  • In this paper, we propose the method to improve the performance of the antenna system that contains three bands, such as Lte3G, WLAN and Lte4G. This antenna has an advantage that can cover the three different frequency bands 2.1GHz, 2.4GHz and 2.6GHz through one antenna design. The design and simulations are done using CST Microwave Studio 2014 program. The antenna is designed by using the FR-4 (lossy) substrate with the dielectric constant of er=4.3 and dielectric loss tangent 0.025. The substrate dimensions are the following; Thickness[h] is 1.6mm, Length is 90mm, and Width is 40mm. The ground is designed by using the PEC material with h=0.035mm. The patch is designed by using the copper with h=0.035mm. In the near future, we will fabricate the antenna, which we have designed, and then apply this antenna to the mobile communication system. And we will test this mobile communication system for the diverse environments.

  • In this paper, the relay antenna was designed in consideration of the performance of the 28GHz band 5G mobile communication relay horn antenna, such as radiation pattern and return loss. A horn array for 5G mobile communication repeater was designed by arranging the antenna elements in phase, and the performance was analyzed. Unlike conventional WCDMA (3G) and LTE (4G), in millimeter wave band communication, high path loss occurs between transmission and reception. In the design of a 5G millimeter wave horn antenna, antenna performance such as isolation and gain between antenna elements as well as gain and bandwidth of the antenna must be additionally considered. The antenna gain of the single horn antenna (1×1) and the array horn antenna (2×4) in the 28GHz band is about 10.44d Bi and 19.58dBi, respectively, and the return loss is designed to be less than -18dB. It has proven its validity and has been shown to be suitable for application to 5G mobile communication relay system.

  • Motivated by the Communication Broadcasting Convergence service, various technical approaches are being used to develop more efficient antenna models. This paper proposes a compact mobile antenna which is attachable to a cell phone and is applicable for Communication Broadcasting Convergence. In the design of the antennas for mobile handsets, size reduction is a crucial factor. In this paper, the compactness of a loop antenna is realized by bending a folded-dipole. A short planar dipole is transformed to a twice folded dipole and a loop antenna to produce a larger input resistance. The current distribution of the antenna is the same as a loop antenna, and its radiation patterns are omni-directional. We also analyze the performance of the RFID antenna by exploring the current-induced near field radiation patterns using a electro-optic field mapping system.

  • A mobile antenna for multimedia communications with Ku-band geostationary satellite KOREASAT-3 and JSAT-2A is presented. The forward link of the satellite communication is 11.7 to 12.75 GHz, and the return link is 14.0 to 14.5 GHz. The mobile antenna is designed to be a stair structure using 24 active phased array elements in order to provide a low profile, and to be at a non-periodic array distance using the genetic algorithm. Also, the designed antenna uses the double beam forming method for stable satellite tracking. The fabricated mobile antenna is examined using various experiments to confirm its capability for practical application. From the measured results, the fabricated mobile antenna system is confirmed to have a good performance.

  • In this paper, we study the complex mobile antenna for WPT(Wireless Power Transfer) with NFC(Near Field Communication) of inductive coupling using FPCB which has half thickness compared with the existing coil type antennas. Considering the pattern thickness of loop antenna, the analysis of electromagnetic wave absorber and battery's influence, absorber thickness, the ranges of design parameters are obtained. The proposed antenna has 0.45 mm thickness using single layer 3 oz FPCB and absorber. From measurement, the characteristics of NFC antenna can be satisfied with the specifications of EMVCo. and domestic mobile telecommunication and the transmission efficiency of the proposed WPT antenna is 68.1 % which is competitive with the existing coil type antenna. From the results of this paper, it has been confirmed that the proposed antenna can be used as the WPT and NFC antenna for mobile phone. Key words: Wireless Power Transfer, Near Field Communication, Mobile Phone Antenna, Absorber, FPCB.

  • In general, a wireless communication device has employed a whip antenna or a stubby antenna. Recently, wireless communication device is increasingly employing an embedded antenna, Intenna, for the sake of miniaturization. Further, it may employ both external and embedded antennas. Examples of the embedded antenna include a multi-band monopole antenna, which radiates uniformly in all directions when viewed from above, and a planar inverted F antenna (PIFA), which is a variation of the monopole antenna. However, since the conventional antenna is mounted in a finished state on the mobile communication terminal, there is a limitation of space required for providing the antenna. According to the present study, there is provided an Intenna that is deposited on a front or back case of the mobile communication terminal by a sputtering method. Accordingly, it is possible to overcome a limitation of space required for providing the Intenna and to improve the performance of the Intenna formed on the front or back case of the mobile communication terminal.

  • The 4-th generation of mobile communication aims to realize global, fast and mobile communication service. The satellite communication charges a key role in this field. In this study, an OTM(On-The-Move) antenna which is mounted on ground vehicles and is used for mobile communication between vehicle and satellite was addressed. Since vehicles move during communication, active antenna line-of-sight stabilization is a core technology to guarantee high satellite communication quality. Stabilization of a satellite tracking antenna which consists of 2-DOF gimbals, an elevation gimbal over an azimuth gimbal, was considered in this study. Various disturbance torques such as static and dynamic mass imbalance torques, variation of moment of inertia according to elevation angle, friction torque related to vehicle motion, equivalent disturbance torque due to antenna roll motion, etc. were analyzed. As a robust stabilization control, rate feedback with sliding mode control and position feedback with proportional+integral control was suggested. To compensate antenna roll motion, a supplementary roll rate feed forward control was included beside of the feedback control loop. The feasibility of the analysis and the proposed control design were verified along with some simulation results.

  • The objective of this paper is to design broadband microstrip patch antenna for mobile communication service. The enhanced features were confirmed and proved by comparing the proposed antenna with the antennae that have been reported in the relevant literatures. The experimental results show that the impedance bandwidth(VSWR ${\leq}2$) of 19.6%(fo=1,920MHz) and the peak gain of 5.53dBi(at 1,900MHz) were obtained by the mobile communication service frequency band. The proposed antenna had the impedance bandwidth of about 3.1% larger than that of the reported microstrip antenna.
