The Effect of Game Platform Evaluation and Flow Experience on Player Loyalty in Mobile Game Application (모바일 게임 플랫폼 평가 및 플로우경험이 게임사용자의 애호도에 미치는 영향)

  • In the 4th Industrial age, mobile games are a highly competitive but highly profitable industry, with hundreds of games per day. To produce a successful mobile game, it is necessary to understand the mobile environment and consumers in the mobile era, and a study that can provide implications for the importance of various factors is needed. The purpose of this study is to explore the in- and out-of-game factors that influence the success of mobile games and to examine the relationship between these factors and customer satisfaction and loyalty. As a result, the game platform's system quality and service quality had a positive effect on the evaluation, and the price policy did not have a significant effect on the evaluation. Also in the flow factor, goal and interaction (relationship) had a positive effect on the flow, and skill or challenge did not have a significant effect. The effects of flow and platform evaluation on customer loyalty were all positively affected. First. Companies must derive customer opinions and actions about the game through continuous interaction with customers. Second, if the game gives customers the proper goals and functions to enable the interaction between users, more successful games can be developed.

  • 2022년 국내 게임 시장 규모는 2021년 대비 8.5% 성장한 22조 7,723억 원에 달할 것으로 전망했으며, 눈에 띄는 건 모바일 게임의 시장 규모이다. 국내 모바일 게임 시장의 규모가 해를 거듭할수록 증가하고 있는 상황에 글로벌 게임 시장에서의 경쟁력 확보와 매출 증대를 위해서는 게임 업체에서 개발하는 게임의 품질에 대한 보증을 확보할 수 있는 완성도 높은 게임을 출시하는 것이 무엇보다 중요한 요소이다. 본 논문에서는 게임 시장에서 전세계 소비자 지출 중에 절반이 넘는 비중을 차지하는 모바일 게임에 대해서 완성도 높은 모바일 게임을 출시를 위해서는 개발도 중요한 부분이지만 개발과 함께 출시하는 게임에 대한 완성도를 검증하는 효과적인 자동화 테스트에 대한 방안을 제시하고자 한다.

Market Success factors of Mobile Games: Differences by Genres and Changes over Time (모바일 게임의 시장 성공 요소: 게임 장르별 차이와 출시 후 시간 경과에 따른 변화)

  • After the introduction stage, Korean mobile game market is approaching to the growing stage leading mobile contents market. The environment for the mobile contents business is getting better by the expansion of the 3G mobile networks and the enhancement of the mobile devices. In this research, at a content level, not a service level, market success factors of mobile games and the differences by genres and their changes over time were investigated through the analysis of the real market data of mobile games launched by a Korean mobile carrier. The most important factors for market success, especially for the genres of RPG/Tycoon/Simulation and Shooting/Action/Arcade, were found to be the 'design' factor and its effect turned to be getting stronger as time goes by after the launch. Consumers' purchase rate was actually higher for the mobile games of popular genres or in relation with socially popular subject matters. Also 'design' and 'creativity' factors which are related to the quality of contents, have gotten more important over time. One of the most interesting results was that there existed a "blue ocean" genres like Sports/Racing/Leisure which had a steady demand but not many competing games. In the analysis of the 'convenience' factor, one interesting implication for mobile game producers was that there exists a trade off between the ease of initial adoption and the steady sales of a mobile game.

Implementation of Android-based Interactive Edutainment Contents Using Authoring Tool Developed for Interactive Animation

  • In this paper, we developed an interactive animation authoring tool and developed the Android based interactive edutainment contents. The authoring tool for creating interactive animations developed in this paper is based on a graphical user interface, so users can easily create interactive animations. Interactive animation contents created by this authoring tool can be created as images and xml files so that they can be used directly on mobile devices. In order to increase learning efficiency for children, Android-based interactive edutainment electronic storybooks, which is implemented using this authoring tool, provided a recording function to listen to the parents' voice as well as an interactive action in which the characters move in accordance with the story line. We also provided a STEAM game that combines creativity and imagination with creative science and technology. Therefore, by creating the edutainment contents through the proposed authoring tool for interactive animation, various interactive animation contents could be produced more easily than the code implementation method. Through this study, I hope that it will be helpful for the development of various interactive edutainment contents to provide educational contents considering the quantity and quality to infants.

