The Microcosm study for evaluating biobarrier application on sequential degradation of TCE products by Gasoline-Degradaing Mixed Culture

  • 본 연구에서는 난분해성 물질인 액상의 TCE가 영가철 표면에서 반응시 완전히 분해가 되지 않은 상태에서 생성되어지는 부산물인 Cis-DCE와 VC의 톨루엔 분해균주에 의한 처리 가능성을 회분식 실험으로 관찰하였다. 각각 2ppm의 Cis-DCE와 VC에 톨루엔 균주를 주입한 결과 1차기질로 톨루엔을 사용하고 그후에 Cis-DCE와 VC를 제거 하는 것으로 나타났다. 또한 동시에 주입시 1차기질로 톨루엔을 사용하는 것은 동일하나 VC를 먼저 사용하고 그후에 Cis-DCE를 제거하며 제거 속도 또한 줄여드는 것으로 나타났다.

Carbamate-Based Surface Reactions for Release of Amine Molecules from Electroactive Self-Assembled Monolayers

  • In this work, we developed self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) of alkanethiols on gold that can release amine groups, when an electrical potential was applied to the gold. The strategy was based on the introduction of the electroactive carbamate group, which underwent the two-electron oxidation with simultaneous release of the amine molecules, to alkanethiols. The synthesis of the designed thiol compounds was achieved by coupling isocyanate-containing compound with hydroquinone. The electroactive thiols were mixed with hydroxyl-containing alkanethiol [$HS(CH_2)_{11}OH$] to form mixed monolayers, and cyclic votammetry was used for the characterization of the release. The mixed SAMs showed a first oxidation peak at +540 mV (versus Ag/AgCl reference electrode), demonstrating irreversible conversion from carbamate to hydroqinone with simultaneous release of the amine groups. The second and third cycles showed typical reversible redox reaction of hydroquinone and quione: the oxidation and reduction occurred at +290 mV and -110 mV, respectively. The measurement of ToF-SIMS further indicates that electrochemical-assisted chemical reaction successfully released amine groups. This new SAM-based electrochemistry would be applicable for direct release of biologically active molecules that contain amine groups.

강섬유와 묶음철근 보강을 통한 고성능 연결보의 이력거동 평가 (Hysteretic Behavior Evaluation of a RC Coupling Beam using a Steel Fiber and Diagonal Reinforcement)

  • 본 논문은 시공성과 내진성능을 증대하기 위해 고성능 강섬유를 혼합한 묶음대각철근 연결보를 제시한다. 연결보의 실험은 4개의 실험체로 구성하고 고성능 강섬유를 혼합한 실험체에 반복하중을 가하여 이력거동을 비교 평가하였다. 실험의 주요 변수는 강섬유의 혼합에 따라 대각철근의 묶음 여부와 스터럽의 철근량이다. 기준이 되는 실험체는 묶음대각철근에 ACI318에서 요구하는 스터럽의 철근량을 100% 적용하였다. 이와 함께, 동일한 묶음대각철근을 적용한 상태에서 스터럽의 철근량을 75%와 50%로 조절하여 두 실험체를 추가적으로 만들고 일반대각철근을 고려, 총 4개의 실험체가 제작되었다. 이번 실험에서 연결보의 콘크리트 타설시 고성능 강섬유를 함유율 1%로 혼합하였다. 모든 실험체는 1/2스케일로 형상비 3.5(l/h=1050/300)으로 이루어졌다. 본 실험결과에서 강섬유를 1% 혼입한 고성능 시멘트를 적용한 연결보는 스터럽 철근양을 75%, 50% 줄인 것과 기준실험체로 적용된 스터럽 철근양 100%의 강도 및 강성, 에너지소산능력에서 큰 차이를 보이지 않았다.

도재의 표면처리에 따른 레진시멘트와의 전단결합강도 및 표면상태에 관한 연구 (A STUDY OF SHEAR BOND STRENGTH AND SURFACE CONDITION BETWEEN SURFACE TREATED PORCELAIN AND RESIN CEMENT)

