length 20mm, the radiation energy increases with the arc current but it tend to be saturated in the above 20kA. Under the arc current 20kA, the total radiation energy has the biggest value around 8kA and was not exceeded 40% of the total arc energy.

Successive interference cancellation (SIC) is an effective means of multi-packet reception to combat interference at the physical layer. We investigate the joint optimization issue of channel access and power control for capacity maximization in SIC-enabled wireless networks. We propose a new interference model to characterize the sequential detection nature of SIC. Afterward, we formulize the joint optimization problem, prove it to be a nondeterministic polynomial-time-hard problem, and propose a novel approximation approach based on the genetic algorithm (GA). Finally, we discuss the design and parameter setting of the GA approach and validate its performance through extensive simulations.

In this paper I am arguing in favour of more vigilance on the part of the Korean linguistics' melieu and, if deemed necessary, a more solid epistemological foundation of the Korean Linguistics. The purpose of this work consist in providing some epistemological inquiry on the major orientations and tendencies which are manifested in the reception of western linguistic theories. I might call this point of view as a critical approach to the philosophy and history of Korean linguistics. In the first section, I gave a short description of the model of the linguistic historiography which can be applied to the history of the Korean linguistics. In the second section, I am concerned with the comparative epistemology of the development of linguistic ideas produced in the West and East. In the final section, I made some critical reflections on the limits of Korean linguistics.

The diversity reception and the equal gain combining technique are applied to the compensation of the distortion of channel, which occurs in transmission of data at rapid speed. DSSS BPSK system which has the receiving structure with the compensation algorithm is formed on the diversity branch, and the characteristics of the system are evaluated at the view point of the average bit error rate due to the SNR. In addition, the multi-tap update algorithm which is superior for the data compensation is suggested. Moreover, using the American Joint Technical Committee PCS RF channel characterization and system deployment model standard, the suggested multi-tap update algorithm is compared and analyzed with the view-point of the average bit error rate and convergence speed for evaluating the realistic efficiency of the system.

When a car accident happened, the accident vehicle should broadcast a safe message to its neighbors in multi-hop. However, the pure flooding is difficult to protect a chain-reaction collision because of the frequent collision and the communication delay. To solve this problem, we proposes a back-off algorithm applied to the estimation of the neighbor node count using the t-distribution. And we proposes a MAC protocol preventing the communication delay by separating the neighbor's count collection channel and data channel. As a result, we show the frame reception success rate of our protocol improved more 10% than the previous protocol.

Various government-based consulting techniques are being adapted to increase competitive power and to achieve management innovation of Korean farms. These business consulting services are offered by free or paid consulting. This study focuses on what socio-economic characteristics are affecting farmers' intension of adapting consulting services, based on 169 surveyed data from Chunchungnam-do. Logit Model is used to identify the relationship between the probability of consulting intent and factors representing farm characteristics. The model was applied on each of free and paid consulting. According to the results, degree of consulting recognition, age, education, raised crop are significant factors affecting farmers' intension of adapting consulting service in the case of free consulting at 10% of significance level. In the case of paid consulting, level of farming, age, income, insufficiency of farming, and education were identified as significant factors. In terms of elasticity of each variable, most variables for free consulting service are inelastic to consulting intent, whereas age, level of farming, and education are elastic for paid consulting service. Overall results implies that more public relations are required to activate free consulting services for the farms with moderate level of farming. In the case of paid consulting, it is effective to adapt consulting services for younger farms with higher level of farming and education.

This paper designs the secure FTP model which provides origin non-repudiation and receipt non-repudiation service that sender and recipient profit of each other to prevent the repudiated of transmission of message and which provides the delivery non-repudiation service to prevent the repudiated of file reception and fact of the transmission failure of an error from the network. The FTP model which is designed to use the GSS-API and in order to have compatibility from source level, with security service it provided the interface which is consistent, establishes the secure context which application client and application server for is safe the session key which overhead from opening to the public key system with efficient key use and it used it minimized.
