  • Ceramic green sheets consisting Bi-based glass frit were fabricated for an application to PDP transparent dielectric front panel. The dispersion condition of the slurry for tape casting was pre-examined, and two kinds of hinder and plasticizer were used in the non-aqueous slurry system. In the fabrication process for the frit film, the properties such as dry and firing shrinkage, elongation, and transmittance were examined at the condition of various mixing ratio of plasticizers. In the mixing ratio of polyethylene glycol to dibutyl phthalate of 3:5wt%, a good adhesion, elongation and transmittance were observed at the firing temperature of $580^{\circ}C$. The photograph for the cross section of the interface was also showed a dense microstructure.

  • Despite of the excellent properties of carbon nanofiber, The properties of carbon nanofiber filled polymer composites were not increased largely. The reason is that it is still difficult to ensure the uniform dispersion of carbon nanofiber in a polymer matrix. In this study, For improvement properties of carbon nanofiber filled epoxy composites, the effect of dispersion was investigated. The compounds were prepared by two methods, solution blending and mechanical mixing. Mixing of solution blending method was used using ultrasonic. Dispersion of carbon nanofiber was observed by optical microscope and scanning electron microscope (SEM). UV adsorption and turbidity measured by UV spectrometer was used for the comparison of dispersion of carbon nanofiber.

  • Magnetite was prepared by wet method and oil-based magnetic fluid also was prepared by its magnetite. Ahead of making magnetite, we investigated the variation of physical properties for changing $Fe^{3+}/Fe^{2+}$. Through the variation of the process mixing time, pH, magnetite content, we made magnetic fluid of magnetite. We examined the magnetic and frequency property by a toroidal mold. In result $Fe^{3+}/Fe^{2+}=1.2$, over the minute mixing time property of magnetite, Ms was 61.98 emu/g. Moreover, the B-H loop result indicated that the magnetic fluid followed paramagnetic behavior.

  • Sulfur-cured gum natural rubber vulcanizates were devulcanized using two different concentrations of diallyl disulfide. The devulcanization process was performed at $110^{\circ}C$ min in an open two-roll cracker-cum-mixing mill. Natural rubber vulcanizates having various sulfur/accelerator ratios were used to study the cleavage of monosulfide, disulfide, and polysulfide bonds. The properties of devulcanized natural rubber increased upon increasing the disulfide concentration and the mechanical properties of the revulcanized natural rubber increased upon decreasing the sulfur content in the original rubber vulcanizates. The scorch time and the maximum state of cure both increased when the ground vulcanizates were treated with higher amounts of disulfide. TGA and DMA were conducted to study the effects of the devulcanization on the thermal stability and the $T_g$ behavior of the vulcanizates. SEM analysis was conducted to study how the failure mechanism was affected by the devulcanization process. It was possible to recover $70-80\%$ of the original gum rubber properties by using this process. From IR spectroscopic analysis, we observed that the oxidation of the main chains did not occur during high-temperature milling.

  • In this paper, the mix design of the super flowing concrete is described with respcet to basic concept, confined water ratio($\beta_p$), volume ratio of water-binder(w/b), volume ratio of fine aggregates($S_r$) and coarse aggregates($G_v$). The primary purposes of this study are to evaluate the effects of cementitious materials(fly ash, slag cement, portland cement), mixing factors ($\beta_p$, w/b, $S_r$, $G_v$)., and to propose the mix design method of the super flowing concrete. As results of this study, confined water ratio($\beta_p$) of cementitious materials is very high (0.99~1.1), and then the ranges of the optimum mixing factors to be satisfied with the super flowing concrete are $S_r$ 47$\ell$ 2%, $G_v$ 52$\ell$ 1%.

  • It was studied that the effect of the mixing materials and the mole ratios on electrochemical properties of LiMn$_2$O$_4$LiMn$_2$O$_4$is prepared by reacting stoichiometric mixture of LiOH.$H_2O$ and MnO$_2$(EMD or CMD) and heating at 80$0^{\circ}C$ for 36h. We obtained properties of crystal structure through X-ray diffraction. LiMn$_2$O was reversible at 4.5V~3.0V and displayed two reduction and oxidation. Optimum synthesis results were obtained by reacting with LiOH.$H_2O$ and MnO$_2$(EMD) at mole ratio 1:2.

  • As global warming becomes serious, research is continuously being conducted to reduce CO2 emissions. Among building materials, the carbon emission of cement is so high that it accounts for 6.8% of the carbon emission of the entire industry. Studies replacement of cement with blast furnace slag and fly ash are steadily increasing. In addition, efforts are being made to reduce air pollution due to increased damage caused by increased concentrations of harmful substances such as fine dust and heavy metals in the air. There is an increasing number of studies that enable adsorption by mixing adsorbents into building materials. This study reviewed the strength properties to make an adsorbable non-cement finishing material by mixing tourmaline, an adsorbent, based on the non-cement composite, and confirmed that the strength decreases as the replacement ratio increases.

  • Epoxy/S2-glass reinforced composites (SGRPs) infused with Cloisite 30B nanoclays were manufactured using the vacuum assisted resin infusion molding (VARIM) process. Prior to infusion, the matrix and clays were thoroughly mixed using a direct mixing technique (DMT) and a high shear mixing technique (HSMT) to ensure uniform dispersion of the nanoclays. Structures with varying clay contents (1-3 wt%) were manufactured. Both pristine and SGRP nanocomposites were then subjected to mechanical testing. For the specimens manufactured by DMT, the tensile, flexural, and compressive modulus increased with increasing the clay content. Similarly, the tensile, flexural, compressive, interlaminate shear and impact strength increased with the addition of 1 wt% clay: however the trend reversed with further increase in the clay content. Specimens manufactured by HSMT showed superior properties compared to those of nanocomposites containing 1 wt% clay produced by DMT. In order to understand these phenomena a morphological study was conducted. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) micrographs revealed that HSMT led to better dispersion and changed the nanoclay structure from orderly intercalation to disorderly intercalation giving multi-directional strength.

  • Calcium phosphate powders were successfully synthesized by using re-cycled eggshell and phosphoric acid. The crystallization behavior and powder morphologies of the synthesized powders were dependent on the starting condition of the eggshell, the mixing ratio and method of the eggshell and phosphoric acid, and calcination temperature. In general, $\beta$-tricalcium phosphate was stably synthesized at about $900^{\circ}C$ for 1h at each proper mixing ratio. And, the synthesized powders showed the similar microstructures to the morphology of original eggshell with uniform particle sizes. In this study, the calcium phosphate powders were synthesized with eggshell in various processing method. And their unique microstructures obtained from the eggshell were also. observed. The crystalline developments and microstructures of the synthesized powders were examined by X-ray diffractometer and scanning electron microscopy.

  • We studied the optoelectronic properties of hybrid solar cells formed by mixing cadmium sulfide [CdS] nanorods with a conjugated polymer, poly-2-methoxy, 5-[2'-ethy[hexyloxy]-1,4-p-phenylenevinylene[MEH-PPV]. CdS nanorods were grown vertically on Ti substrates by electrochemical deposition through a porous alumina template. Absorption spectrum of the composite layer was the same as the superposition of the absorption spectrum of each individual layer. The photoluminescence signal from MEH-PPV film was reduced as a result of the mixing. The energy conversion efficiency of MEH-PPV improved from $0.0012\%$ to about $0.60\%$ when combined with the vertically aligned CdS nanorods.