  • This study evaluated shear bond strength between porcelain and resin cement according to various surface treatments of porcelain, and surface condition of debonded porcelain. 50 porcelain specimens(Celay block A2M7) and composite resin specimens(Clearfil Photo-Bright) were prepared, and divided into 5 experimental groups according to the treatment method of porcelain surface. 5 experimental groups by surface treatments were as follows; CONTROL Group : No surface treatment was done on the surface of porcelains. SAND Group : The surface of porcelains were sandblasted with $50{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide for 5 seconds. HF Group: The surface of porcelains were etched with 8% Hydrofluoric acid for 4 minutes. SIL Group: The surface of porcelains were coated with silane coupling agent and heated at $100^{\circ}C$ for 5 minutes. SAND+HF+SIL Group : The surface of porcelains were sandblasted with $50{\mu}m$ aluminum oxide for 5 seconds and etched with 8% Hydrofluoric acid for 4 minutes, and coated with silane coupling agent and heated at $100^{\circ}C$ for 5 minutes. After surface treatments on the prepared porcelain surface two pastes of Panavia 21$^{(R)}$ were mixed, they were applied between composite resin block and porcelain surface, and then excessive resin cements were removed, and its margin was surrounded with Oxyguard II. All specimens were stored for 24 hours in water at $37^{\circ}C$ and tested with Instron testing machine between porcelains and resin cements, and debonded porcelain surfaces were observed under Scanning Electon Microscope(Hitachi S-2300) at 20kvp. The values from each group were compared statistically by Student's t-test. The obtained results were as follows; 1. The shear bond strength without surface treatment of porcelain was the lowest among all experimental groups(p<0.05). 2. The detached porcelain surface with sandblasting alone had more remarkable cracks than with only Hydrofluoric Acid or Silane coupling 2gent, but showed the lowest value of shear bond strength among surface treated groups(p<0.05), 3. When porcelain surface was treated by hydrofluoric acid, it affected shear bond strength more than silane coupling agent, but there were no significant statistical differences(p>0.05). 4. When three methods were combined to increase shear bond strength between porcelains and resin cements, its value was the highest than the others(p<0.05). 5. In Scannig Electron Micrograph of detached porcelain surface with no treatment, the sample revealed adhesive failure between the porcelain and resin cement whereas detached porcelain surface with combination of three method cohesive failure on the porcelain.

KCT첨가에 따른 $(Na,K)NbO_3$ 세라믹스의 압전특성

  • In this study, in order to develop excellent lead-free composition ceramics for piezoelectric transformer, $(K_{5.4}Cu_{1.3}Ta_{10}O_{29})$ added $(K_{0.5}Na_{0.5}](Nb_{0.97}Sb_{0.03})O_3$ were fabricated using conventional mixed oxide method. At the 0.9mol% KCT added specimen, electromechanical coupling factor(kp) and mechanical quality factor ($Q_m$) showed the optimal values of 0.437 and 727.07, respectively, for piezoelectric transformer application.

Challenges in Structural Design of Bumeo W-project

  • W-Project is 60-story mixed-use residential building complex project in Daegu, the third biggest city in South Korea. There are lots explorable items to be solved to secure structural safety and meet the serviceability requirements. This paper describes what kind of structural system is optimized based on the architectural requirements and structural components design and the grade of concrete strength altered on floors. The defining process of lateral resisting system of outrigger compared to the core ratio of typical plan is illustrated in detail.

소결온도에 따른 NKN-LST 세라믹스의 구조 및 압전 특성 (Structure and piezoelectric properties of NKN-LST ceramics with sintering temperature)

  • In this study, NKN-LST ceramics were prepared by a conventional mixed oxide method and their structure and piezoelectric properties were investigated with the variations of sintering temperature. It was observed that the various sintering temperatures influenced the electrical properties and structural properties of the NKN-LST ceramics. It was found that the piezoelectric properties of NKN-LST ceramic sintered at $1080^{\circ}C$ for 4h has a piezoelectric constant and a planar electromechanical coupling coefficient of 161pC/N and 0.311% respectively. This ceramics look very promising as possible, practicable, lead-free replacements for lead zirconate titanate.

설치공간이 제한된 순환펌프의 개발에 관한 연구 (A Study on Development of a Circulating Pump with Space Constraintst)

  • A circulating pump with installation space constraints was developed satisfying performance requirements such as flowrate, head and NPSHAv. The development procedures are composed of conceptual design, configuration design, performance analysis by CFD and performance test which were established in KIMM. The developed pump is OH4 type centrifugal pump which has a mixed-flow type impeller, a double volute and a rigid coupling. As a result of tests, the pump proved to meet all the requirements including space constraints and performance.

  • Three-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equations have been solved by the node-centered finite volume method with unstructured hybrid grids. The pressure-velocity coupling is handled by the artificial compressibility algorithm and convective fluxes are obtained by Roe's flux difference splitting scheme with linear reconstruction of the solutions. Euler implicit method is used for time-integration. The viscous terms are discretised in a manner to handle any kind of grids such as tetrahedra, prisms, pyramids, hexahedra, or mixed-element grid. The numerical efficiency and accuracy of the present method is critically evaluated for several example problems.

Reduced Density Matrix Theory for Vibrational Absorption Line Shape in Energy Transfer Systems: Non-Condon Effects in Water

  • Using the projection operator technique, a reduced density matrix theory for linear absorption spectrum of energy transfer systems is developed for the theoretical absorption line shape of the systems with non-Condon transitions. As an application, we considered a model system of OH vibrations of water. In the present model calculation, the OH vibration modes are coupled to each other via intra-molecular coupling mechanism while their intermolecular couplings are turned off. The time-correlation functions appearing in the formulation are calculated from a mixed quantum/classical mechanics method. The present theory is successful in reproducing the exact absorption line shape. Also the present theory was improved from an existing approximate theory, time-averaged approximation approach.
