Recycling of Ferro-manganese Furnace Dust Collected from Converter (페로망간 집진분(集塵粉)의 재활용(再活用)에 관한 연구(硏究))

  • In order to make high-purity ferro-manganese from $Mn_3O_4$ dust, the application of aluminothermy process to the reduction of $Mn_3O_4$ dust was investigated in previous work. The result showed the fact that can be obtained high purity ferro-manganese which have over about 93% of manganese content and lower impurities such as C, P, S than those of KS D3712 specification. The addition of silicon powder instead of aluminum powder was investigated as reductant in the thermite reaction process of $Mn_3O_4$ dust in this work because its production cost is lower than that of aluminum powder. In case of addition of silicon powder only as reductant, the experimental result showed the unstable ignition and no thermite reaction of mixture, but in case of simultaneous addition of silicon and aluminum powders as reductant, showed the fact that can be obtained high purity ferro-manganese which have much low content of impurities such as C, P, S component.

  • The higher order structure of Pseudomonas alcaligenes 5S rRNA has been investigated by using ($\eta^{6}$-mesitylene) manganese (Ⅰ) tricarbonyl hexafluorophosphate[MTH-Mn (Ⅰ)], dimethylpyrocarbonate, potassium permanganate as chemical probes. The sequences cleaved strongly by MTH-Mn (Ⅰ) on the tertiary structure of the 5S rRNA are $G_{12}AUGG_{16}$ of loop a, $G_{51}AAGUGAAGC_{60}$ of the region b-C, $U_{65}-AGCG_{69}$. of the region B-a, and $G_{72}AUGG_{76}$ of loop d. Based on such cleavage patterns of 5S rRNA by MTH-Mn(Ⅰ) and other chemical probes, we presume that the sequences strongly cleaved form pocket-like structure as in the the corner of L structure of $tRNA^{Phe}$. We also presume that the region b-C and loop d together play a role of hinge in forming the pocket-like structure in the 5S rRNA.

  • Yellow-emitting $Y_3Al_5O_{12}$:Ce nanocrystalline phosphor and orange-emitting CdS:Mn/ZnS core/shell quantum dots were prepared by a modified polyol and a reverse micelle chemistry, respectively. To compensate a poor color rendering index of YAG:Ce nanocrystalline phosphor due to the lack of red spectral component, CdS:Mn/ZnS quantum dots were blended into YAG:Ce. Based on spectral evolutions in the blended systems, hybrid white light emitting diodes are fabricated and characterized.

  • This pot experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of combined micronutrient application($T_1$;control, $T_2$; Fe, $T_3$; Fe+Mn, $T_4$: Fe+Mn+Cu, $T_5$ ; Fe+Mn+Cu+Zn, $T_6$ ; Fe+Mn+Cu+Zn+Mo, $T_7$ ;Fe+Mn+Cu+Zn+Mo+B) on forage performance of pure and mixed cultures of orchardgrass and white clover. This 4th part was related to the changes in the contents of micronutrients(Fe, Mn, Cu, Zn, Mo, and B) in forages. The results obtained are summarized as follows: 1. General differences have been showed in the contents of micronutrients based on the treatments, forage species, pure/mixed culture, cutting order, and additional fertilization, especially N. Compared to pure culture, orchardgrass showed relatively high contents of Mn and Zn, and low contents of B and Fe in mixed culture. White clover, however, tended to be exactly opposed to the above trends. The contents of Cu and Mo did not show any differences between pure and mixed cultures. 2. In relative comparison, the $T_7$ influenced negatively on the contents of Cu, Zn, and Mo in orchardgrass. The $T_7$ also influenced negatively on the contents of Mo in white clover. However, the $T_7$ influenced positively on the contents of Mn in orchardgrass, and also influenced positively on the contents of Fe, Mn, and Cu in white clover. Because of the antagonism between Fe and Mn, the Fe contents in both forages were significantly decreased by the $T_3$. Under the various conditions, the differences among Fe contents tended to be more significant in white clover than in orchardgrass. 3. At the $T_6$ and $T_7$, the Mo contents in both forages tended to be relatively high. The Mo contents, however, were somewhat decreased by the $T_7$ 7/. The Mo-toxicity, which was caused by the high Mo-contents, tended to be diminished, and was likely to be prevented by the optimum B/Mo ratio and B application($T_7$ ).

  • The electronic structure of Mn12-Ac molecular magnet has been investigated using synchrotron radiation. The valence-band photoemission spectroscopy (PES) measurement reveals that Mn 3d states are located near the top of the valence band. The trend in the measured valence-band PES spectra is found to be consistent with that in the calculated local density of states. The Mn 2p x-ray absorption spectroscopy (XAS) measurement provides evidence for the Mn$^{3+}$-Mn$^{4+}$ mixed-valent states.

