The rheological properties and food functionality of the novel sugar derivatives, fructo-oligosaccharide, high maltose syrup(HMS), maltitol and sorbitol were examined and compared to those of sucrose. All samples tested showed Newtonian fluid property at the concentration range of 10% to the original concentrated products containing $69{\sim}81%w/w$ solid. HMS showed the highest viscosity. The viscosity increased(r=0.8038) as the average molecular weight of sugar derivatives were increased. The viscosity increased exponentially as the concentration increased, and sugar alcohols had lower value of the exponent compared to HMS and fructo-oligosaccharide. The viscosity of sugar derivatives solutions decreased by the increasing temperature following the Arrhenius equation. The flow activation energies of sorbitol and HMS were higer than that of sucrose. Substitution of sucrose with fructo-oligosaccharide in apple jam processing did not change the textural characteristics, but in redbean jelly(yanggaeng) it reduced the hardness, adhesiveness, springiness and cohesiveness. When sucrose was 100% replaced by HMS, the texture of apple jam and redbean jelly was not changed, but by mixing sucrose and HMS 1 : 1 ratio, the hardness decreased substantially The sugar alcohols reduced the hardness, adhesiveness, springiness of apple jam and redbean jelly significantly. Addition of fructo-oligosaccharide and HMS to sucrose did not influence the solidifying rate of candy, but sorbitol, even at 10% addition, retarded the candy moulding.
In this paper, the interface stability not to occur mixing and entrainment between the adjacent layers has been studied in the case of the selective withdrawal of a stratum and the injection in stratified fluid formed by the density difference in a small solar pond. There are stability parameter, Richardson number, Rayleigh number and Froude number as the parameters governing stability in order to measure the interface stability on the stratified fluid. The model which could measure the interface stability on the stratified fluid was the small solar pond composed by 1 meters wide, 2 meters high, and 5 meters long. In order to measure the interface stability on the stratified fluid at the inlet port, the middle section and the outlet port, Richardson number, Rayleigh number, and Froude number involved in the parameters governing the stability were calculated by means of the data resulted from the test of the study on hydrodynamic stability between the convective and nonconvective layers in that solar pond. Richardson number written by the ratio of inertia force to buoyancy force can be used in order to measure the stability on the stratified fluid related to the buoyancy force generated from the injection of fluid. Rayleigh number written by the product of Grashof number by Prandtl number can be used in order to measure the stability of the fluid related to the heat flux and diffusivity of viscosity. Froude number written by the ratio of gravity force to inertia force can be used in order to measure the stability of the nonhomogeneous fluid related to the density difference. As the result of calculating the parameters governing stability, the interface stability on the stratified fluid couldn't be identified below the 70cm height from the bottom of the solar pond, but it could be identified above the 70cm height from it at the inlet port, the middle section and the outlet port. When compared with such the three parameters as Richardson number, Rayleigh number, Froude number, the calculated result was in accord with them at inlet port, the middle section and the outlet port. Henceforth, it is learned that even though any of the three parameters is used for the purpose of measuring the interface stability on the stratified fluid, the result will be the same with them. It is concluded that all the use of Richardson number, Rayleigh number, and Froude number, is desirable and infallible to measure the interface stability on the stratified fluid in the case of considering the exist of the fluid flow and the heat flux like the model of the solar pond.

