In mobile Internet environment, providing multicast requires much more complex mechanism comparing with the unicast Mobile IP routing protocol. This is because multicast datagrams are sent to a group address that do not belong to a specific network. The IETF Mobile IP suggested two approaches for mobile multicasting, namely remote subscription and hi-directional tunneling. In remote subscription, a mobile node may join a group via a local multicast router on the visited subnet. Therefore remote subscription may cause much datagram loss while reconstructing the delivery tee. In bi-directional tunneling, a mobile node may join a group via a hi-directional tunnel to its home agent. Bi-directional tunneling may suffer from inefficient routing. In this paper, we proposed a new mobile multicasting protocol, Mobile If Multicast using Local Broadcast(MIMLB) which can receive multicast datagrams as fast as possible and optimize routing path for multicast delivery. The MIMLB protocol uses hi-directional tunneling to receive multicast datagrams. And the MIMLB protocol can resolve datagram duplicated problem and optimize routing path by using local broadcast. Simulation results show that MIMLB reduces delivery path length and optimizes multicast routing path when a mobile nod? moves into a foreign network.
Broadcast has been often used to disseminate the frequently requested data efficiently to a large volume of mobile units over a single or multiple channels. Since the mobile units have limited battery power, the minimization of the access time for the broadcast data is an important problem. There have been many research efforts that focus on the improvement if the broadcast techniques by providing indexes on the broadcast data. In this paper, we studied an efficient index allocation method for the broadcast data over multiple physical channels, which cannot be coalesced into a single high bandwidth channel. Previously proposed index allocation techniques either require the equal size of index and data or have a performance degradation problem when the number of given physical channels is not enough. These two problems will result in the increased average access time for the broadcast data. To cope with these problems, we propose an efficient tree- structured index allocation method for the broadcast data with different access frequencies over multiple physical channels. Our method minimizes the average access time for the broadcast data by broadcasting the hot data and their indexes more often than the less hot data and their indexes. We present an in-0e0th experimental and theoretical analysis of our method by comparing it with other similar techniques. Our performance analysis shows that it significantly decrease the average access time for the broadcast data over existing methods.
The demand on various broadcasting services has been greatly increasing in the area of mobile communication. In IEEE802.16e standard and mobile WiMAX, the multicast broadcast service (MBS) uses shared downlink channel for efficiently supporting a number of users. In this paper we propose a dynamic modulation and coding scheme with relay network to enhance the performance of MBS. The proposed approach employs the adaptive modulation and coding scheme for both the base station and relay station to achieve consistently high throughput. The result of computer simulation with NS-2 shows that the throughput and transmission time are significantly improved by using the proposed approach compared to the existing schemes having a fixed modulation level for the RSs.
Mobile computing becomes a new issue of researches in computing due to the advances of mobile equipment and the connection with Internet. In mobile environment, there are many constraints such as limited bandwidth, intermittent disconnection, limited battery life, and so on. By these reasons, broadcasting has been generally used to disseminate data efficiently by the mobile applications. This paper proposes an adaptive broadcasting method which logically divides broadcast channel into the periodic broadcast channel and the on-demand broadcast channel and dynamically assigns the bandwidths of both channel. The former disseminates data that are selected based on both the popularity and the size of each datum, the latter disseminates data that are selected based on the requests of mobile clients. When selecting data to be disseminated, the proposed broadcasting method considers the mobility of a mobile client and also considers the size of each datum by using SF(size factor) proposed in this paper. This paper also evaluates the proposed broadcasting method by measuring the energy expenditure of mobile client in experiments.

In mobile ad hoc networks(MANETs), each node rebroadcast received route request packets for route discovery. Flooding from large number of nodes induces the broadcast storm problem which causes severe degradation in network performance due to redundant retransmission, collision and contention. This paper presents a node status algorithm based on probabilistic scheme to alleviate the broadcast storm problem for wireless ad hoc networks.
Broadcast is a efficient interactive method between a server and mobile clients via wireless channel and broadcast environments are incarnating as various applications. Most studies have been proposed in broadcast environments deal with read-only mobile transactions, many applications are emerging recently that need to manage the update transactions at mobile clients. So we propose a concurrency control for mobile transactions consisted mainly of update operations in broadcast environments. As an optimistic approach is applied for scheduling update transactions, repetitive aborts of update transactions are occur due to conflict between transactions. To solve this problem update transactions must have been executed with distributed manner, but unnecessary aborts are occur as well because of continuous restart. Thus, in this paper we propose a method that transactions are executed distributed manner and can avoid unnecessary aborts of update transactions. Proposed method has no unnecessary uplink and can save resources of mobile client.

Mobile IPTV lets mobile users transmit and receive multimedia traffic, such as TV signals, audio, text and graphics, through IP-based networks with the support of quality of service(QoS) and quality of experience(QoE), mobility and interactivity [1]. To provide service feasibility, QoS and seamless mobility to mobile users, we consider mobility prediction, link stability, service requirements to develop resource reservation scheme in mobile IPTV environments. Thus, we study for mobility prediction and QoS-guaranteed mobile IPTV service prior to develop the resource reservation scheme.

In mobile computing environments, data broadcasting is widely used to resolve the problem of limited power and bandwidth of mobile equipments. However, the previous broadcast scheduling methods can be inefficient in the environment where the user requests change dynamically since they are based on static data requests. Moreover, a high-priority user can wait long for infrequently requested data because they never consider the priority of listeners. In this paper, we propose a new broadcast scheduling method that reflects dynamic changes of user requests using user profiles. It also reflects user priorities to reduce the access time of high-priority users. We evaluate the performance of the proposed method through simulation.

Mobile devices are being widely used to access Internet contents. However, most available web pages are designed for desktop computers and consequently it is inconvenient to browse large web pages on mobile devices with small screen. Text identification is a process to extract texts from the body of a web page, which are then displayed in a comfortable way for reading. In this paper, we propose a text extraction scheme and discuss its implementation.

In data broadcast environments, data is disseminated from a small number of sewers to a much larger number of clients. The advancing technology of hardware and increasing needs of users' have extended a broadcast environments. A mobile environment use the data broadcasting. A user carrying a portable computer can submit the operations of a transaction. Some limitations such as the poor-resource, user mobility, and low bandwidth are difficult to apply traditional transaction management to the mobile environments. So, the new mechanisms are needed and one of the them is the correctness criteria of transactions. Serializability is the most used criteria, but serializability is not appropriate to the broadcast environment because unnecessary abort and additional message exchanges are occurred. Hence, in this paper, we will address the need of the new correctness criteria weaker than serializability and describe the adoption of the update consistency.
