When an aircraft is landing, it is expected that the aircraft will follow a specified approach procedure and then land at the airport. However, depending on the airport situation, neighbouring aircraft or the instructions of the air traffic controller, there can be a deviation from the specified approach. Detecting aircraft approach patterns is necessary for traffic flow and flight safety, and this paper suggests clustering techniques to identify aircraft patterns in the approach segment. The Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM), one of the machine learning techniques, is used to cluster the trajectories of aircraft, and ADS-B data from aircraft landing at the Gimhae airport in 2019 are used. The aircraft trajectories are clustered on the plane, and a total of 86 approach trajectory patterns are extracted using the centroid value of each cluster. Considering the correlation between the approach procedure pattern and overshoots, the distribution of overshoots is calculated.

The background subtraction method is mainly used for the real-time extraction and tracking of moving objects from image sequences. In the outdoor environment, there are many changeable environment factors such as gradually changing illumination, swaying trees and suddenly moving objects , which are to be considered for an adaptive processing. Normally, GMM(Gaussian Mixture Model) is used to subtract the background by considering adaptively the various changes in the scenes, and the adaptive GMMs improving the real-time Performance were Proposed and worked. This paper, for on-line background subtraction, employed the improved adaptive GMM, which uses the small constant for learning rate a and is not able to speedily adapt the suddenly movement of objects, So, this paper Proposed and evaluated the dynamic control method of a using the adaptive selection of the number of component distributions and the global variances of pixel values.
This paper proposes the method to select the number of optimal mixtures in each state in Continuous Density HMM (Hidden Markov Models), Previously, researchers used the same number of mixture components in each state of HMM regardless spectral characteristic of speaker, To model each speaker as accurately as possible, we propose to use a different number of mixture components for each state, Selection of mixture components considered the probability value of mixture by each state that affects much parameter estimation of continuous density HMM, Also, we use PCA (principal component analysis) to reduce the correlation and obtain the system' stability when it is reduced the number of mixture components, We experiment it when the proposed method used average 10% small mixture components than the conventional HMM, When experiment result is only applied selection of mixture components, the proposed method could get the similar performance, When we used principal component analysis, the feature vector of the 16 order could get the performance decrease of average 0,35% and the 25 order performance improvement of average 0.65%.
In this paper, we proposed the principal component analysis (PCA) fuzzy mixture model for speaker identification. A PCA fuzzy mixture model is derived from the combination of the PCA and the fuzzy version of mixture model with diagonal covariance matrices. In this method, the feature vectors are first transformed by each speaker's PCA transformation matrix to reduce the correlation among the elements. Then, the fuzzy mixture model for speaker is obtained from these transformed feature vectors with reduced dimensions. The orthogonal Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM) can be derived as a special case of PCA fuzzy mixture model. In our experiments, with having the number of mixtures equal, the proposed method requires less training time and less storage as well as shows better speaker identification rate compared to the conventional GMM. Also, the proposed one shows equal or better identification performance than the orthogonal GMM does.
Biplot is a useful graphical method to simultaneously explore the rows and columns of a two-way data matrix. In particular, principal component factor biplot is a graphical method to describe the interrelationship among many variables in terms of a few underlying but unobservable random variables called factors. If we consider the unobservable variables (which are mutually independent and also non-Gaussian), we can apply the independent component analysis decomposing a mixture of non-Gaussian in its independent components. In this case, if we apply the principal component factor analysis, we cannot clearly describe the interrelationship among many variables. Therefore, in this study, we apply the independent component analysis of Jutten and Herault (1991) decomposing a mixture of non-Gaussian in its independent components. We suggest an independent component biplot to interpret the independent component analysis graphically.

Gait Recognition is a new technique to identify the people by the way they walk. Human gait is a spatio-temporal phenomenon that typifies the motion characteristics of an individual. The proposed method makes a simple but efficient attempt to gait recognition. For each video file, spatial silhouettes of a walker are extracted by an improved background subtraction procedure using Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM). Here GMM is used as a parametric probability density function represented as a weighted sum of Gaussian component densities. Then, the relevant features are extracted from the silhouette tracked from the given video file using the Principal Component Analysis (PCA) method. The Fisher Linear Discriminant Analysis (FLDA) classifier is used in the classification of dimensional reduced image derived by the PCA method for gait recognition. Although gait images can be easily acquired, the gait recognition is affected by clothes, shoes, carrying status and specific physical condition of an individual. To overcome this problem, it is combined with footprint as a multimodal biometric system. The minutiae is extracted from the footprint and then fused with silhouette image using the Discrete Stationary Wavelet Transform (DSWT). The experimental result shows that the efficiency of proposed fusion algorithm works well and attains better result while comparing with other fusion schemes.

In this paper, we proposed a method which corresponds people under the structured spaces with multiple cameras. The correspondence takes an important role for using multiple camera system. For solving this correspondence, the proposed method consists of three main steps. Firstly, moving objects are detected by background subtraction using a multiple background model. The temporal difference is simultaneously used to reduce a noise in the temporal change. When more than two people are detected, those detected regions are divided into each label to represent an individual person. Secondly, the detected region is segmented as features for correspondence by a criterion with the color distribution and context information of human body. The segmented region is represented as a set of blobs. Each blob is described as Gaussian probability distribution, i.e., a person model is generated from the blobs as a Gaussian Mixture Model (GMM). Finally, a GMM of each person from a camera is matched with the model of other people from different cameras by maximum likelihood. From those results, we identify a same person in different view. The experiment was performed according to three scenarios and verified the performance in qualitative and quantitative results.
Since computing the log-likelihood of Gaussian mixture density is a major computational burden for the speech recognizer based on the continuous HMM, several techniques have been proposed to reduce the number of mixtures to be used for recognition. In this paper, we propose a modified Bucket Box Intersection (BBI) algorithm, in which two relative thresholds are employed: one is the relative threshold in the conventional BBI algorithm and the other is used to reduce the number of the Gaussian boxes which are intersected by the hyperplanes at the boxes' edges. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm reduces the number of Gaussian mixtures by 12.92% during the recognition phase with negligible performance degradation compared to the conventional BBI algorithm.

A Gaussian sum filter (GSF) is proposed in this paper on simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM) for mobile robot navigation. In particular, the SLAM problem is tackled here for cases when only bearing measurements are available. Within the stochastic mapping framework using an extended Kalman filter (EKF), a Gaussian probability density function (pdf) is assumed to describe the range-and-bearing sensor noise. In the case of a bearing-only sensor, a sum of weighted Gaussians is used to represent the non-Gaussian robot-landmark range uncertainty, resulting in a bank of EKFs for estimation of the robot and landmark locations. In our approach, the Gaussian parameters are designed on the basis of minimizing the representation error. The computational complexity of the GSF is reduced by applying the sequential probability ratio test (SPRT) to remove under-performing EKFs. Extensive experimental results are included to demonstrate the effectiveness and efficiency of the proposed techniques.

In this paper, we present an algorithm for the detection of illegally parked vehicles based on a combination of some image processing algorithms. A digital camera is fixed in the illegal parking region to capture the video frames. An adaptive Gaussian mixture model (GMM) is used for background subtraction in a complex environment to identify the regions of moving objects in our test video. Stationary objects are detected by using the pixel-level features in time sequences. A stationary vehicle is detected by using the local features of the object, and thus, information about illegally parked vehicles is successfully obtained. An automatic alarm system can be utilized according to the different regulations of different illegal parking regions. The results of this study obtained using a test video sequence of a real-time traffic scene show that the proposed method is effective.