Factors Affecting User Satisfaction of Mobile Social Network Games: Focusing on the Quality and Self-determination (모바일 소셜 네트워크 게임 이용만족에 영향을 미치는 요인: 품질과 자기결정성 요인을 중심으로)

  • This study was conducted to evaluate and identify what factors influence the satisfaction of the users for the fast-growing social network game based on the mobile. To this end, we looked around the variable product characteristic factor, quality and the consumer characteristic factor, user self-determination. Also we surveyed 211 male and female college students. The first finding was that all the sub-factors of the quality factor had positive effects on the satisfaction of the mobile social network games. The second finding was that all the sub-factors of the self-determination factor had positive effects on the satisfaction of the mobile social network games. The third finding was that only the sub-factors of quality had positive relative effects on the satisfaction of the mobile social network games, in the order of playfulness, usability, functionality from the most to the least. The findings of this study are expected to offer meaningful and practical suggestions for the development of high quality game contents for the user convenience, as well as the academic significance, the expansion of game-related area of research through the break from the traditional research trends, technology and engineering point of view and from the PC-based online game.

  • Most games based on PCs or consoles at present show vivid special effects and brilliance sceneries. However, the other games running on mobiles and portable devices can not show magnificent scenes because of low hardware specifications such as slow CPU, old graphics card and battery capacity. These games relatively prefer light and casual contents that do not need tremendous calculation. It is very important to keep minimum of game graphics quality in those games. Thus this research presents the new possibility of variable indexed color palettes to overcome the low hardware capacities.

Global on-line game market is small but stability growing. Thus Microsoft invest on line game. On this paper, one of a java network turn game system called by "Hoola" is designed and implemented. This Application consist of Client/Server and Database module and multi-tier Architecture, because of easily translation to PDA or mobile phone.

  • In the paper, we developed the mobile based rehabilitation system for patients with upper extremity hemiplegia after stroke and evaluated clinical usefulness and effectiveness of the system. The sensors built in the smartphone were used to track patients' upper limb motion and the movements was transferred to the tablet PC through bluetooth connection so that the game contents could be interact with the movements. The rehabilitation game contents was based on Brunnstrom stage(B-stage), and was designed to lead accurate movement of upper limb. For the clinical evaluation of the effectiveness, 11 patients were recruited and make them perform an exercise of their wrist, shoulder, and forearm using the system for two weeks. The change of upper limb motor function was measured using fugl-meyer assessment(FMA), Brunnstrom stage(B-stage). And the change of quality of life was measured using EuroQoL-5 Dimension(EQ-5D), Beck Depression Inventory(BDI). The results showed significant improvement in upper limb function but not in quality of life. We verified mobile based rehabilitation program could be useful and effective for the clinical use.

  • It is no longer special for the gaming industry to provide a community to promote their games. Much prior research related to the community also focuses on the spread of community influence and its importance. In particular, the user community in the gaming industry is having a big impact on the company's revenue creation beyond the simple level of information provision and promotion of friendship. Therefore, providing a community at the same time as the game is released is becoming a common trend in the gaming industry This study attempted to explore factors influencing the design of more effective communities under the assumption that the user community will influence the loyalty of mobile games. The design elements of the community suggested in this study are the provision of interaction tools between users, the provision of information, and communication between the game maker and the users. This study aims to confirm that these design factors affect customer loyalty by reinforcing user empathy and trust in the game within the user community. After collecting data from 251 users active in the mobile game user community, the model presented in this study was empirically analyzed. As a result, the design elements of the game community suggested in this study were found to affect customer loyalty by strengthening the empathy for the game and the trust in the game developer.
