A Study on Benefit Cost Analysis of Chungju UIS (청주시 도시정보시스템의 비용편익분석 연구)

  • Recently, urban information system(UIS) has been developed and utilized by local governments in Korea and has become a key means of urban informatization of local governments. When UIS is conducted only for FM oriented internal utilization regardless of its cost-efficiency, however, its cost-benefit structure could be distorted seriously. The study utilizes benefit cost analysis technique and applied the technique to a model case of Chungju UIS selected by National GIS team. Chungju City developed its GIS for the management of roads and urban planning in 1993. At its beginning, the system was an efficient model with relatively strong cost-benefit structure and could produce positive net benefit 10 years' after its construction. When the city began to develop its facility management with the financial assistance from central government in 1998, however, its cost-benefit structure became distorted. As a result, it is delayed for the UIS to produce positive net benefit until the year of 2015. Using benefit cost ratio, discount rate and Mobile GIS, the study also conducts a sensitivity analysis.

  • Korean Blood Services have grown with history of half a century or more, and in its developing process, technological growth have contributed largely toward it. However, Korean Red Cross and public blood centers are finding difficulty in their business because the public doesn't feel necessity of blood donation and have distrust in current blood management system. Recently, smart phone shows new possibility to the modern life as it plays a role of micro PC. With this tendency, mobile application is being highlighted as a new media. Therefore this paper aims to propose an application called 'Nanumi'(tentatively named) to improve negative awareness about blood donation. For specific development suggestion, I analyzed existing theses and applications. Also, I interviewed experts in blood management and did a public survey to firm up necessity and appropriateness of this research. In this paper, I proposed structure of functions and UI design for the application.

Design and Implementation of Hybrid Mobile App Framework (하이브리드 모바일 앱 프레임워크 설계 및 구현)

  • In this paper, in order to improve the execution performance and serviceability of cross-platform applications frameworks based on the existing web applications, we design and implement a new hybrid application framework named as WApplE.js, which enables direct control of native UI(User Interface) of mobile operating systems and various resources via JavaScript. We first present the design results for the overall software structure and the configuration of every layer of WApplE.js, and then analyze the processes for calling and handling APIs in the implemented hybrid application framework. In addition, the results of comparison of features to the existing frameworks are presented.

  • Recently, the most mobile application software developers are being faced by short developing time (fast time-to-market), various requirements and requirement changes. In order to overcome the environment, developer should support user friendly GUI and assure the quality from the early developing process using GUI test method. This paper proposes a test method and tool for mobile software GUI, which reduces test time and supports comfortable test environment by user oriented UI design. We implemented a tool based on test scenarios based image flow for high testing accuracy and test case reusability. And the results show the characteristics of the method compared to the existing tools.

  • Persons with low vision impairment refers to visual and visual impairments that can not be remedied by medical or optical methods due to inherited or acquired eye disease. People with low vision impairments account for more than 240 million people in the world and have only a few remaining eyesight. We will discuss the improvement of information accessibility of low visually impaired people and future research methods through research on Web UI/UX in mobile web environment for low visibility handicapped in the environment where information can be accessed through existing screen reader (TTS) and screen enlargement function.

  • 이동단말기기의 성능이 발전함에 따라 사용자에게 다양한 서비스를 제공할 수 있게 되었다. 하지만 사용자의 취향이나 의도에 따라 이용하는 선호 서비스는 일부분에 불과하다. 이것은 사용자마다 라이프스타일에 의한 서비스 사용 패턴에 차이가 있음에도 불구하고 획일화된 UI만을 제공하기 때문이다. 본 논문에서는 이동단말기기를 통하여 시간에 따른 사용자의 위치 및 콘텐츠 사용정보를 수집하고 의사결정트리를 이용하여 사용자의 콘텐츠 사용패턴을 추론한다. 또한, 추론한 콘텐츠 사용 패턴을 기반으로 개인화된 UI 구성 방법을 제안한다. 개인화된 지능성 UI를 통하여 사용자들이 라이프 스타일에 적합한 다양한 콘텐츠를 사용하게 되고, 이동단말기기의 활용성 또한 높아질 것을 기대할 수 있다.

Tilt-based Photo Browsing UI on Mobile Devices (휴대기기에서의 기울임 기반 사진 감상 UI)

  • 본 논문에서는 기울임 동작에 기반한 휴대기기 상의 사진 감상 UI를 제시하고 사용성을 평가한다. 기존의 기울임 입력 방식의 세가지 조작성 문제(overshooting, fluctuation, 부분 이미지 제시)를 개선하기 위하여, 사진 위치 및 기울임에 의존하는 사진 이동 제어 dynamics 모델을 제안한다. 본 시스템은 기울임 감지용 가속도 센서, 기울임에 의한 사진 이동 제어 dynamics 모델, 다중모달(시각, 청각, 촉각)을 통한 모델 상태 출력부로 구성된다. 센서 입력과 다중 모달 출력을 위하여, 삼성 MITs 4300 PDA의 배터리 팩을 개조하여 3축 가속도 센서와 진동 출력장치 (VBW32)를 장착하였다. 제안하는 시스템은 기존의 대표적인 사진 감상 입력 방법인 버튼과 iPod wheel과 비교하였다. 정량적 비교를 위하여 7명의 사용자에게 100장의 사진 중 20장을 차례로 검색하는 과제를 부여하면서 수집한 로그를 분석하였으며, 정성적인 비교를 위하여 설문 조사를 실시하였다. 실험 결과 제안한 방법이 기존 기울임 기반 dynamics에 비하여 overshooting 횟수를 30%, 사진간 이동 거리를 25%, 이동 시간을 17% 감소하였다. 또한 제안한 방법이 버튼과 유사한 조작성을 갖고 있으며, 버튼과 iPod보다 더욱 흥미성이 뛰어났다. 상업적으로 뛰어난 성공을 거둔 iPod이 다수의 overshooting 발생으로 실제로는 사용성이 떨어진다는 점이 예상치 못한 흥미로운 발견이었다.

  • The user interface is an important factor in providing efficient services to application users. In particular, mobile applications that can be executed anytime and anywhere have a higher priority of usability than applications in other domains.Previous studies have used prototype and storyboard methods to improve the usability of applications. However, this approach has limitations in continuously identifying and improving the usability problems of a particular application. Therefore, in this paper, we propose a usability analysis method using touch gesture data. It could identify and improve the UI / UX problem of the application continuously by grasping the intention of the user after the application is distributed.
