The research in internetworking between UMTS and WLAN, which is completed with merits and demerits, Is actively progressed to establish global roaming environments. This internetworking is classified into two groups: loosely-coupled and tightly-coupled. h tightly-coupled mechanism demands lots of investment and considerable amountof time to construct, which is directly connoted between UNTS and WLAN via IWU. On the other hand, a tersely-coupled mechanism is more scalable and easier to implement than a tightly-coupled one while it has critical drawbacks of packet loss and blocking of services due to handover delay. To alleviate these drawbacks. this work proposes a handover scheme between UMTS and WLAN, which is based on HMIPv6. The performance of the proposed scheme is evaluated by the simaulation. The proposed internetworking scheme based on HMIPv6 shows hotter performance than those based on MIPv6.
(Mobile WiMAX), Long Term Evolution(LTE), IPv6 over Low power Wireless Personal Area Network(6LoWPAN)
For extending of hot-spot of WLAN, (2) proposes internetworking scheme between wireless LAN (WLAN) and mobile ad-hoc network (MANET), which employ the same layer-2 protocol with different mode. Compared to internetworking schemes between UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications Systems) and WLAN (3-4), the scheme from (2) has relatively low overhead and latencies because WLAN and MANET are physically and logically similar to each other. However, the mode switching algorithm proposed in r2] for internetworking between WLAN and MANET only considers signal strength and determines handoff, and mobile nodes following a zigzag course in pollution area may perform handoff at short intervals. Furthermore, (2) employs mobile IPv6 (MIPv6) at base, which brings still high delay on handoff and overhead due to signal message exchange. In this paper, we present optimized internetworking scheme between WLAN and MANET, modified from (2). To settle ping-pong handoff from (2), we propose adaptive mode switching algorithm. HMIPv6 is employed for IP connectivity and mobility service in WLAN, which solves some shortcomings, such as high handoff overhead and vulnerable security. For routing in MANET, OLSR is employed, which is a proactive Protocol and has optimally reduced signal broadcasting overhead. OLSR operates with current P protocol compatibly with no change or modification. The proposed internetworking scheme based on adaptive mode switching algorithm shows better performance than scheme from (2).

IP-based Wireless Sensor Networks (IP-WSNs) are gaining importance for their broad range of applications in health-care, home automation, environmental monitoring, industrial control, vehicle telematics and agricultural monitoring. In all these applications, mobility in the sensor network with special attention to energy efficiency is a major issue to be addressed. Because of the energy inefficiency of networks-based mobility management protocols can be supported in IP-WSN. In this paper we propose a network based mobility supported IP-WSN protocol called Multicasting-based inter-Domain Mobility Management Scheme in Sensor-based Fast Proxy Mobile IPv6 Networks (mSFP). Based on [8,20], We present its network architecture and evaluate its performance by considering the signaling and mobility cost. Our analysis shows that the proposed scheme reduces the signaling cost, total cost, and mobility cost. With respect to the number of IP-WSN nodes, the proposed scheme reduces the signaling cost by 7% and the total cost by 3%. With respect to the number of hops, the proposed scheme reduces the signaling cost by 6.9%, the total cost by 2.5%, and the mobility cost by 1.5%. With respect to the number of IP-WSN nodes, the proposed scheme reduces the mobility cost by 1.6%.
The PMIPv6 is a network controlled mobility management protocol in which mobile nodes never participate in IP mobility protocol signaling. One issue in using PMIPv6 for multicast service is that a new component should be added as the mobility management functions are located not on the device but on the network. Currently, standardization activities for providing muticast services with PMIPv6 have been actively in progress. This paper addresses some issues about the on-going standardization works for providing efficient real-time multicast services with PMIPv6, and proposes a scheme for minimizing hand over delays and packet losses by using a new neighbor cell reporting method. The proposed scheme has been verified to outperform the existing scheme in hand over delay and packet loss perfonnrmces by using computer simulations.
Fourth-generation (4G) wireless networks will be the IP-based cellular networks integrating Internet with the existing cellular networks. Two important issues should be concerned in the IP-based cellular networks, IP mobility, and quality-of-service (QoS) guarantees. In this paper, we proposed two mechanisms to solve the problems with IP mobility and RSVP-based QoS provisioning. First, virtual-IP (VIP) allocation scheme in areas with a large rate of handoff can minimize the wireless signaling overhead due to IP mobility. The access routers (ARs) create dynamically the VIP zone by using the measured handoff rate derived from the history of the handoff into neighboring ARs. We show that VIP allocation scheme reduces the binding update messages in the wireless link than hierarchical mobile IPv6. Second, the new advance resource reservation protocol called proportional aggregate RSVP (PA-RSVP) can minimize waste of bandwidth and soft state refresh overhead due to IP mobility. It allocates the bandwidth in advance between the mobility anchor point and neighboring ARs using proportional aggregate reservation. We also show that PA-RSVP provides an improved performance over existing protocols.

Most of the current mobility management protocols such as MIPv4/6 and its variants standardized by the IETF do not support global seamless handover. This is because they require comprehensive changes of the existing network infrastructure. In this article, we propose a simple mobility management protocol (SMMP) which can support global seamless handover between homogeneous or heterogeneous wireless networks. The idea is that the SMMP employs separate location management function as done in SIP to support global user and service mobility. In addition, the bidirectional tunnels are dynamically constructed to support seamless IP mobility by extending the IEEE 802.21 MIH standards. The detailed architecture and functions of the SMMP have been designed. Finally, the simulation results, using NS-2, show that the proposed SMMP outperforms the existing MIPv6 and HMIPv6 in terms of handover latency, packet loss, pear signal noise ratio (PSNR).

Most of the previous mobility management protocols such as IETF MIPv4/6 and its variants standardized by the IETF do not support global seamless handover because they require partially changes of the existing network infrastructure. In this article, we propose a simple mobility management protocol (SMMP) which can support global seamless handover between homogeneous or heterogeneous wireless networks. To do this, the SMMP employs separate location management function as DMMS to support global user and service mobility and the bidirectional tunnels are dynamically constructed to support seamless IP mobility by using the IEEE MIH extension server, which is extended the IEEE 802.21 MIH standards. The detailed architecture and functions of the SMMP have been designed. Finally, the mathematical analysis and the simulation have been done. The performance results show the proposed SMMP outperforms the existing MIPv6 and HMIPv6 in terms of handover latency, packet loss, pear signal noise ratio (PSNR).
