The Effect of Mobile Apps on Vocabulary Acquisition in EFL Classroom

  • This study's purpose is to examine the effects of mobile apps on learners' vocabulary acquisition and to analyze students' perceptions and opinions about the vocabulary app. To this end, this study set up a control group, which was given explicit instructions in the classroom by the instructor and an experimental group, which used a vocabulary app. The vocabulary acquisition test results suggested that the difference between the the two groups was insignificant. However, user satisfaction with regard to the mobile app was high, and the reasons given were the following: convenience, efficiency of memorizing, having fun while learning, and the app's interface. Based on these results, this study suggests that teachers should use mobile apps much more actively in classroom instruction, and encourge students to let apps play a more active role in their language studies.

가중 특징 값을 고려한 러프 집합 기반 비정상 행위 탐지방법의 설계 및 평가 (Design and Evaluation of a Rough Set Based Anomaly Detection Scheme Considering Weighted Feature Values)

  • 무선 네트워크의 급속한 확산과 이동 컴퓨팅 응용은 네트워크 보안에 대한 전망을 변화시켰다. 비정상 행위 탐지는 시스템으로 모니터 되는 알 수 없는 행위나 이상한 행위에 대한 패턴 인식 작업이다. 본 논문에서는 셀룰러 이동 망에서 유해한 내부 공격 위장자를 효율적으로 식별할 수 있는 효율적인 러프 집합 기반 비정상 행위 탐지 방법을 제안한다. 제안하는 비정상 행위 탐지 방법에서는 특징 값으로 사용자의 무선 응용 계층의 추적 데이터를 사용한다. 특징 값을 기초로, 이동 사용자의 사용 패턴이 러프 집합에 의해 얻어지고, 그리고 모바일의 비정상 행위는 가중 특징 값을 고려한 러프 소속 함수에 적용하여 효과적으로 탐지될 수 있다. 제안하는 방법의 성능은 모의실험으로 평가하였다. 모의실험 결과, 중요도에 따라 특징 속성에 다른 가중치를 부여하는 방법이 비정상 행위를 더 잘 탐지한다는 것을 확인하였다.

거래 인증 모드를 사용한 이동 결제 시스템 설계 (Mobile Payment System Design with Transaction Certificate Mode)

  • 결제를 위한 이전의 웹 접근 인증 시스템의 웹 혹은 모바일 채널은 단지 사용자 인증만을 위한 것이며 사용자와 은행 및 금융 기관과의 인증은 이루어지지 않고 있다. 따라서 본 논문은 웹 기반 결제 시스템을 위한 사용자와 은행 및 금융 기관과의 상호 인증이 가능한 결제 거래 인증 모드를 제안한다. 제안한 시스템은 유선 전자 거래를 위한 안전한 전자 거래 (Secure Electronic Transaction : SET)를 무선 네트워크를 위한 결제 시스템으로 설계하였다. 또한 거래 인증 모드를 사용한 이 시스템은 SET 단점인 유선의 카드 기반 거래를 대신하여, 무선의 계좌 기반 거래를 지원 할 수 있다. 따라서 고객은 고객과 고객 은행 사이의 상호 인증으로 고객 은행 사이트에 다시 로그인할 필요 없이 잔고를 확인할 수 있다.

  • In these days, mobile application dealing with information contents on mobile or handheld devices such as mobile communicator, PDA or WAP device face the most important industrial needs. The motivation of this study is the design and implementation of mobile application using high resolution satellite imagery, large-sized image data set. Although major advantages of mobile devices are portability and mobility to users, limited system resources such as small-sized memory, slow CPU, low power and small screen size are the main obstacles to developers who should handle a large volume of geo-based 3D model. Related to this, the previous works have been concentrated on GIS-based location awareness services on mobile; however, the mobile 3D terrain model, which aims at this study, with the source data of DEM (Digital Elevation Model) and high resolution satellite imagery is not considered yet, in the other mobile systems. The main functions of 3D graphic processing or pixel pipeline in this prototype are implemented with OpenGL|ES (Embedded System) standard API (Application Programming Interface) released by Khronos group. In the developing stage, experiments to investigate optimal operation environment and good performance are carried out: TIN-based vertex generation with regular elevation data, image tiling, and image-vertex texturing, text processing of Unicode type and ASCII type.

Investigating the Value of Information in Mobile Commerce: A Text Mining Approach

  • The proliferation of mobile applications and the unique characteristics of the mobile environment have attracted significant research interest in understanding customers' purchasing behaviors in mobile commerce. In this study, we extend customer value theory by combining the predictors of product performance with customer value framework to investigate how in-store information creates value for customers and influences mobile application downloads. Using a data set collected from the Google Application Store, we find that customers value both text and non-text information when they make downloading decisions. We apply latent semantic analysis techniques to analyze customer reviews and product descriptions in the mobile application store and determine the embedded valuable information. Results show that, for mobile applications, price, number of raters, and helpful information in customer reviews and product descriptions significantly affect the number of downloads. Conversely, average rating does not work in the mobile environment. This study contributes to the literature by revealing the role of in-store information in mobile application downloads and by providing application developers with useful guidance about increasing application downloads by improving in-store information management.

