A study on u-City services promotion by mobile services (모바일 서비스에 의한 u-City 서비스 활성화에 관한 연구)

  • The paper reviews the relationship between mobile services and u-City services in order to promote u-City service. In the u-Cities, a variety of services are provided based on u-IT technology, which brings the benefits of efficient city management and offers convenience to the city residents. However, most of the available services are designed for the areas of city operation or administrative management, which hinders the growth and propagation of the services. Hence, the paper suggests a concept of mobile life service that is a service that can be ubiquitously accessible by city residents in everyday life. Accordingly, the paper examines and analyzes the usefulness of such services and the intention to use them by conducting a survey among the residents of the metropolitan area. The paper verifies that the mobile life service will contribute to promoting the use of u-City services.

Influencing Factors of Continuous Use Intention of Mobile IPTV Service (모바일 IPTV 서비스의 지속적인 이용의도에 대한 영향요인)

  • As smartphones and tablets are drastically spreading, mobile IPTV service becomes very important emerging issue in addition to existing DMB broadcasting, and the consumption of personalized multimedia services is increasing in the mobile Internet environment. While the previous research focuses on influencing factors of the initial acceptance intention of the mobile IPTV Service, this study intends to find the factors that affect continuous use intention of the mobile IPTV service which has become one of core services in the mobile environment. The research model and the hypotheses of this study could be derived on the basis of four referent theories (that is, mobile service quality model (MOBISQUAL), post acceptance model (PAM), expectation confirmation theory (ECT) and extended technology acceptance model (ETAM)). In order to empirically test the hypotheses, the field survey was conducted for 278 respondents. Twelve ones of fifteen hypotheses were found to be statistically significantly adopted from the results of structural equation model analyses using Smart PLS 3.0. The theoretical contribution of this study is to empirically investigate the factors that affect the continuous use intention of mobile IPTV service. And the practical contribution is to provide the implementation guidelines of managing the service quality to enhance the competitive power of mobile IPTV business.

  • Recently Web Services choreography working group of W3C has published the working draft on WSCDL (Web Services Choreography Description Language) version 1.0 which defines reusable common rules to govern the ordering of exchanged messages between Web Services participants. This paper considers a computing environment where mobile clients are interacting with Web Services providers based on a WSCDL specification. In order to effectively cope with the user and device mobility of such an environment, in this paper we present an ongoing work to develop a framework through which a mobile client can specify its preference on how conversation should take place. The proposed framework provides a flexible means for mobile clients to minimize the number of message exchanges while allowing them to adhere to the required choreography.

Empirical Study on Strategies for Successful Mobile Contents Services (모바일콘텐츠 서비스의 성공전략에 관한 실증 연구)

  • Mobile contents mean all contents that could be served by mobile terminals. The mobile contents are categorized by three areas, which are communication, information and entertainment. Since the various mobile contents have own characteristics, there are differentiations among the service success factors according to types of the contents. In this paper, we do not only derive important factors that influence success of mobile contents services, but also analyze how the factors influence the success of mobile services. We also analyze whether measures of the factors might differ significantly among the types of mobile contents services.

  • Recently, various mobile services are provided by the spread of wireless network infrastructures and smart devices. The improvement of cloud computing technologies increases the interests for enterprise mobile cloud services in various IT companies as well. By increasing the interests for enterprise mobile cloud services, it is necessary to evaluate the use of enterprise mobile cloud services. Therefore, the factors which affect the user acceptance of enterprise mobile cloud services are analyzed on the basis of Davis' technology acceptance model in this research. As analysis results, four external variables have significant effects on perceived ease of use of mobile cloud services. Also, these variables indirectly affect attitude toward using cloud services. The results show that the security is the most important factor for attitude toward using enterprise mobile cloud services. The service users also consider the interoperability as an important factor for the user acceptance of cloud services. The perceived ease of use has more contribution than the perceive usefulness on attitude toward using enterprise mobile cloud services. This research has both industrial and academic contributions because it provides the guideline to companies for introducing the enterprise mobile cloud services and apply the technology acceptance model on new IT services.

  • Increasing popularity of smartphone is creating many changes in payment market sector also. The new fin-tech and simple mobile payment service have provided convenience as well as various benefits and value-added services to create new payment culture. However, the infrastructure of offline shops is too poor for users to use the simple mobile payment services in Korea. There are several reasons why the support of simple mobile payment services by offline shops has reached the limit in Korea. They include the reluctance of shop owners due to highly priced devices, the failure of NFC of the leading offline payment infrastructure to support iOS, the services that are biased to the specific manufacturers and smartphones (Samsung Pay and LG Pay), prefer large shops (SSG Pay and L PAY), and focus on online transactions. This study used the Bluetooth technology that is the standard feature built in all smartphone to expand the offline shops that accept the simple mobile payment services ensuring universality and scalability from the convenience of customer's and service provider's aspects. Applying the same payment scene as the existing NFC payment method from the user's aspect and the Bluetooth technology from the service provider's aspect enables support of all smartphones and offering value-added services such as electronic receipt and promotions through the large-capacity bidirectional data transfer. This study is intended to review the simple mobile payment services in Korea and other countries, propose the simple mobile payment service model for Korea by analyzing the Bluetooth technology and preceding studies of payment services using BLE technology, and develop the pilot system using the BLE technology to verify the proposed system with actual shops.

  • In distributed computing paradigm, mobile surrogate systems have not gained wide acceptance because of security concerns that have not been suitably addressed yet. Currently even the widely used Grid middleware, Globus, does not have a host authentication mechanism, which makes it hard to provide high performance Grid computing capabilities to mobile clients. In this paper, a mobile Grid service framework is designed and implemented in order to provide Grid services to mobile host such as PDA. The surrogate host-based system allows mobile hosts to be provided with Grid services while moving. The implemented mobile Grid services system has been applied to mobile healthcare system which utilizes Grid computing for ECG signal processing. The presented system framework can be used as a secure enterprise mobile healthcare system for hospital physicians.

  • Mobile Cloud Computing services anywhere, anytime access to the Internet via a mobile terminal means to provide services, speakers are called Mobiloud. Computing processing power limitations of mobile devices, storage, due to space constraints, the tasks handled by mobile devices and data processing services to move to cloud environments.   • This study examines the factors affecting the usage and diffusion of mobile easy payment services which is fast growing industry recently. After wide reviewing previous research about mobile payment, Some factors are identified as the factors influencing intention to use mobile easy payment services-confidence, innovativeness, mobile self-efficacy, relative advantage- through several mediating factors- perceived ease, perceived usefulness, perceived risk. Empirical study for a research model showed confidence, mobile self-efficacy and relative advantage are effective to the intention to use mobile easy payment services via perceived usefulness and perceived risk. Based on the results of the study, some practical implication for customer retention and acquisition are suggested.

Clustering Social Media Services and Messengers by Functionality

  • The objective of this research is to analyze which functions make up web-based as well as mobile social media services and messengers. Services are clustered by their functionality. A total of 640 individual functions were identified, while investigating altogether 44 selected services in their web and mobile versions. Applying content analysis, functions were assigned to the services. The services were ranked by the number of implemented functions, and the functions were ranked by their occurrence in the services. Cluster analysis was applied to classify the services according to their functionality. Facebook and VKontakte were found to be the ones with the most functions; the most frequently implemented functions are support, profile, and account-related. Cluster analysis revealed six classes for mobile and seven classes for web applications. There is a noteworthy difference regarding the functionality scope between web and mobile applications of the same services. An example for this is Mendeley with 38 functions in the mobile and 91 functions in the web version. This is the first empirical attempt at clustering social media services based on their functionality.
