  • A compression ignition type of diesel engine makes fuel efficiency better and $CO_2$ in the exhaust gas lower. Also it is suitable to apply alternative fuels(blended fuel) to the engine. The objective of this study is the emissions reduction of diesel engine with EF(Emulsified fuel). The emulsified fuel consists of diesel and peroxide($H_2O_2$) and Soot reduction without worsening of NOx emissions can be achieved by using thermal decomposition of the peroxide, i.e. the chemical effect of the OH radical in actual engine. For manufacturing emulsified fuel, a surfactant which is comprised of span 80 and tween 80 mixed as 9:1, was mixed with a fixed with 3% of the total volume in the emulsion fuel. In addition, considering the mixing ratio of the surfactant, the mixing ratio of $H_2O_2$ in the emulsified fuel was set as EF0, EF2, EF12, EF22, EF32, and EF42, respectively. Consequently, this study aims to obtain the optimization of fuel design(mixing) for the emulsified fuel applying to the diesel engine.

  • The train system in a big city has the serious problem of the shortage of transport capacity. And because of the nowaday energy crisis, the research to reduce the energy consumption in the train system has been progressed. In this paper, it is expected that the train operation mixing slow trains and fast trains enable us to increase transport capacity and to reduce energy consumption. In this paper, the train operation mixing slew trains and fast trains is modelled and the change of energy consumption and transport capacity depending upon the operation formation is simulated.

  • This paper provides an assessment of fluid transport and mixing processes inside the primary circuit of the test facility ROCOM through the numerical simulation of Test 2.1 with the system code ATHLET. The experiment represents an asymmetric injection of cold and non-borated water into the reactor coolant system (RCS) of a pressurized water reactor (PWR) to restore core cooling, an emergency procedure which may subsequently trigger a core re-criticality. The injection takes place at low velocity under single-phase subcooled conditions and presents a major challenge for the simulation in lumped parameter codes, due to multidimensional effects in horizontal piping and vessel arising from density gradients and gravity forces. Aiming at further validating ATHLET 3-D capabilities against horizontal geometries, the experiment conditions are applied to a ROCOM model, which includes a newly developed horizontal pipe object to enhance code prediction inside coolant loops. The obtained results show code strong simulation capabilities to represent multidimensional flows. Enhanced prediction is observed at the vessel inlet compared to traditional 1-D approach, whereas mixing overprediction from the descending denser plume is observed at the upper-half downcomer region, which leads to eventual deviations at the core inlet.

  • the Cu/polyimide system is known to be the best candidate for a multilevel interconnection system due to the low resistance of Cu and to the low dielectric constant of polyimide respectively. Ion beam mixing of Cu(40nm)/polyimide was carried out at room temperature with 80 keV Ar+ and N2+ form $1.5\times$1015 to 15$\times$1015 ions/cm2. The quantitative adhesion strength was measured by a standard scratch test. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy and x-ray emission spectrocopy are employed to investigate the chemical bonds and the interlayer compound formation of the films Cu/Al/polyimide showed more adhesion strength than Cu/polyimide after ion beam mixing and N2+ ions are more effective in the adhesion enhancement than Ar+ with the same sample geometry. The XES results shows the formation of interlayer compound of CuAl2O4 which can reflect more adhesive Cu/Al/polyimide which has not been reported previously. The latter results is understood by the fact that N2+ ions produce more pyridinelike moiety, amide group and tertiary amine moiety whcih are known as adhesion promotors.

  • This work provides an alternative derivation of third order response functions in four wave mixing spectroscopy of multichromophoric macromolecular systems considering only single exciton states. For the case of harmonic oscillator bath linearly and diagonally coupled to exciton states, closed form expressions showing all the explicit time dependences are derived. These expressions can provide more solid physical basis for understanding 2-dimensional electronic spectroscopy signals. For more general cases of system-bath coupling, the quantum master equation (QME) approach is employed for the derivation of multistep time evolution equations for Green function-like operators. Solution of these equations is feasible at the level of 2nd order non-Markovian QME, and the new approach can account for inter-exciton coupling, dephasing, relaxation, and non-Markovian effects in a consistent manner.

  • This study was peformed to control the thermal crack of the mat footing slab in the multi-purposed buildings. In this study, we executed the mixing design of concrete to satisfy the workability and the quality according to the site conditions. And, we evaluated quantitatively about the possibility of thermal crack by using hydration heat analysis system. Finally, we proposed the optimal mixing conditions, curing methods and curing period which all factors are considered. As a results, the optimal mixing conditions were : W/B 41%, unit binder 375kg/$cm^{2}$, FA replacement ratio 20%. Lowest thermal stress was 22.0kgf/$cm^{2}$ and at that time thermal crack index was over 1.5, when the coefficient of thermal conductivity was lowest among the curing conditions. And, the total curing time was estimated at 6.7 days according to curing steps.

  • This paper describes the measurement of tissue blood flow by the the self-mixing effect of laser diode. A Laser doppler signals due to the moving object and the tissue blood flow were detected by the self-mixing effect of laser diode. The Doppler shifted frequency was changed linearly with the driving frequency of moving object and was increase after the exercise. The results of in-vivo experiment were consistent with the result of exercise physiology.

  • Dissolution rate of practically insoluble mefenamic acid was improved by roll mixing with sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS) or polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP). The dissolution rate of the drug roll mixtures with SLS was superior to that of roll mixtures with PVP. The maximal dissolution rate was found in the roll mixtures system with SLS content of 60%. The dissolution rate of mefenamic acid roll mixtures with SLS content of 60% reached to the maximum value after 10 min of roll mixing. The transport of roll mixtures with SLS across rat jejunum was studied by the perfusion method using everted rat jejunum in vitro. The absorption rate of roll mixtures was superior to that of mefanamic acid.

  • Wall flush mounted injector with various orifice shape and injection conditions, were examined to enhance jet penetration and mixing in supersonic cross flow, in view of application to air-breathing accelerator vehicle. Orifice shapes with high aspect ratio were found to preferable for better penetration in the cold flow, and in the reacting flow for scramjet-mode combustion conditions. However, the effectiveness of the high aspect ratio was diminished in the dual-mode combustion conditions. Supersonic injection was applied to the high aspect ratio orifice, and further increase in penetration was observed in the cold and reactive flow for scramjet-mode combustion conditions, however, mixing enhancement due to mixing layer / pseudo-shock wave system interaction was dominant in the dual-mode combustion conditions. Difficulty in attaining ignition in the case with the high aspect ratio orifice was encountered during the combustion tests.
