  • The mobile device users have been increasing significantly because of the development of Social network system and network technologies. Because of this popularity, there are various games in market based on the combination of the mobile device with social networks. It will be the potential market within the mobile games with the growth of popularity in various users. This paper proposes the possibilities for the development of mobile game in educational contents through the case study of the popular mobile games.

  • With 3.6 million user of mobile phone, there has been a rapid develop ment of advanced mobile game taking advantage of various mobile phone functions. Most of all, LBS(location-Based Service) mobile game is expected to make a new mobile game market which is totally different from the previous one. The purpose of this paper, thus, is to review the present condition of LBS mobile game and possibilities. Furthermore, it is also to analyze the facing problems to solve and find the way to promote the LBS mobile game service.

  • The paradigm of mobile game contents move from 2D to 3D due to the development of the recent mobile technology and the change of the market environment. Therefore the game manufacturers are concerned about them but the game is developed in the 3D solution manufacturers which have high technology and some major CP and the game is served through the mobile telecommunication companies. Almost of the small CP in Korea ·also judge the mobile 3D game as a next source of benefit so they prepare the development of the mobile 3D game in the future value in market and the industry survival strategy but the game has defects. They take more developing hours and cost than the 2D game and the lack of manpower for the development and the information. Therefore, in this study, we researched the manufacturing environment being the optimization of mobile environment and developing process of 3D game in order to grope for overcoming different these circumstances.

A Game Theoretic Approach to the Channel Conflict Due to the Subsidies for Mobile Handsets (단말기보조금에 따른 경로갈등에 대한 게임이론적 접근)

  • This study was motivated by a recent channel conflict on subsidies for mobile handset between a service provider and a handset manufacturer in the mobile communication market. In this study, we have developed a two-person non-zero sum game for the channel conflict on subsidies for mobile handset, and derived its optimal strategic game solution. As a result, we have found that, between the service operator and the handset manufacturer, one who has high level of market leadership in his own market has a power to affect the optimal strategic game solution. We have also found that, when the service operator and the handset manufacturer have relatively high level of market leadership in their own market, there exist both of potential channel conflict and cooperation. The result of this study may provide an effective reference for a solution of similar channel conflicts.

  • After the introduction stage, Korean mobile game market is approaching to the growing stage leading mobile contents market. The environment for the mobile contents business is getting better by the expansion of the 3G mobile networks and the enhancement of the mobile devices. In this research, at a content level, not a service level, market success factors of mobile games and the differences by genres and their changes over time were investigated through the analysis of the real market data of mobile games launched by a Korean mobile carrier. The most important factors for market success, especially for the genres of RPG/Tycoon/Simulation and Shooting/Action/Arcade, were found to be the 'design' factor and its effect turned to be getting stronger as time goes by after the launch. Consumers' purchase rate was actually higher for the mobile games of popular genres or in relation with socially popular subject matters. Also 'design' and 'creativity' factors which are related to the quality of contents, have gotten more important over time. One of the most interesting results was that there existed a "blue ocean" genres like Sports/Racing/Leisure which had a steady demand but not many competing games. In the analysis of the 'convenience' factor, one interesting implication for mobile game producers was that there exists a trade off between the ease of initial adoption and the steady sales of a mobile game.

A Study on the Factor Which Causes the Imbalance Between DAU and Game Purchase in the Mobile Game Market - With an emphasis on Google Play Free Games - (모바일 게임 시장에서 DAU와 게임 구매간의 불균형성을 발생시키는 요인에 대한 고찰 - 구글 플레이 무료게임을 중심으로 -)

  • The mobile game market is fast growing after the Kakao game launched. Especially, the market is placed at the second highest by occupying 33.1% of the market. However, the rate of the total sales amount is only 6%, showing quite an imbalance between the market occupancy and the sales amount. This means that the profit-making models are not stabilized yet in the mobile game market. The absence of profit-making models can be ascertained by the relationship of DAU and sales ranking. There are several games which are ranked at DAU Top10 among Google free games, but not ranked at top 10 among sales amounts. On the other hand, there are several games which are low in DAU ranking but high in sales amount ranking. This result shows that there is no direct interrelation between the product attractiveness which users feel and the profit-making models in the market. This study compared the Google play free games which are ranked at top 10 in terms of DAU ranking and sales amount ranking to find out the factor which causes the imbalance between the DAU ranking and sales amount ranking. Based on this outcome, this study presents the reference point for the design of profit-making models on behalf of the manufacturers who wish to launch into the mobile game market in the future.

Factors Influencing the Knowledge Adoption of Mobile Game Developers in Online Communities: Focusing on the HSM and Data Quality Framework

  • Recently, with the advance of the wireless Internet access via mobile devices, a myriad of game development companies have forayed into the mobile game market, leading to intense competition. To survive in this fierce competition, mobile game developers often try to get a grasp of the rapidly changing needs of their customers by operating their own official communities where game users freely leave their requests, suggestions, and ideas relevant to focal games. Based on the heuristic-systematic model (HSM) and the data quality (DQ) framework, this study derives key content, non-content, and hybrid cues that can be utilized when game developers accept suggested postings in these online communities. The results of hierarchical multiple regression analysis show that relevancy, timeliness, amount of writing, and the number of comments are positively associated with mobile game developers' knowledge adoption. In addition, title attractiveness mitigates the relationship between amount of writing/the number of comments and knowledge adoption.

  • Despite the game market's expanding results from the increase of new users of mobile-game market, online-game market is faced with a stagnation. And the increase of income online-game's market share leads to decline of growth of the domestic online-game market. Online-game's growth potential is still valid, and the domestic online-games are still popular in foreign markets. But if the problem of domestic game market is not overcome, the falling behind in the competition is only a matter of time. The major problem is the lack of support measures and reduced competitiveness. On these issues, this research presents a plan to revitalizing of the online-game.

  • This paper aims to grasp the status of dispute and relevant issues, focusing on cases resolved by the Contents Dispute Resolution Committee. In consequence, this paper reviewed and addressed many issues like the mobile game of pre-school children, game disputes between telecommunication service providers and other domestic companies, responsibility of game-developing companies, necessity of efforts (led by the service providers) for establishing the system to prevent damage, and increase of awareness on damage redeemed by companies. Additionally, this study enables us to understand that the system of dispute resolution pays a pivotal role to help disputers resolve issues in a reasonable way and that self-imposed confidence is absolutely required in the mobile open market.

  • In the field of mobile games, social network games are steadily increasing in market scale and public interest every year. This paper proposes a method to design a social network game, which is one of the most successful genres in mobile games. The method uses Unity3D, the most commonly used engine for mobile game development. NGUI, a versatile developmental tool of Unity3D, is used to create shops and battle UIs. This paper particularly focuses on how to use the web hosting service to search and operate the necessary data from the database in the server. In addition, the proposed social network game is easy to implement real-time battle using Animator and Raycast, and is characterized by efficient battle implementation through time delay using Coroutine function.
