  • A security robot system named EGIS-SR is a mobile security robot through one of the new growth engine project in robotic industries. It allows home surveillance through an autonomous mobile platform using onboard cameras and wireless security sensors. EGIS-SR has many sensors to allow autonomous navigation, hierarchical control architecture to handle lots of situations in monitoring home surveillance and mighty networks to achieve unmanned security services. EGIS-SR is tightly coupled with a networked security environment, where the information of the robot is remotely connected with the remote cockpit and patrol man. It achieved an intelligent unmanned security service. The robot is a two-wheeled mobile robot and has casters and suspension to overcome a doorsill. The dynamic motion is verified through $ADAMS^{TM}$ simulation. For the main controller, PXA270 based hardware platform based on linux kernel 2.6 is developed. In the linux platform, data handling for various sensors and the localization algorithm are performed. Also, a local path planning algorithm for object avoidance with ultrasonic sensors and localization using $StarGazer^{TM}$ is developed. Finally, for the automatic charging, a docking algorithm with infrared ray system is implemented.

  • In this paper, an MQTT based protocol is designed and implemented for control, management and monitoring of HVAC in a cloud platform in real time. The MQTT protocol is a two-way messaging protocol, and has the generality, flexibility, light weighted, quickness with reliability and security. In the implemented system, performance and reliability of the communication protocol is considered for data acquisition and control between the CCU and the cloud server. Control and monitoring for the cloud server is performed in real time in conjunction with CCU and the MQTT server.

  • In this paper, we propose the Distributed Power Saving Control System that enables the active and intelligent control(on/off and/or dimming control) of the lightning device using sensors and mobile agents. The proposed system is effective for energy saving and induces cost reductions in design and development of power saving control system as adding remote-monitoring or controlling functions is easier with the application of a variety of active rules. Moreover, the system improves the effectiveness of the acquired sensing data by real-time event handling and device controlling using a mobile agent based sensor network middleware that regularize the contextual information or a user's emotion. The results of this paper present the potential applicability of the proposed distributed control system using mobile agent in various active sensor network applications.

  • This paper presents an emergency brushless synchronous generator having rotating exciter status monitoring and protection functions. For monitoring the rotating exciter status, a wireless rotor status detector and a digital AVR(Automatic Voltage Regulator), which has a wireless communication capability, are proposed. The proposed rotor status detector detects temperatures of exciter armature and main field windings and input voltage and current of the main field. Therefore, it is possible to protect the generator from the over-temperature of windings and detect the exciter bridge diode fault. Furthermore, the proposed digital AVR has rotor status monitoring and protection function, and remote generator tuning, wireless group parallel operation function. So the operator can efficiently operate the generator using a smartphone from a remote area.

  • Recently, there are lots of concerning on robot agent system working for itself with the trends of the research of bio-mimetic system and intelligent robot. In this paper, a virtual 3D interface system is proposed based on Internet for remote controlling and monitoring of mobile robot. The proposed system is constructed as manager-agent model. A worker can order the robot agent move to a new position by clicking the destination on virtual space of 3D graphic interface in manager. Then the robot agent move to the position automatically with avoiding collision by using range finding and autonomous control algorithm. The proposed robot agent system lets us control the mobile robot remotely located more conveniently.

  • It is necessary to develop a real-time monitoring system for electric facilities, operating and managing system for the accident prevention of electrical demand facilities anytime, anywhere. In this paper, we propose the implementation of distributing board monitoring system based on Internet of Things(IoT). The proposed system is installed in existing distributing board that it can transmit status information of distributing board and control information through the cloud server and the wireless local area network. The distributing board monitoring system can monitor and control the condition of distributing board by system administrator. The results show that the margin of error was ${\pm}5%$ in performance evaluation.

  • A recent advance in RFID technology is one of the major technological drives in reducing cost in logistics, distribution and even in the manufacturing sector. However, currently the technology is practically accepted only in the area of logistics and inventory control. The characteristic of these application areas is that the technology is used in the controllable environment. In this paper, we discuss a case study of using active and passive RFID technologies to automatically gather process information in the mold factory. Active RFID tags are attached on the main parts of molds and their positions in the floor are tracked with the routers. We also discuss on the idea of using mobile device with RFID reader to inquire information for molds on the spot in the factory floor. The inquirable information includes 3D design data and basic mold data. The paper shows implementation results with hardware configuration for the testbed.

  • An uninterruptible power supply (UPS) allows small companies and domestic users to cope with power outages; but existing designs lack flexibility of control and require expensive battery maintenance, with a cost proportional to the outage compensation time. We combine a compact synchronous generator with a battery, with 10% of the capacity that would otherwise be required, to obtain a UPS with reduced maintenance costs for the same performance. Any UPS must respond immediately to a power loss, and our uninterruptible generator supply (UGS) is therefore built around real-time scheduling of its internal operations; this also makes it suitable for integration into the industrial gateway. The UGS is based on a real-time operating system, with an integrated wireless module providing connectivity to a web server, for monitoring and management, which can be performed remotely on a mobile device.
