In this work, satellite FE (finite element) model updating for the prediction of the effect of micro-vibration is described. In the case of satellites launched in low earth orbit, high agility and more mission accomplishments are required by the customer in order to procure many images from satellites. To achieve the goal, many mechanisms, including high capacity wheels and antennas with multi-axis gimbals have been widely adopted, but they become a source of micro-vibration which could significantly deteriorate the quality of images. To investigate the effect due to the micro-vibration in orbit on the ground, a prediction is conducted through an integrated model coupling the measured jitter sources with FE (finite element) model. Before prediction, the FE model is updated to match simulation results with the modal survey test. Subsequently, the quality of FE model is evaluated in terms of frequency deviation error, the resemblance of mode shapes and FRFs (frequency response functions) between test and analysis.

Existing FPS(Friction Pendulum System) is isolation system which is possible to isolate structures by pendulum characteristic from ground vibration. Structural natural frequency could be decided by designing the radius of curvature of FPS. Thus, response vibration could be reduced by changing natural frequency of structures from FPS. But effective periods of recorded seismic wave were various and estimation of earthquake characteristic could be difficult. If effective periods of seismic wave correspond to natural frequency of structures with FPS, resonance can be occurred. Therefore, CFPBS(Cone-type Friction Pendulum Bearing System) was developed for controlling the response acceleration and displacement by the slope of friction surfaces. Structural natural frequency with CFPBS can be changed according to position of ball on the friction surface which was designed cone-type. Therefore, Divergence of response could be controlled by CFPBS which had constantly changing natural frequency with low modal participation factor in wide-range. In this study, Seismic performance of CFPBS was evaluated by numerical analysis and shaking table test.

During operation of generator, the excitation force with 120Hz always exist irrespective of No. of poles. Therefore the vibration is generated in the stator end windings and the micro-crack is grown up inside the bars. After all, coolant water is leaked outside the bars or the stator is moved and is worn out. What is more, one bar is touched with another bar so a short circuit may frequently happen in operation. In order to prevent it from occurring, the evaluation of mechanical integrity for generator stator windings is carried out periodically during overhaul period. This help troublesome end windings to complement with insulation material and to change vibration characteristics. In this paper, the evaluation of mechanical integrity for generator stator windings is described and the change of vibration characteristics is analysed.

An advanced aeroelastic analysis using a computational structural dynamics (CSD), finite element method (FEM) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is presented in this Paper. A general aeroelastic analysis system is originally developed and applied to realistic design problems in the transonic flow region, where strong shock wave interactions exist. The present computational approach is based on the modal-based coupled nonlinear analysis with the matched-point concept and adopts the high-speed parallel processing technique on the low-cost network based PC-clustered machines. It can give very accurate and useful engineering data on the structural dynamic design of advanced flight vehicles. For the nonlinear unsteady aerodynamics in high transonic flow region, Euler equations using the unstructured grid system have been applied to easily consider complex configurations. It is typically shown that the advanced numerical approach can give very realistic and practical results for design engineers and safe flight tests. One can find that the present study conducts a virtual flutter flight test which are usually very dangerous in reality.
As the speed of high speed train increases, the prediction of ride comfort becomes important. The exciting frequencies due to rail irregularity in high-speed train closes to the second and third natural frequencies of the carbody. The dynamic characteristics of railway vehicles should be checked by modal analysis numerically and experimentally. In this study the bending test for railway vehicle is reviewed and the impact test is suggested to find the natural frequencies and the mode shapes of the carbody. The validity of the impact test is checked with the test for a sample plate which reflects the aspect ratio of the original carbody. The bending test by the impact and the displacement methods of JIS E7105 for a prototype carbody were done in the field and compared. The results show that the impact test can find more accurate natural frequencies and the mode shapes of the carbody than those of the displacement method.

The authors have investigated the NVH problems of drive system in full vehicle test. However it is difficult to define the NVH problems of driveline system. Since it is hard to measure the rotating part and it is vague that only the drive system induces the NVH problem. Vibration in a driveline is presented in this paper. In the experiment, the rear sub-frame and propeller shafts and axle were composed and mounted with rubber each other. For applying the vibration input instead of the torsional vibration effect of an engine, the shaker was taken. In particular, torsional vibration due to fluctuating forced vibration excitation across the joint between driveline and rear sub-frame was carefully examined. Accordingly, the joint response was checked from experiments and the FE-simulation using FRF (frequency response function) analysis was performed. All test results were signal processed and validated against numerical simulations. In present study, the new test bench for measuring the vibration signal and simulating the vehicle chassis system was proposed. The modal value and the mode shape of components were analyzed using the CAE model to identify the important components affecting driveline noise and vibration. It could be reached that the simplified test bench could be well established and be used for design guide and development of the vehicle chassis components.

This paper describes the test procedure, instrumentation, verification methodology and the results of the ground vibration test(GVT) and force vibration test(FVT) of the SmartUAV aircraft to estimate experimentally dynamic characteristics of the aircraft. Bungee cords are used to emulate free-free boundary conditions of the test aircraft. The SmartUAV is excited by three shakers and one-hundred frequency response functions(FRF's) is measured. The FRF's are reduced and analyzed to identify the dynamics parameters of the SmartUAV. To extract modal parameters of the SmartUAV such as, natural frequencies and damping ratios, the poly-reference least square complex exponential method is used in the time domain. The mode shape coefficients are estimated with the least squares frequency domain method to identify the vibration modes. The FVT was performed by fixed sine frequency with three shakers on the x, y and z direction and vibration characteristics of structures and detail equipments are measured.

The performance of emission factor has been validated by comparison with on-road test data. Emission factor, which is a function of vehicle speed, has been acquired based on chassis dynamometer test with NIER driving pattern. Portable Emission Measurement System, PEMS has measured on-road emission. Test vehicle was operated on defined test routes under different driving conditions, and made ten trips along its route. Emission factors properly simulate on-road test result, although there is some drawback to consider variety of driving condition on real world. Vehicle specific power and acceleration have been used to explain the distributed on-road result within same vehicle speed range. The trend in carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide emission with respect to specific power and acceleration is clear. It has been found that specific power is a good explanatory variable for microscopic analysis for modal test result. Acceleration is good for microscopic as well as macroscopic analysis.

The PWR Nuclear Fuel assembly consists of more than 250 fuel rods that are supported by leaf springs in the cells of more than 10 Spacer Grids (SG) along the rod length. Since it is not easy to conduct mechanical tests on a full-scale model basis, the small-scaled rod bundle $(5\times5)$ which is called partial fuel assembly is generally used for various performance tests during the development stage. As one of the small-scaled tests, a flow test should be carried out in order to verify the performance of the spacer grid to obtain the Flow-Induced Vibration (FIV) characteristics of the scaled fuel assembly over the specified flow range. A vibration test should be also performed to obtain the modal parameters of the assembly prior to the flow test. In this study, we want to develop the estimation procedure of the damping ratio for the scaled test assembly. For the damping factor of the partial fuel assembly and the grid cage at the first vibration mode, as one of the vibration tests, a so-called pluck testing has been performed in air as a preliminary test prior to in-flow damping measurement test. Logarithmic decrement method is used for calculation of the damping ratio. Estimated damping ratio of the partial fuel assembly is about $0.7\%$ with reasonable error of $2\%$ for the previous results. Nonlinear behavior of the partial fuel assembly might be stem mainly from the rod-grid support configuration.