This study investigated the effect of surface water on concrete substrate on adhesive strength in tension of very high flowable SBR-modified cement mortar. The specimens were prepared with proportionally mixing SBR latex, ordinary portland cement, silica sand, superplasticizer and viscosity enhancing agent. Polymer cement ratio (P/C) were 10, 20, 30, 50 and 75% and the weight ratio of fine aggregate to cement were 1:1 and 1:3. The specimens obtained with different P/C and C:F were characterized by unit weight, flow test, crack resistance and adhesion test. After basic tests, two mixtures of P/C=20% and 30% in case of C:F=1:1, and one mixture of P/C=50% in case of C:F=1:3 were selected, respectively. These three selected specimens were studied about the effect of surface water evenly sprayed on concrete substrate by a amount of 0, 0.006, 0.012, 0.017, 0.024g per unit area ($cm^2$) of concrete substrate surface The results show that surface water on concrete substrate increases the adhesive strength in tension of high flowable SBR-modified cement mortar and improve the flowability compared to the non-sprayed case.
This paper represents the statistical characteristics of sources and receptors for road traffic noise in apartment complex. Also we suggested that the site-specific characteristics of vertical and horizontal distributions in the complex apartment have been derived using a different analysis for evaluating levels of Leq1h by the apartment floor at a given distance from a road in terms of the flow rate, the mean speed of the traffic, and the percentage of the type vehicles in the day and night periods. As a result, the contribution orders of traffic quantity by the type of vehicles showed as followed: light vehicle>medium vehicle>heavy vehicle>motorcycle. Especially, the mixing ratio of entering the road on the heavy vehicle in the daytime was two times higher than that of in the night. The speed in all types of vehicle is in the range of 41 and 81 km/hr and noise level was not significantly different in day and night-time. The sources of road traffic noise had different variations and uncertainties using a random variable and probability distribution. The sound distribution to receptors by the apartment floor showed S curve between 1st floor and $15^{th}$ floor With the normality test, the normal distributions using Anderson-Darling Test followed $1^{st},\;3^{th},\;13^{th}$ and $15^{th}$, floor in the daytime and all floors except $7^{th}$ floor in the night (p>0.05). And also, the value of the pearson correlation coefficient (r) obtained in this study have significantly different at the range of floor. In conclusion, the results suggested that the distribution characteristics of levels of $Leq_{1h}$ on the sources and receptors of road traffic noise in apartment complex must be improved and developed on the guideline of regulation of road traffic noise.

The aim of research is inducing the optimum proportion of fly ash(FA) and blast furnace slag(BS) for ternary cement. In this research, hence, the fundamental properties of mortar mixtures were evaluated depending on various proportion of FA and BS. The results of the experiment, within the scope of the study, obtained the following conclusions. Flow of the mixtures was increased with addition of binary supplementary cementitious material(SCM), and especially, portion of FA. The air content of the mixtures was increased with addition of binary SCMs, while it was decreased with increased FA content. In the case of unit mass, increased value was obtained due to the increased air content within 25 to 45% of binary SCM content, while it was increased within 65 to 100% of binary SCM up to only 20% of FA content and decreased more than 20% of FA because of the low density of FA. The setting time of the mixtures was delayed with addition of binary SCM and FA. In the case of compressive strength, at 91-day age, the highest value was obtained with 25 and 45% of binary SCM with the proportion of FA to BS of 40 to 60. Therefore, based on the compressive strength, it is considered that the binary SCM content of 25 and 45% with the proportion of FA to BS of 2 : 3 is the most favorable conditions in this research scope.

This study was achieved experiment to evaluate effect on fluidity and strength development ratio by slag replacement ratio to $40{\sim}100MPa$ HSC(High Strength Concrete) containing blast furnace slag(GGBS) and fly-ash(FA). Also it was suggested that most suitable replacement ratio of GGBS is effect by strength. The mix plan of concrete used in an experiment was used to the GGBS replacement ratio of 0, 12, 25% as the cement materials, and fly ash was used equally by replacement ratio 15%. According to test results, for use GGBS with fly ash as binder, slump of GGBS replacement ratio 25% is the most superior in 40MPa series, and appeared by thing which slump flow of GGBS 12% is the most superior in 60, 80MPa's series. The other side, was expressed that fluidity is excellent by FA replacement ratio 15% in 100MPa series. In the case of compressive strength 40MPa, it was exposed that the strength revelation is effect in until the GGBS principal parts ratio increases by replacement ratio 25%. Also, it was exposed that GGBS mixing ratio more than replacement ratio 25% is not since fitness in high strength concrete more than 100MPa.
We measured shear viscosity of polystyrene (PS) and poly(butyl methacrylate) (PBMA) particles, with a capillary rheometer, prepared by suspension polymerization with 1.0 wt% hydrophobic silica as a stabilizer by varying the initiator concentration at $75^{\circ}C$. PS particles with weight average molecular weight of 66,500 g/mol displayed a Newtonian behaior at low shear rates at $190^{\circ}C$. With increasing molecular weight, PS particles showed shear thinning over the entire range of shear rates. For PBMA particles, steady shear measurement was carried out at $170^{\circ}C$. PBMA particles with weight average molecular weight of 156,700 g/mol showed a Newtonian behaior only at low shear rates. PBMA particles also showed shear thinning with an increase in molecular weight and its pattern similar to that of PS. When carbon black was incorporated into PS and PBMA polymers, steady shear measurement was conducted at $170^{\circ}C$. An increase in carbon black concentration in PS and PBMA composite particles exhibited a progressive increase in shear viscosity. The increase in shear viscosity, however, was less pronounced compared to an increase as a function of molecular weight. Preparing PS composites containing carbon black by internal mixing resulted in an increase in shear viscosity. Its increase, however, was found to be less than that shown in PS composite particles. We speculate that this is caused by an enhanced dispersion of carbon black particles with an internal mixer. Yield behavior was not observed in any of the samples we selected in this experiment.

