  • This experiment was undertaken to investigate the spray characteristics of the conventional injection system and the ultrasonic energy added injection system. Test fuels include light oil and mixed light-BC oil. The mixed light-BC oil was injected at the normal temperature$(20^{\circ}C)$ and the high temperature$(95{\pm}2^{\circ}C)$ and injection pressure was $120kg/cm^2$. Sauter mean diameter was measured under the variation of the spray distance. To measure the droplet size, we used the Malvern system 2600C. Droplet size distribution was analyzed from the result data of Malvern system. It is also found that the condition of the ultrasonic energy added injection and high temperature injection generates the smaller droplets than that of the conventional injection.

  • We investigate the effect of a light emitting layer (EML) sequence and an interlayer on the performance of the phosphorescent-fluorescent mixed white organic light emitting diodes. Two types of phosphorescent-fluorescent mixed system were evaluated. The proper position of each primary color EML was crucial to obtain best performance in each system whereas the effect of an interlayer was found to be different in both systems.

  • Molecular switching in azobenzene mixed monolayers on a water surface was investigated by means of Maxwell displacement current(MDC) measurement. It was found that the change in the vertical component of the dipolemoment of the mixed monolayer during visible light irradiation was almost the same as that flowing during UV light irradiation. Also MDC was generated but it depended on the molar ratio. As a result. It's phtoisomerization progressed by 8A5H in mixed films.

  • Early growth, pigmentation, protein content, and phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (PAL) activity of red curly lettuces (Lactuca sativa L.) grown under different lighting conditions were investigated. Fluorescent lamps (control), blue, red, and blue plus red light-emitting diodes (LEDs) were used as light sources for 10 days. An equal proportion (1:1) of blue and red LEDs was used in the mixed radiation condition. Compared with the control, monochromic red or blue lighting increased fresh and dry weights of 'Ttuksum' and 'Jaju' lettuces. Anthocyanin synthesis was also significantly promoted by the mixed radiation of blue and red LEDs. The mixed radiation also increased the protein content and PAL enzyme activity of 'Ttuksum' leaves by about 200% compared to other treatments. Anthocyanin content was the highest in lettuces subjected to the mixture radiation of blue and red light treatment, while anthocyanin synthesis was inhibited by monochromic red light. The results of the present study indicate that growth and pigment synthesis in lettuces are significantly enhanced by exposure to mixed radiation from blue and red LEDs.

  • A charge trapping host structure was developed to improve the light-emitting efficiency of green phosphorescent organic light-emitting diodes. N, N'-dicarbazolyl-3,5-benzene(mCP) and a spirobifluorene based triplet host(PHl) were co-deposited as hosts in the emitting layer and the device performance was examined according to the composition mCP and PH1. The results showed that the quantum efficiency could be improved by 30 % using a mixed host of mCP and PH1.

  • The objective of this research is an investigation of engineering properties of weathered granite soil mixed with Phosphogypsum and recycled EPS beads as an light-weighted soil. A series of geotechnical laboratory tests including physical index test, compaction test, CBR test and direct shear test were performed for various mixing ratios. Based on the laboratory test results, it was found that the maximum dry unit weight of the light weight soil ranges $1.46{\sim}1.61g/cm^3$ and the maximum dry unit weight decreases about 11~19.3% with the increase of amount of the recycled EPS beads and the optimum moisture content increase. Since the CBR values of the light weight soil ranges 10.4~18.4%, the light weight soil mixed with Phosphogypsum and recycled EPS beads can be used as a light weight backfill material on the soft soil.

  • The structure of organic light-emitting diodes(OLEDs) with typical heterostructure consists of anode, hole injection layer, hole transport layer, light-emitting layer, electron transport layer, electron injection layer, and cathode. 4,4bis[N-(1-napthyl)-N-phenyl-amino]-biphenyl(NPB) used as a hole transport layer and 4'4-bis(2,2'-diphenyl vinyl)-1,1'-biphenyl(DPVBi) used as a blue light emitting layer were graded-mixed at selected ratio. Interface at heterojunction between the hole transport layer and the elecrtron transport layer restricts carrier's transfer. Mixing of the hole transport layer and the emitting layer reduces abrupt interface between the hole transport layer and the electron transport layer. The operating voltage of OLED devices with graded mixed-layer structure is 2.8 V at 1 $cd/m^2$ which is significantly lower than that of OLED device with typical heterostructure. The luminance of OLED devices with graded mixed-layer structure is 21,000 $cd/m^2$ , which is much higher than that of OLED device with typical heterostructure. This indicates that the graded mixed-layer enhances the movement of carriers by reducing the discontinuity of highest occupied molecular orbital(HOMO) of the interface between hole transport layer and emitting layer.

  • In this study, physical and geotechnical properties of the light weight mixed soil( weathered granite soil mixed with small pieces of waste EPS) were analyzed by laboratory experiments to examine its suitability for backfill materials of the reinforced-earth walls. Friction characteristics of geogrid-light weight sized soil were also investigated by performing the pullout tests for two types of geogrids having different flexural rigidity. Also a procedure was proposed to evaluate friction strength between geogrid and light weight miffed soil by using a stress-strain relationship of the orthotropic composite material subjected to both longitudinal and vertical loadings. By the procedure proposed in this study, values of the calibration coefficients ul and uf applicable for the evaluation of friction strengths between two types of geogrids and light weight mixed soils were further presented.

  • This study investigated the effects of the light conditions on the productivity of scenedesmus dimorphus in the continuous mass cultivation system. To compare the algal productivity according to the light conditions, S. dimorphus was cultivated continuously under the wide range of light intensity(200-600 PPFD) and various light wavelength(white light and red-blue mixed light). After 100 days of cultivation under the different light intensity, the productivity of S. dimorphus increased as light intensity decreased. So, the productivity was maximized as 100 mg/L/d when light intensity was 200 PPFD. In case of light wavelength, the productivity of S. dimorphus was enhanced about 20% with the white light compared to that of the red-blue mixed light. Consequently, the optimal light conditions for the continuous mass cultivation of S. dimorphus were 200 PPFD as light intensity and white light as light wavelength.

  • Harvested de-astringent persimmon 'Fuyu' were treated with various lighting sources under low (3℃) and high (22℃) temperatures. The weight loss rate of fruits was lower in those with Red LED than Fluorescence and Blue LED under both temperature conditions. Hardness and soluble solid content of fruits were higher in those with 3℃ / Blue LED or mixed LED (Blue+Red LEDs). Beta-carotene and lycopene content of fruit peel were higher in those with 3℃ than 22℃ and with Red LED or light sources with mixed red wavelength under both temperatures. When the fruits treated with light and temperature were stored for 4 days under 3℃ / dark condition, the hardness of the fruits did not significant difference among the treatments. Taken together all the results, it would be best to treat it light sources mixed red wavelength under 3℃.
