An Efficient Interruption Handling for 3D Games based on Android Platform

  • Recently the unprecedented progress of Android platform and Google Play has brought more opportunities for individual mobile game developers. When playing an Android 3D game, users can accidentally hit HOME Key or BACK Key or receive an incoming message. Subsequently, another screen will appear on top and make the game application lose focus, or the operating system pause that game. These interruption events may also lead to the loss of game information or the game runs out of user control if that game cannot catch interruption events itself and resume at the exact time. As same as other mobile platforms, Android platform also provides Activity Lifecycle methods to help the game application control interruption problems. However, these methods are not adequate to solve all the interruption events. By implementing ANDCube game, we examine most of the possible interruption cases and propose some solutions to help Android game developers avoid some common interruption cases. Concurrently, we show the ways how a game application can catch all unavoidable interruption events and effectively resume from interruption to obtain a high quality game.

  • Recently, smart phones have been widely used in the world. Android phones especially provide existing mobile phone features as well as capability of running enterprise applications and web applications by using services. However, such a linkage has limitations to use Android phones as client devices, there is difficulties in providing services by utilizing characteristics of Android. To solve this problem, we need to invoke services by each other. Currently, the Android platform currently supports inter-process communication IPC. However, there is a limitation that Android services just can invoke remote calls. In this paper, we propose a framework to invoke Android services in java environments. For doing this, we propose methods to make services public and to invoke services in using remote calls and communication methods between java environments and Android.

  • This paper presents a technique for an Android mobile device to best utilize its surrounding external display device such as high-definition TV, in order to overcome the size and resolution limitation of the small LCD in the mobile device. Unlike current techniques that simply expand the LCD screen image to an external large display, our technique dynamically changes the resolution adapting to capability of the external display. And, the original screen become a remote controller.

  • Expand the market because the size of the huge funds administered by the conversion of over-the-air digital TV broadcasts in the current situation is likely to be reduced due to the influence of the media over-the-air broadcasts new paid media, digital cable TV and IPTV new mobile TV as a new growth engineis required. Broadcasting system to increase the supply and demand of the module from the ATSC-M/H DMB business existing in the domestic over-the-air broadcasters, has seen significant achievements in sleep technology with the introduction is expected. ATSC-M/H does not require a separate frequency allocation for mobile services does not interfere with the existing ATSC system simulcast, which can be performed on Android mobile handsets American-style mobile broadcast reception module to develop should. This paper is to design the software modules in the broadcasting module embedded systems that are applied on the Android platform, broadcasting from mobile handsets to see.

  • As mobile terminal environment gets matured, the use of Android platform based mobile terminals has been growing high. Recently, the number of attacks by malicious application is also increasing as Android platform is vulnerable to private information leakage in nature. Most of these malicious applications are easily distributed to general users through open market or internet and an attacker inserts malicious code into malicious app which could be harmful tool to steal private data and banking data such as SMS, contacts list, and public key certificate to a remote server. To cope with these security threats more actively, it is necessary to develop countermeasure system that enables to detect security vulnerability existing in mobile device and take an appropriate action to protect the system against malicious attacks. In this sense, this paper aggregates diverse system events from multiple mobile devices and also implements a system to detect attacks by malicious application.

  • As the growing popularity of smartphones, mobile web browsing has become one of the most important and popular applications in mobile devices. Furthermore, it is clear that the demand for PC-like full browser performance on mobile devices is increasing greatly. WebKit is an open source web browser engine adopted by Google Android. This paper proposed a technique of increasing the performance of WebKit by paralleling its libraries. This method was applied to JPEG library and the performance evaluation was conducted in PC environment. The results was used to estimate the performance prediction on multi-core mobile embedded architecture and to show the feasibility of the proposed method to estimate the performance gain on heterogeneous multi-core embedded architecture.

  • As the usage of mobile devices extremely increases, malicious mobile apps(applications) that target mobile users are also increasing. It is challenging to detect these malicious apps using traditional malware detection techniques due to intelligence of today's attack mechanisms. Deep learning (DL) is an alternative technique of traditional signature and rule-based anomaly detection techniques and thus have actively been used in numerous recent studies on malware detection. In order to develop DL-based defense mechanisms against intelligent malicious apps, feeding recent datasets into DL models is important. In this paper, we develop a DL-based model for detecting intelligent malicious apps using KU-CISC 2018-Android, the most up-to-date dataset consisting of benign and malicious Android apps. This dataset has hardly been addressed in other studies so far. We extract OPcode sequences from the Android apps and preprocess the OPcode sequences using an N-gram model. We then feed the preprocessed data into LSTM and apply the concept of Information Gain to improve performance of detecting malicious apps. Furthermore, we evaluate our model with numerous scenarios in order to verify the model's design and performance.

  • In this paper, we investigate the security issues of the Android platform which dominates the global market of smart mobile devices. The current permission model for Android security is not powerful and has two problems. One is the coarse-grained relationship between permissions and methods which require them. The other is that mobile users do not have rights to control the permissions of the application. To solve these problems, we propose MacDroid which can control the platform's resources for accessing installed applications. Users can control the application's behavior via MacDroid's policy. We have divided the permission set into method units. The results of the performance test using a pure Android platform show that our proposed scheme can improve security within a short time.

  • This paper presents a framework for context-aware smart phone applications based on Android. The mobile context-aware system is composed of a low level context collection module, a high level context generation module and a service provision module. Existing android system cannot provide an appropriate application framework to integrate these independent modules. In this paper, we provide an application framework which make each module a component, and provide appropriate services to each component. This framework hides the Android platform, so that the complexity for organical combination can be minimized and the application developers can make the mobile context-aware applications easily.