Evaluation of Geo-based Image Fusion on Mobile Cloud Environment using Histogram Similarity Analysis

  • Mobility and cloud platform have become the dominant paradigm to develop web services dealing with huge and diverse digital contents for scientific solution or engineering application. These two trends are technically combined into mobile cloud computing environment taking beneficial points from each. The intention of this study is to design and implement a mobile cloud application for remotely sensed image fusion for the further practical geo-based mobile services. In this implementation, the system architecture consists of two parts: mobile web client and cloud application server. Mobile web client is for user interface regarding image fusion application processing and image visualization and for mobile web service of data listing and browsing. Cloud application server works on OpenStack, open source cloud platform. In this part, three server instances are generated as web server instance, tiling server instance, and fusion server instance. With metadata browsing of the processing data, image fusion by Bayesian approach is performed using functions within Orfeo Toolbox (OTB), open source remote sensing library. In addition, similarity of fused images with respect to input image set is estimated by histogram distance metrics. This result can be used as the reference criterion for user parameter choice on Bayesian image fusion. It is thought that the implementation strategy for mobile cloud application based on full open sources provides good points for a mobile service supporting specific remote sensing functions, besides image fusion schemes, by user demands to expand remote sensing application fields.

고속으로 이동하는 노드들을 위한 효율적인 위치 갱신 기법 (An Efficient Location Management Scheme for High-speed Mobile Nodes)

  • 최근 들어 이동 사용자의 폭발적 증가로 인해 이동 통신 시스템에서 위치 관리가 중요해지고 있다. 현재 이동 통신 시스템에서 사용중인 위치 관리 기법은 위치 영역 개념을 사용하며, 이동 노드는 새로운 위치 영역으로 이동할 때마다 위치 갱신을 수행한다 그러나, 이 기법은 이동률이 호 도착률보다 높은 사용자에 대해서는 불필요한 위치 갱신을 피할 수 없으며 상당한 위치 관리비용을 초래한다. 이러한 단점을 극복하기 위해서, 본 논문에서는 서비스 영역을 두 개의 집합으로 분할한다. 하나는 이동 사용자들 이 고속으로 이동하는 영역들의 집합이며 나머지 하나는 저속으로 이동하는 영역들의 집합이다. 이들 두개의 집합을 구성한 후, 본 논문에서는 각 영역 집합에 대해서 서로 다른 위치 추적 기법을 적용한다. 일반적으로, 고속으로 이동하는 대다수 노드는 낮은 CMR을 가지며 목적지에 도착할 때까지 일정한 이동 방향성을 갖는다. 노드의 이러한 특성을 이용하여, 사용자가 이동할 다음 위치를 시스템은 미리 예측할 수 있다. 노드가 시스템에서 예측한 위치 영역으로 이동한 경우에는 위치 갱신을 수행하지 않도록 함으로써 위치 관리에 소요되는 비용을 감소시킬 수 있다. 제안 기법의 성능을 분석하기 위해 마코프 모델이 사용되었다. 이 모델을 통해서, 본 논문에서는 제안기법을 IS-41과 TLA의 두 가지 기법과 성능을 비교한다. 성능 분석 결과는 이동 노드의 CMR이 낮을수록 그리고 이동 통신 시스템에서 예측한 특정 위치 영역으로 이동 노드가 이동할 확률이 높을수록 제안기법의 전체적인 위치 관리비용은 감소됨을 보여주었다. 또한, HLR과 VLR간의 통신비용이 높을수록 두 기법들보다 성능이 우수하였다.

Research on Use Motivations of Mobile Payment Adopters: A Case Study on Chinese Oversea Students in South Korea

  • In this paper we purposes to analyze the motivation of mobile payment adopters. In this study, with unified theory of acceptance and use of technology (UTAUT) model as the basis of research, we set up a structural equation model based on gender, age, experience and voluntary, collected data in the form of a questionnaire survey and analyzed drivers that affected mobile payers. In this study, The necessity of this paper is that the group of Korean students belongs to a special group with nearly 70,000 people. The penetration rate of mobile payment in China is 77%, ranking first in the world, but after the young people came to Korea. There are many obstacles and inconveniences when using mobile payment. We have proposed special subjects for special populations. the survey data were analyzed using SPSS22.0 and AMOS22.0 statistical software and the proposed model was modified. The results show that consumers' mobile payment is mainly motivated by social influence and performance expectancy. These results are of theoretical value and offer a new direction and implications to mobile payment developers. Besides, they also provide useful information and guidance for enterprises to aim at the market of Chinese oversea students in South Korea.

원전 이동감시 및 방사선 측정용 원격조종 로봇 개발 (Development of a remote controlled mobile robot system for monitoring nuclear power plant)

  • A remote controlled mobile robot system has been developed and tested to monitor the radiation area in the nuclear power plant. The mobile robot system operates according to car-driving-like commands and is capable of radiation measurement and visual inspection in unmanned situations under radiation. The robot system is equipped with a radiation sensor and two cameras with appropriate illumination set-ups. The camera with auto-focus function and 8-times zoom lens is mounted on the pan/tilt rotational base and the other is mounted on the front panel of the robot system. All commands regarding the motion of the mobile robot and various sensors are given through the monitoring system which is designed to provide an integrated man-machine interface.

Forward Velocity Estimation Algorithm for Planar Mobile Robots

  • The sliding and/or skidding motions generally occur to a car - like planar mobile robot consisting of four conventional fixed wheels attached on two parallel axles. Thus, the kinematic model of such mobile robot should include the description of skidding and sliding frictional motions. However, most of previous kinematic models do not take these frictional motions into account the kinematic model, as the work done by Muir and Newman [1]. Thus, does it result in least square solution in estimating sensed forward velocity.
