  • In this paper, we suggest the active multi-agent middleware for the sensor network application. For this, firstly we design and implement the active rule based mobile agent middleware. The mobile agent in the proposed system visits the destination sensor nodes according to the migration list offered by the meta table in the name space of the naming agent, acquires and transmits sensor data according to the purpose and needs through the active rules, and directly executes the actions corresponding to the optional events(changed sensor data and/or time etc.). And then, we show the potential applicability of the active rule based mobile agent middleware in various active sensor networks through the interaction with the rule base system and context database system.

  • Due to the development of the Internet, there are a lot of information around, and the amount of this information is growing exponentially. The information management systems, which are built to manage the numerous amount of information, helps the user retrieve information more accurately and efficiently. However, mobile systems and its built-in file systems, lack in information management and has a limited processing power for real-time data. This paper suggests the middleware system for effective management of large data and enabling real-time data processing. To show the possibility of middleware, the paper implemented a real-time alarm scheduler, which links web database systems and mobile phones.

  • Nowadays mobile users are using a popular service called Location-Based Services (LBS). LBS is very helpful for a mobile user in finding various Point of Interests (POIs) in their vicinity. To get these services, users must provide their personal information, such as user identity or current location, which severely risks the location privacy of the user. Many researchers are developing schemes that enable a user to use these LBS services anonymously, but these approaches have some limitations (i.e., either the privacy prevention mechanism is weak or the cost of the solution is too much). As such, we are presenting a robust scheme for mobile users that allows them to use LBS anonymously. Our scheme involves a client side application that interacts with an untrusted LBS server to find the nearest POI for a service required by a user. The scheme is not only efficient in its approach, but is also very practical with respect to the computations that are done on a client's resource constrained device. With our scheme, not only can a client anonymously use LBS without any use of a trusted third party, but also a server's database is completely secure from the client. We performed experiments by developing and testing an Android-based client side smartphone application to support our argument.

  • This study considers zone-based registration (ZBR), which is adopted by most mobile cellular networks. In ZBR, a user equipment (UE) registers its location area (or zone) in a network database (DB) whenever it enters a new zone. Even though ZBR is implemented in most networks for a UE to keep only one zone (1ZR), it is also possible for a UE to keep multiple zones. Therefore, a ZBR with two zones (2ZR) is investigated, and some mathematical models for 2ZR are presented. With respect to ZBR with three zones (3ZR), several studies have been reported, but these employed computer simulations owing to the complexity of the cases, and there have been no reports on a mathematical 3ZR model to analyze its performance. In this study, we propose a new mathematical model for 3ZR for the first time, and analyze the performance of 3ZR using this model. The numerical results for various scenarios show that, as the UE frequently enters zones, the proposed 3ZR model outperforms 1ZR and 2ZR. Our results help determine the optimal number of zones that a UE keeps, and minimize the signaling cost for radio channels in mobile cellular networks.

  • When a person tries to conceal emotions, real emotions will manifest themselves in the form of micro-expressions. Research on facial micro-expression recognition is still extremely challenging in the field of pattern recognition. This is because it is difficult to implement the best feature extraction method to cope with micro-expressions with small changes and short duration. Most methods are based on hand-crafted features to extract subtle facial movements. In this study, we introduce a method that incorporates optical flow and deep learning. First, we take out the onset frame and the apex frame from each video sequence. Then, the motion features between these two frames are extracted using the optical flow method. Finally, the features are inputted into an improved MobileNetV2 model, where SVM is applied to classify expressions. In order to evaluate the effectiveness of the method, we conduct experiments on the public spontaneous micro-expression database CASME II. Under the condition of applying the leave-one-subject-out cross-validation method, the recognition accuracy rate reaches 53.01%, and the F-score reaches 0.5231. The results show that the proposed method can significantly improve the micro-expression recognition performance.

  • Precaution is important in cardiac disease above all things. However, current developed tele-monitoring devices limit their communication distance by 100 m and have disadvantage that the device must be activated by the patients themselves. To overcome these shortcomings, we design and implement a cardiac disease management system by sending abnormal ECG signals automatically to the PC in hospital using mobile networks. Experiments show that ECG signals of the patients are transmitted to the database server in hospital without any distortion. Moreover, the amount of SMS data decreased by more than 30% using base64 method than hexadecimal one.

  • This study focuses on a better understanding of the importance of risk perception in adopting Mobile Payment Systems (MPS) by conducting a systematic literature review. From the social science field (using Scopus and Web of Science database) articles were selected. Overall, forty-four significant pieces were determined using a systematic methodology. In addition to providing a summary of the most used theories used to address perceived risk in MPS this paper also investigates the definition for the perceived risk in MPS literature. The study is performed through the identification of dominant theories used to explain perceived risk in the literature. The article gives a thematic analysis of theories and the relation of perceived risk with behavioural intention. As far as we know, this is the first effort of its kind to give a holistic, systematic literature review in light of perceived risk in MPS. Consequently, it is a crucial first step in establishing a solid theoretical framework involving the constructs of perceived risk and laying the groundwork for future research in this area.