Experiments were divided into two parts; one part is to understand the basic properties of high flowable VA/VeoVa-modified cement mortar with different polymer cement ratio (P/C) and the weight ratio of fine aggregate to cement (C:F) and the other part is to investigate the effect of surface water spread on the concrete substrate on adhesion in tension. To understand the basic performance, the specimens were prepared with proportionally mixing VA/VeoVa redispersible powder, ordinary portland cement, silica sand, superplasticizer and viscosity enhancing agent. Here, P/C were 10, 20, 30, 50 and 75% and C:F were 1:1 and 1:3. As the change of P/C and C:F unit weight, flow test, crack resistance and adhesion in tension were measured. Three specimens with good adhesion properties were selected among specimens with different P/C and C:F. The effect of surface water evenly sprayed on concrete substrate on adhesive strength is investigated. The results show that surface water on concrete substrate increases the adhesion in tension of high flowable VA/VeoVa-modified cement mortar and additionally improves the flowability compared to the non-sprayed case.

The results of analyzing the hydrographic observations in the southwestern sea of Jeju Island in the last 10 days of August 1999 to investigate the characteristics of oceanic front area appeared in the East China Sea in August from is summarized as follows: In Line A, a front appears at Station A5 of 124°E and 31°30'N, showing relatively uniform density of 21.4 to 22.1 in the surface layer of 50m depth, which is distinguished from 22.0 shown in the sides of China and open ocean. In Line B, a front also appears at Station B6 of 124°E and 33°N, of which density is distinguished from 20.0 shown in the sides of China and open ocean as In Line A. As a result, the front area caused by fresh water runoffs from the Yangtze River in the East China Sea is formed at 124°E and 124°30'in the direction of east and northeast from Yangtze River, respectively. Nutrient concentrations in the study area are characterized by higher density in the side of China and by clear density difference between the upper and the lower layers in the side of open ocean, while by uniformly lower density concentration between the upper and the lower layers in the front area. Chlorophyll-α concentrations is high in the sides of China and open ocean, while low in the front area. Judging from the above results, the productivity in the front area is lower according to the inactivity of phytoplankton due to increased flow from vertical mixing between the upper layer and the lower layer. Also, the front area in the East China Sea in summer may be moved towards the adjacent sea of Jeju Island by increasing fresh water runoffs from the Yangtze River in summer.
The time-series resident solute concentrations, monitored at two field plots using the automated 144-channel TDR system by Kim (this issue), are used to investigate the dominant transport mechanism at field scale. Two models, based on contradictory assumptions for describing the solute transport in the vadose zone, are fitted to the measured mean breakthrough curves (BTCs): the deterministic one-dimensional convection-dispersion model (CDE) and the stochastic-convective lognormal transfer function model (CLT). In addition, moment analysis has been performed using the probability density functions (pdfs) of the travel time of resident concentration. Results of moment analysis have shown that the first and second time moments of resident pdf are larger than those of flux pdf. Based on the time moments, expressed in function of model parameters, variance and dispersion of resident solute travel times are derived. The relationship between variance or dispersion of solute travel time and depth has been found to be identical for both the time-series flux and resident concentrations. Based on these relationships, the two models have been tested. However, due to the significant variations of transport properties across depth, the test has led to unreliable results. Consequently, the model performance has been evaluated based on predictability of the time-series resident BTCs at other depths after calibration at the first depth. The evaluation of model predictability has resulted in a clear conclusion that for both experimental sites the CLT model gives more accurate prediction than the CDE model. This suggests that solute transport at natural field soils is more likely governed by a stream tube model concept with correlated flow than a complete mixing model. Poor prediction of CDE model is attributed to the underestimation of solute spreading and thus resulting in an overprediction of peak concentration.