  • This study was undertaken to investigate the characteristics and the productivities of lignin olytic enzymes: laccase (Lac) and Mn-dependent peroxidase (MnP) from Coriolus versicolor and Lentinus edodes respectively. Enzymes were isolated from cultural filterates and purified according to the standard methods. These enzymes showed one band in SDS-PAGE and their molecular weights were found 62,000 and 45,000 dalton respectively. Polyclonal antibodies against Lac and MnP were raised against mouse. In the ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay), Lac and MnP-antiserum produced a strong positive reaction with Lac and MnP antigen($A_{405}$=2.50 and 3.53 respectively). The sera to negative (S/N) ratio was determined by the dividing the mean absorbance of antibodies by the corresponding diluted samples from normal mouse serum. The sera produced showed 2 times more positive reaction in S/N ratio than negative sera.

A Separation of manganese (II) and cobalt (II) ions by D2EHPA/TBP-immobilized PolyHIPE membrane

  • The D2EHPA/TBP co-extractants immobilized PolyHIPE membrane can be used for the selective separation of Mn (II) from Co (II). By solvent-nonsolvent method, D2EHPA/TBP co-extractants can be effectively immobilized into PolyHIPE membrane. The pore structure of PolyHIPE membrane and the presence of TBP enhance the stability of immobilized co-extractants. The optimal operating conditions for the separation of Mn (II) and Co (II) are feeding phase at pH 5.5, sulfuric acid concentration in the stripping phase of about 50 g/L and stirring speed at 400 rpm. The D2EHPA/TBP co-extractants ratio of 5:1 shows synergetic effect on Mn/Co separation factor about 22.74. The removal rate and recovery rate of Mn (II) is about 98.4 and 97.1%, respectively, while for Co (II) the transport efficiency is insignificant. The kinetic study of Mn (II) transport shows that high initial flux, $J_f^o=80.1({\mu}mol/m^2s)$, and maxima stripping flux, $J_s^{max}=20.8({\mu}mol/m^2s)$, can be achieved with D2EHPA/TBP co-extractants immobilized PolyHIPE membrane. The stability and reusability study shows that the membrane can maintain a long term performance with high efficiency. High purity of Co (II) and Mn (II) can be recovered from the feeding phase and stripping phase, respectively.

  • anodic deposition법으로 제조된 $MnO_2$와 (Mn, Zn) 산화물의 전도도를 측정하였다. 제조된 Mn 산화물의 조성은 XRD와 EDS를 이용하여 $MnO_2$ 와 Mn 복합산화물로 확인되었다. DV-Xa법으로 계산된 이론 전자상태 계산 결과 천이금속을 첨가하게 되면, Mn 복합 산화물의 에너지 갭이 감소하는 것으로 나타났다. anodic deposition법으로 제조된 $MnO_2$와 Mn 복합 산화물의 전기전도도를 비교하면 천이금속이 첨가된 복합 산화물의 특성이 우수한 것으로 나타났다.

  • 현재, IETF AAA 워킹 그룹에서는 기존 AAA 프로토콜인 RADIUS를 보완 및 확장하여 새로운 프로토콜인 Diameter의 표준화를 진행중이다. Diameter는 기존 전화망에서의 PPP 접속 서비스뿐만 아니라 이동 패킷 서비스를 지원하는 Mobile IP 접속 서비스를 지원하도록 설계되고 있다. AAA 서버는 인증(Authentication), 인가(Authorization) 및 과금(Accounting) 서비스를 사용자에게 제공한다. 이때 Diameter 서버는 MN이 제공하는 credential을 검증함으로써, MN에 대한 인증을 수행한다. MN은 credential을 생성하기 위해서, 홈 Diameter 서버와 MN간에 공유하는 MN-AAA 비밀키와 MAC 알고리즘을 사용한다. 상기키는 이동 가입자가 AAA 서비스를 초기에 요청할 때 발급되는 비밀키이며, Diameter 프로토콜은 상기 비밀키의 재발급 메커니즘을 제공하지 않는다. 메커니즘 부재는 키의 누출의 인한 서비스 도용이 발생한 수 있는 취약점이 있다. 본 논문에서는 키의 누출에 대비한 MN-AAA 키의 재생성 및 재분배 메커니즘을 제안한다. 이를 위해서, Mobile IP 프로토콜 및 Diameter 프로토콜을 확장 및 보완한다.

  • Nanorod-clustered $MnO_2$ precursors with ${\alpha}$-, ${\beta}$-, and ${\gamma}$-phases are synthesized by hydrothermal reaction of $MnSO_45H_2O$ and $(NH_4)S_2O_8$. The formation of nanorod-clustered ${\beta}-MnO_2$ is particularly confirmed under the conditions of high reactant concentration and hydrothermal reaction at $150^{\circ}C$. The spinel $LiMn_2O_4$ nanorod-clusters are also prepared by lithiating the $MnO_2$ precursors, varying the concentration of lithiating agent ($LiC_3H_3O_2{\cdot}2H_2O$) and heat treatment temperature, and characterized for use as cathode material of lithium-ion batteries. As a result, the nanorod-clustered $LiMn_2O_4$ prepared from the ${\beta}-MnO_2$ at higher $LiC_3H_3O_2{\cdot}2H_2O$ concentration and the annealing at $800^{\circ}C$ is proven to show the cubic spinel structure and to achieve the high initial discharge capacity of 120 mAh/g.
