  • This paper proposes an optimum array configuration to improve null steering time for mobile controlled reception pattern antenna (CRPA) systems. The proposed array consists of a single reference element at the center and nine auxiliary elements arranged in a circular array. The array radius and the vertical positions of the center element are optimized using a genetic algorithm in conjunction with a constrained least-mean-square algorithm. The results demonstrate that the proposed array is suitable for mobile CRPA systems without significant side nulls in satellite directions.

  • We have proposed a novel DVB-H(Digital Video Broadcast for Handheld) antenna for folder-type mobile handheld terminal by using a coupling element, a stub, and an L-type matching circuit. The L-type matching circuit consisting of two chip inductors is used for achieving an improved impedance matching over the DVB-H frequency band ($470{\sim}702\;MHz$). Simulated results showed the stub worked to more knot the lower and upper frequency ends of the input impedance curve. The antenna exhibits a flat gain characteristic from 2 to 2.8 dBi over the DVB-H frequency band. The radiation patterns are a stable Figure-of-eight radiation pattern in the frequency range.

  • In this paper, the method of isolation enhancement for the mobile phone MIMO antenna of LTE class 40(2300~2400MHz) was studied. Design of MIMO antenna was based on the hybrid antenna that operates both a monopole and an IFA(Inverted F Antenna). A structure for the isolation enhancement which controls induced electric field on the ground plane is located between MIMO antenna, and was not connected with the ground but apart 0.3mm. A MIMO antenna that operates on class 3~40(1710~2400MHz) of LTE service bands and a structure for the isolation enhancement at the class 10 band were designed. VSWR measurement of implemented antenna on the FR4 board showed within 3:1 at entire design bands, and isolation between antennas at the class 40 band was less than -30dB. Isolation was enhanced more than 20dB by the studied structure. ECC(Envelope Correlation Coefficient) for MIMO performance was under 0.1, and antenna average gain and efficiency measured in the anechoic chamber were -4.28~-1.40dBi and 37.32~72.36% respectively.

  • This paper reports on the proposed design of a low profile broadband array antenna for home repeater applications. The proposed antenna consists of $1{\times}4$ patch elements and two ground planes, one of which is slitted. By using the gap feeding method, the impedance matching of the antenna is improved by a multi-resonance phenomenon. The proposed antenna provides a wide -10 dB reflection coefficient bandwidth simultaneously covering the Global System for Mobile communications (GSM-1800), Personal Communications Service (PCS), and the Universal Mobile Telecommunication System (UMTS) bands (1.67-2.32 GHz). In order to reduce the mutual coupling between adjacent patch elements, slits are embedded in the ground plane. An isolation level of -20 dB is realized over the entire operating frequency band.

  • In this paper, a wide band helical antenna for mobile handset using parasitic element effect has been investigated. To obtain the effect of parasitic element, we utilized the cylindrical conductor which is not feed. As thickness of cylindrical conductor is increasing, second and third resonance frequency become abruptly variable. In case of that 4.5mm diameter parasitic element cylindrical conductor is inserted, normal mode helical antenna obtained bandwidth of around 900 MHz on the limit of R. L., - 5 dB.

  • The paper deals with the improvement of various characteristics of antenna for VHF mobile handset. In the general case, $1/4{\lambda}$ monopole and helical antenna are used for VHF mobile handset. However, various characteristics of antenna have different result for effect of hand. Especially, radiation efficient is reduced about several dB. In this paper, characteristics of loaded helical antenna have been evaluated. And we propose a method to improve a radiation efficient of antenna consider with hand effect.

  • In this paper, we propose a dual-band multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) antenna with high isolation for WLAN applications (2.45 GHz and 5.2 GHz). The proposed antenna is composed of a mobile communication terminal board, eight radiators, a coaxial feed line, and slots for isolation. The measured -10 dB impedance bandwidths are 10.1% (2.35 GHz to 2.6 GHz) and 3.85% (5.1 GHz to 5.3 GHz) at each frequency band. The proposed four-element MIMO antenna has an isolation of better than 35 dB at 2.45 GHz and 45 dB at 5.2 GHz between each element. The antenna gain is 3.2 dBi at 2.45 GHz and 4.2 dBi at 5.2 GHz.

  • In this paper, a multiple antenna system for next generation mobile applications is proposed. The proposed MIMO antenna consists of two parallel folded monopole antennas with the length of 100 mm and spacing of 6 mm and a decoupling network which locates at the top side of a mobile handset. In order to improve the isolation characteristic at the LTE band 13, a decoupling network was added between the two antenna elements placed close to each other. The decoupling network, consisting of two transmission lines, a shunt reactive component and common ground line, is simple and compact. To obtain the wide bandwidth characteristic, an wide folded patch structure generating the strong coupling between feeding and shorting lines through the slit is used at the bottom side of a mobile handset. Also, the performance of a multiple antenna system composed of three antenna elements is analyzed.

  • It's introduced a BLA(Branch Loop Antenna) that is modified from conventional loop, and verified antenna performances for applying to mobile handset. Branch elements are added to a rectangular loop, and low resonance is obtained by the length of the branch line. When resonance frequency of a single loop is 2.5GHz, BLA had near 900 MHz under the same antenna size. Multiple resonances are established by the locations of branch connection and their lengths. By the implementation and measurement for the dual band BLA, it's showed 75MHz -10dB bandwidth and -3.03~-1.46dBi average gains with 49.73~71.39% efficiencies at GSM900 band, and 90MHz -6dB bandwidth and -8.14~-2.17dBi average gains with 15.34~60.62% efficiencies at DCS1900 band. And H-plane radiation patterns were omni-directional. These performances are good for the mobile handset antenna.
