  • This paper deals with the indoor localization problem for a SSMR (Skid Steering Mobile Robot) subjected to wheel-ground friction and with one LRF (Laser Range Finder). In order to compensate for some friction effect, a friction related coefficient is estimated by the recursive least square algorithm and appended to the maneuvering command. Also to reduce odometric information based localization errors, the lines are extracted with scan points of LRF and matched with the ones of the corresponding map built in advance. The present friction compensation and scan map matching schemes have been applied to a laboratory SSMR, and experimental results are given to validate the localization performance along an indoor corridor.

  • Cystic lymphangioma is an uncommon benign developmental tumor of the lymphatic system, seen rarely in adults. A 23-year-old man visited DKUDH complaining of the painless swelling in the right submandibular area. It was reported that swelling had increased since 5 months ago. Clinically, fltriangle uctuant and mobile mass was palpated at the right submandibular area. CT scan showed a large, well-defined, homogenous low density mass, measuring 5.0 × 2.5 × 4.0 cm. T1W MRI scan demonstrated a large, multiseptated homogenous low signal mass with septum and rim enhancement. Proton-density and T2W MRI scan showed mass of high signal intensity. MRI scan was able to delineate better the enhanced multi septation and extent of the lesion. Histopathologically, a lobulated cystic mass lined by a layer of flattened endothelium was observed.

  • In this paper, the scan conversion processor which converts the triangle represented by three vertices into pixel-level screen coordinates, depth coordinate, and color data is designed. The processor adopts scan-line algorithm which decomposes triangle into horizontal spans and then transforms the span into pixel data. By supporting top-left filling convention, it ensures that triangles that share an edge do not produce any dropouts or overlaps between adjacent polygons. It consists of about 21,400 gates and its maximum operating frequency is about 80 Mhz under 0.35um CMOS technology. Because its maximum pixel rate is about 80 Mpixels/sec, it can be applicable to mobile graphics application.

  • An efficient calibration algorithm for mobile robot localization using infrared range finder is proposed. A calibration is important to guarantee the performance of other algorithms which use sensor data because it is pre-process. We experimentally found that the infrared range finder PBS-03JN has error characteristics depending on both distance and scan angle. After obtaining 2-D grid error characteristic data on distance and scan angle, we proposed a simple and efficient calibration algorithm with a 2-D piecewise linear function set. The performance of our proposed calibration algorithm is verified by experiments and simulation.

  • In this paper, we present research results of developing high performance scan conversion unit and implementing it on FPGA chip. To increase performance of scan conversion unit, we propose an architecture of scan converter that is a SIMD architecture and uses tile-based traversing method. The proposed scan conversion unit can operate about 124Mhz clock frequency on Xilinx Vertex4 LX100 device. To verify the scan conversion unit, we also develop shader unit, texture mapping unit and $240{\times}320$ color TFT-LCD controller to display outputs of the scan conversion unit on TFT-LCD. Because the scan conversion unit implemented on FPGA has 311Mpixels/sec pixel rate, it is applicable to desktop pc's 3d graphics system as well as mobile 3d graphics system needing high pixel rates.

  • Mobile broadband wireless network is emerging as one of the hottest research areas due to technical advances, and the demands of users who wish to enjoy the same network experience on the move. In this paper, we investigate the handover process at the medium access control (MAC) layer in an IEEE 802.16e-based system. In particular, we identify problems concerned with the scan initiation Process called cell reselection and propose a received signal strength (RSS) estimation scheme to dynamically trigger a scanning process. We show how the RSS estimation scheme can timely initiate a scanning process by anticipating RSS values considering scan duration required.

  • This paper proposes a new method of estimating the position and heading angle of a mobile robot moving on a flat surface. The proposed localization method utilizes two passive beacons and a single rotating ultrasonic sensor. The passive beacons consist of two cylinders with different diameters and reflect the ultrasonic pulses coming from the sonar sensor mounted on the mobile robot. The geometric parameter set of beacon is acquired from the sonar scan data obtained at a single mobile robot location using a new data processing algorithm. Form this parameter set, the position and heading angle of the mobile robot is determined directly. The performance and validity of the proposed method are evaluated using two beacons and a single sonar sensor attached at the pan-tilt device mounted on a mobile robot, named LCAR, in our laboratory.

Boost Mobile Banking Monthly Active Customers with Vending Machines (자판기로 모바일뱅킹 월별 고객 활성화)

  • In China, commercial banks have launched mobile banking one after another, and the homogeneous products make the competition of mobile banking extremely fierce. Mobile banking monthly active users (MAU) is an important indicator to evaluate the operation results of mobile banking. How to improve mobile banking monthly active users is a problem faced by commercial banks. The purpose of this study is to explore strategies to increase monthly active customers of mobile banking with the help of vending machines. This research is carried out through the literature method and case method. The research results show that the use of vending machines can not only effectively increase the monthly active customers of mobile banking, but also realize the differentiation strategy to occupy the mobile banking terminal market. At the same time, this study is helpful and instructive for commercial banks to develop their business.

Fast Group Scanning Scheme in IEEE 802.16e Networks (IEEE 802.16e에서 그룹 기반의 빠른 스캐닝 기법)

  • The mobile station which is about to do handover in IEEE 802.16e networks scans its neighboring base station channels to decide its next target base station. However, due to the lack of location information of its subscribers, the serving base station cannot provide any reliable candidate channel which is actually attachable by the scanning mobile stations, which makes the mobile station suffer from the long scanning time. Sometimes, long scanning time may cause the degradation of quality of service due to repeatable scan-duration or failure to start the handover procedure in time. To overcome these problems, in this paper, we propose a new protocol so called fast group scanning scheme, in which multiple mobile stations form a group to scan their neighboring base station channels simultaneously. Main contribution of this proposal is to find and decide a reliable target base station within a short scanning time. The fast group scanning scheme can be deployed to the cell network of the serving base station with a dynamic neighboring base station list management.

A Design of 2D Vector Graphics Rasterizer with a Modified Scan-line Edge flag Algorithms for Mobile Device (모바일 기기를 위한 스캔라인 엣지 플래그 방식의 2D 벡터 그래픽 레스터라이저 설계)

  • Vector Graphics describes an image with mathematical statements instead of pixel information, Which enables easy scalability without loss in image quality and usually results in a much smaller file size compared with bitmap images. In this paper, we propose Vector Graphics Rasterizer for mobile device with scan-line edge flag algorithm. Proposed Vector Graphics Accelerator was verified with OpenVG 2D Vector image. The estimated performance of proposed Accelerator is 5 frame per second with Tiger image.
