  • A robust monitor AGC(Automatic Gauge Control) system for a hot strip mill plant of POSCO Is designed by minimizing the H.inf. norm of a so called mixed sensitivity function. In order to solve the mininizatlon problem, a polynomial approach proposed by Kwakernaak[5] is used. The controller performance is tested by a computer simulation under various circumstances.

  • In this paper, a combination problem of controllers which are the same type of $H_{\infty}$ controllers designed with different weighting functions. This approach can remove the difficulty in the selection of the weighting functions. As a sub-controller, the Youla type of $H_{\infty}$ controller is used. In the $H_{\infty}$ controller, Youla parameterization is used to minimize $H_{\infty}$ norm of mixed sensitivity function by using polynomial approach. Computer simulation results show the robustness improvement and the performance improvement.

  • In this paper a new indirect robust self-tuning regulator is proposed including an inverse system of a plant and a robust compensator such that it achieves the desired frequency shape specified by solving the mixed H$\infty$ sensitivity problem within a prescribed tolerance in the H$\infty$ norm. Consequently, in the proposed self-tuning regulator, robust stability is guaranteed in spite of the identification error.

  • A remarshalling is one of the operational strategies considered importantly at a port container terminal for the fast ship operations and heighten efficiency of slacking yard. The remarshalling rearranges the containers scattered at a yard block in order to reduce the transfer time and the rehandling time of container handling equipments. This Paper deals with the rearrangement problem, which decides to where containers are transported considering time value of each operations. We propose the mixed integer programming model minimizing the weighted total operation cost. This model is a NP-hard problem. Therefore we develope the heuristic algorithm for rearrangement problem to real world adaption. We compare the heuristic algorithm with the optimum model in terms of the computation times and total cost. For the sensitivity analysis of configuration of storage and cost weight, a variety of scenarios are experimented.

  • The robust compensation controller, which has been proposed by one of the authors and is based on the fundamental principle of making the plant follow the reference model, consists of the reference model and the robust compensator. The reference model is constructed by using the nominal model of the plant and determines the input-output properties of the resultant system. The robust compensator is obtained as a solution of the mixed sensitivity problem in H infinity control theory. Therefore the resultant system is of low sensitivity and robust stability. In the case where uncertainty does not occur in the plant, the plant follows perfectly the reference model. Therefore, in the case where uncertainty occurs in the plant, we propose the system configuration which improves the following accuracy without replacing the 개bust compensator but by identifying, the plant and reconstructing the reference model.

  • In this paper, a robust levitation controller for an attractive MAGLVE system is designed. The design of an H$\infty$ controller based on LMI method is proposed for the control of a simple magnetic levitation system. Attractive MAGLEV system is highly nonlinear and open-loop unstable, and has a very restricted equilibrium region, Also, this system has to tolerate various disturbances caused by propulsion.   • This paper presents a vibration-rejection control design for a magnetic suspension system which has strong non-linearity, open-loop unstable characteristics, high-order flexible modes, and parameter variations. The target plant to be controlled consists of a U-core electromagnet and a flexible rail. We describe the test rig and formulate the mathematical model and then we set up a control problem as the mixed sensitivity problem where the augmented plant is constructed with frequency weighting functions and the feedback controller is designed by using the H$\infty$ controller. The effectiveness of the designed controller for the magnetic suspension system with high-order flexible modes is validated and justified using several simulations. Improvement of Long-term Stability in $SnO_2$ Based Gas Sensor for Monitoring Offensive Odor

  • WO$_3$/SnO$_2$ceramics has been suggested as an effective sensing material for monitoring offensive odor or pollutant gases. This work was focussed on improving long-term stability, which has been a principal problem generally taking place in SnO$_2$semiconductor gas sensor. Miniaturized thick film gas sensors were fabricated by screen printing technique. Two types of sensor materials, W doped SnO$_2$and WO$_3$mixed SnO$_2$, were comparatively investigated on those long-term stability and sensitivites to several gases. Small amount of W doping(0.1 mol%) into SnO$_2$largely improved the long-term stability. The W(0.1 mol%) doped SnO$_2$gas sensor had higher sensitivities to both acetone and alcohol compared with WO$_3$(5 wt%) mixed SnO$_2$gas sensor. On the contrary, WO$_3$(5 wt%) mixed SnO$_2$gas sensor showed more superior sensitivity to cigarette smoke due to larger W content.

욕창 감염의 세균 역학과 항생제 감수성 (Bacteriology and Antibiotics Sensitivity for Pressure Sore)

  • Purpose: Pressure sore wound develops inevitably in long-term, immobilized and hospitalized patients. Sore wound infection is common problem and makes healing process difficult. We aimed to identify the pathogens of the purulent discharge in sore wound and to obtain information for appropriate antibiotics through a sensitivity test Methods: The bacteriologic study was made on 120 cases of patients who admitted or visited our hospital from 2004 January to 2005 December for sore wound treatment. Culture material was collected in BBL transport media with cotton swab and cultured by MacConkey agar plate. The method of MIC by VITEK and Microscan was used for sensitivity test. Results: Among 120 specimens, organisms were isolated from 77(64.2%) cases. Gram positive organisms were cultured in 73 specimens, Gram negative organisms in 46 specemens, and fungi in 2 specimens. Mixed infection by Gram (+) and Gram (-) bacteria were observed in 34 specimens. Among them, S. aureus was the most common isolate in 24(31.2%) patients and 10 (13.0%) S. Aureus isolates were MRSA. The most prevalent Gram-negative organism was Escherichia coli in 20 patients(25.9%). Vancomycin and teicoplanin showed highest sensitivity to Gram-positive organisms and imipenem and amikacin to Gram-negative organisms. Conclusion: Pressure sore wound demands consideration of multimodal therapeutic aspects and these findings would be useful informations to physicians, nurses and clinical assistants in understanding the nature of sore wound and selecting appropriate antibiotics.

2단계 VMI 공급사슬에서 통합 재고/차량경로 문제를 위한 유전알고리듬 해법 (A Genetic Algorithm for Integrated Inventory and Routing Problems in Two-echelon VMI Supply Chains)

  • Manufacturers, or vendors, and their customers continue to adopt vendor-managed inventory(VMI) program to improve supply chain performance through collaboration achieved by consolidating replenishment responsibility upstream with vendors. In this paper, we construct a mixed integer linear programming model and propose a genetic algorithm for the integrated inventory and routing problems with lost sales maximizing the total profit in the VMI supply chains which comprise of a single manufacturer and multi-retailer. The proposed GA is compared with the mathematical model on the various sized test problems with respect to the solution quality and computation time. As a result, the GA demonstrates the capability of reaching solutions that are very close to those obtained by the mathematical model for small problems and stay within 3.2% from those obtained by the mathematical model for larger problems, with a much shorter computation time. Finally, we investigate the effects of the cost and operation variables on the total profit of the problem as well as the GA performance through the sensitivity analyses.
