This study describes to analyze foam mixing characteristics in steady state to enhance the performance of proportioner for foam system designed to accurately proportion a foam liquid concentrate into a water stream up to constant concentration. The proportioner developed is experimentally evaluated in performance evaluation system consisted of a pump, tanks, pressure gauges, flow meters, a nozzle. As a result, the foam mixing performance of the line proportioner is found to increase with increased the water flow rate due to the venturi effect and with increased the cross-sectional area of the orifice and is analysed with 3 % in the error rate of $\pm4%$. For the pressure proportioner, the foam mixing performance is analyzed to increase with increased the water flow rate and with increased the inlet pressure and is analysed with 3% in the error rate of $\pm2%$.
Transgenic rice cells using RAmy3D promoter can provide high productivity, and the production of recombinant protein is induced by sugar starvation. In this system, productivity was reduced during the scale-up processes. To ensure the influences of shear stress and oxygen transfer rate, working volume and mixing performances were investigated under various agitation speeds and working volumes. In addition, inoculation methods including suspended cells and filtered cells were compared. Working volumes and shaking speeds were 300, 450 mL and 80, 120 rpm, respectively. Hydrodynamic environment of each condition was measured numerically like mixing time and $k_La$. Good mixing performance and high shear stress were measured at high agitation speed and low volume. The highest level of hCTLA4Ig was 30.7 mg/L at 120 rpm, 300 mL. When conditioned medium was used for inoculation, increased cell growth was noticed during the day 0~4 and decreased slower than filtered cells. Compared with filtered cells, the maximum hCTLA4Ig level reached 37.8 mg/L at 120 rpm, 300 mL and lower protease activity level was observed. In conclusion mixing performance is critical factor for productivity and conditioned medium can have a positive effect on damaged cells caused by hydrodynamic shear stress.

The flow in a microchannel is usually characterized as a low Reynolds number (Re) so that good mixing is quite difficult to be achieved. In this regard, we developed a novel chaotic micromixer, named Serpentine Laminating Micromixer (SLM) in the present study, Part 1. In the SLM, the higher level of chaotic mixing can be achieved by combining two general chaotic mixing mechanisms: splitting/recombination and chaotic advection. The splitting and recombination (in other term, lamination) mechanism is obtained by the successive arrangement of 'F'-shape mixing units in two layers. The chaotic advection is induced by the overall three-dimensional serpentine path of the microchannel. Chaotic mixing performance of the SLM was fully characterized numerically. To compare the mixing performance, a T-type micromixer which has the same width, height and length of the SLM was also designed. The three-dimensional numerical mixing simulations show the superiority of the SLM over the T-type micromixer. From the cross-sectional simulation results of mixing patterns, the chaotic advection effect from the serpentine channel path design acts favorably to realize the ideal lamination of fluid flow as Re increases. Chaotic mixing mechanism, proposed in this study, could be easily integrated in Micro-Total-Analysis-System, Lab-on-a-Chip and so on.

In this paper, Part II, we realized the Serpentine Laminating Micromirer (SLM) which was proposed in the accompanying paper, Part I, by means of the injection molding process in mass production. In the SLM, the higher level of chaotic mixing can be achieved by combining two general chaotic mixing mechanisms of splitting/recombination and chaotic advection by the successive arrangement of 'F'-shape mixing units in two layers. Mold inserts for the injection molding process of the SLM were fabricated by SU-8 photolithography and nickel electroplating. The SLM was realized by injection molding of COC (cyclic olefin copolymer) with the fabricated mold inserts and thermal bonding of two injection molded COC substrates. To compare the mixing performance, a T-type micromixer was also fabricated. Mixing performances of micromixers were experimentally characterized in terms of an average mixing color intensity of a pH indicator, phenolphthalein. Experimental results show that the SLM has much better mixing performance than the I-type micromixer and chaotic mixing was successfully achieved from the SLM over the wide range of Reynolds number (Re). The chaotic micromixer, SLM proposed in this study, could be easily integrated in Micro-Total-Analysis- System , Lab-on-a-Chip and so on.

Both numerical analysis and experiment of cold and hot tests were performed to obtain basic design data for the swirl coaxial type Injector and to predict the combustion performance. Mass distribution, mixing distribution, mixing efficiency, characteristic velocity efficiency were measured by the cold tests and numerical analysis using the commercial thermo-hydraulic program. Test and analysis variables were recess, pressure drop, velocity ratio, mixing spray, mixture ratio. Hot tests were performed for the Uni-element injector to compare the performance with the cold test results, and, hot tests for Multi-element injector were performed to compare the performance with Uni-element injector. Designed thrust of the Uni-element injector liquid rocket was 35kgf at sea level and combustion chamber pressure, 20bar. Kerosene and Lox were used as a propellant.
The purpose of this study is to develop standard reference materials for safety control of construction materials considering the required performance of standard materials including flow performance incorporating particles. The flow characteristics of concrete are very complicated depending on mixing proportions of constituent materials, admixtures, amount of mixing, type of mixer, time of mixing, temperature and so forth. Uncertainties and multidimensional properties of concrete have been evaluated through various studies but there are few researches for the development of standard reference material. In this study, based on the rheological concept, the flow performance of construction materials was evaluated to understand the properties of standard reference materials and was finally obtained representing materials which simulate the standard reference materials.

This research is part of the research for unifying the mass concrete and utilizing the rate of super retarding agent. We analyzed the performance of super retarding agent 20℃ conditions. It was found that there was no deterioration in fluidity and air quality due to the change in the super retarding agent mixing rate. It was found that when super retarding agent was mixed up to 0.5 %, it was delayed for 22.3 hours at 20℃. Therefore in order to ensure the performance required at the site, the super retarding agent mixing rate must be determined by fully considering the situation at the site. In addition it will be analyzed that super retarding agent performance analysis at high temperature will be required in subsequent studies.

The adhesion performance of PCCs for crack repair of RC structures was greater in the case of using ultra high-early strength cement than in the case of using ordinary Portland cement, and the effect of mixing silica fume was higher in the case of ordinary Portland cement than that of ultra high-early strength cement. On the other hand, 130% of W/C was more fluid than 80% of W/C in the same P/C 80%, which increased the fillability and improved the strength, but the strength improvement effect was the greatest in adhesion in flexure. Through this study, the basic characteristics of the adhesion performance of PCCs were identified, and based on this, it is necessary to induce an optimal mixing design that can increase adhesion performance through various mixing designs.

Mixing performance between fuel and oxidizer is a significant parameter of combustion efficiency and stability in an air-turbo ramjet combustor. Two types of petal mixer were experimented to research the mixing performance. Mixing performance and fuel distribution images were obtained for petal mixers. Planar laser-induced fluorescence(PLIF) was used to obtain 2-D fuel distribution. The obtained images were processed in order to make use of the image information to a quantitative level. The results of analyzing the fluorescence images could be useful to find better mixing performance between mixers.

In this work, Scalar Passive code in Lattice Boltzmann Method is employed to simulate two-phase flow of low Reynolds number in a micro-channel. The mixing characteristics in a micro-channel is a function of Peclet number. The mixing length increases with the Peclet number. It is found that with the inclusion of static elements at the channel, rapid mixing of two liquids can be achieved, as shown by the results of computer simulations. The enhancement in mixing performance is thought to be caused by the generation of eddies and by lateral velocity component when the mixture flows past static elements. The results indicate that the size of static element has more effect on the mixing than the number of static element.
