  • In this paper, the chip slot antenna which is used for mobile devices and designed for multi-band is proposed. The proposed antenna is comprised of a chip antenna(10 mm$\times$20 mm$\times$1.27 mm) and a system circuit board(30 mm$\times$60 mm$\times$0.8 mm). The chip slot antenna is mounted on the system circuit board and the end of F-type strip line which is patterned on the chip antenna is connected by a via with a ground plane of the system circuit board. So, a chip antenna radiates effectively the energy by transition between a microstrip line of the system circuit board and a open slot structure of the chip antenna. In the results of proposed antenna, impedance bandwidth of 3:1 VSWR(-6 dB return loss) is 1.98 GHz(1.61~3.59 GHz) and 0.8 GHz(5.2~6 GHz). So, it can cover multi-band of DCS, PCS, UMTS, WLAN. The proposed antenna can be applied to mobile devices.

  • The land mobile antenna for two-way communication using geostationary satellite consists of a transmitting and receiving systems. The transmitting system plays the role of sending the signal to the satellite while the receiving system does the role of receiving signal from the satellite and tacking the target satellite. Especially, the land mobile antenna for satellite communication must be met with the international regulation such as antenna pattern, transmitting power and tracking error to protect the damage of the neighbor satellites. On the other hand, this paper thoroughly examined a receiving system to satisfy a stable satellite tracking performance and antenna pattern specified by the international regulation for Ku-band geostationary satellite.

  • The novel internal monopole chip antenna of penta-band operation for GSM850/GSM900/DCS/USPCS/WCDMA bands for mobile phones is proposed. This antenna occupies a small volume $8\times3.2\times20mm^3$ and is suitable to be embedded in a mobile phone as an internal antenna. The minimization of the proposed antenna was realized by using spiral line structure and meander line structure on FR-4 of dielectric$(\varepsilon_r=4.4)$. The designed antenna has the wide-band operation in the upper band by overlapping high order resonances. The measured bandwidth of this antenna (VSWR>3) is 150MHz$(1,030\sim1,180\;MHz)$ in the lower band operation and 650 MHz$(1,760\sim2,410\;MHz)$ in higher band operation. The measured radiation efficiency within bandwidth(VSWR 3:1) is over 50 %. The antenna has been designed by a commercial software HFSS.

  • A microstrip antenna for mobile system are designed at the resont frequency 0.88 GHz. The microstrip array antenna are designed to depend on the size of rectanular microstrip path for the relative current distribution to be 1:4.69:1 using Tchebyscheff polynominals. Gain difference between the main lobe and sidelobe is calculated for theoritical values of 20 dB. The designed microstrip array antenna are mesureed various characteristics, such as return loss, radiation pattern, V.S.W.R, bandwidth, and agreed with each other and theoretical value. Also it is presented a process of phase variation of patch array antenna depend on relative current distribution for beam scanning.

  • In this paper, an internal GPS antenna for mobile phones is designed and fabricated. For the miniaturization of the antenna, high permittivity dielectric substrate((${\varepsilon}_r$=90) and small ground plane ($13mm{\times}13mm$) are used. To increase the receive gain, the antenna is composed with LNA(Low Noise Amplifier). Results of the manufactured antenna($13mm{\times}13mm{\times}8mm$) show that the maximum antenna gain is about 12 dBi, the axial ratio is less than 3 dB, and the current consumption of LNA is less than 4 mA.

  • A multiband meandered monopole antenna is proposed for digital video broadcasting handheld (DVB-H), global positioning system, personal communications service, wireless broadband (Wibro), and wireless local area network (WLAN) applications. The proposed antenna consists of a meandered line, a shorted length strip line, and a conductor strip between a meandered line and a microstrip feed line. By tuning a short strip and a conductor, a multiband impedance matching is achieved. The proposed antenna has an omnidirectional radiation and yields an antenna gain of greater than -3 dBi in the DVB-H band and 4.5 dBi in the Wibro and WLAN bands. Details of the proposed antenna design and experimental results are presented.

  • This paper presents a design of a multi-band infernal antenna for mobile handsets which can cover the major mobile services such as WiBro/WiMAX mobile internet services and Media-FLO/S-DMB services. Using wideband monopole antenna structure, the proposed antenna obtains the wide bandwidth characteristic at high Sequency band to be applicable for new mobile services. Stacking meandered radiator on the wideband monopole radiator and obtaining the different current path and lenga on these stacked radiators, overall antenna volume is effectively reduced. The measured bandwidths (VSWR<3) of the proposed antenna is 270 MHz and 2032 MHz at low and high band, respectively. This antenna can effectively covers major wireless communication bands including Media-FLO, CDMA, GSM, GPS, DCS, PCS, UMTS, WiBro, WiMAX, and S-DMB.

  • Determination method of optimum feeding point for the PIFA type internal antenna for the mobile phone handset was studied. Fundamental theory is that radiated gain is basically depended upon the electric field strength between PIFA conductor and ground plane. Feeding point, slit configuration, material and structure of carrier are main factors fur the PIFA performances. It is shown that maximum electric field strengths of other feeding points decrease in -2dB to -10 dB than optimum point. Ansoft HFSS EM simulator was applied to determine the best feeding point for 2 models of Samsung Electronics mobile phone handset.

  • In land mobile communications, incident waves to mobile antenna com mostly from directions having low elevation angles about $60^{\circ}$ down from the vertical plane. In order to receive this waves effectively, planar type antenna was fabricated and its characteristics were analyzed. This type of antenna is achieved using superstrate effect criteria which are derived for a nonzero radiation field extending down to the substrate layer surface plan. A small planar type microstrip antenna which can receive incident waves having low elevation angle was fabricated. Experimental results show that the band width of the fabricated antenna is 70 MHz at 1.2 GHz and have nonzero field down to the layer surface.

  • In this paper, a novel particle swarm optimization method based on IE3D is used to design a mobile communication microstrip patch antenna. The aim of the paper is to design and fabricate an inset fed rectangular microstrip antenna and study the effect of antenna dimensions length (L), width (W) and substrate parameters relative dielectric constant (${\varepsilon}r$), substrate thickness on radiation parameters of band width. PSO algorism was applied to IE3D, low resistance against, band width and advantage, were improved.
