Objectives: This study identified the labor union associates' perception and participation status on SHEW and analyzed these two Constructs correlations with Safety and health education at work(SHEW) in manufacture and construction industries. Methods: Self-administered survey was successfully finished by 103 labor union associates (91 employed in 78 manufacturing companies and 12 employed in 12 constructing companies over 12 areas). Two questionnaires, survey direction slip, the official letter to ask survey participation from Korea Ministry of Labor, and a posted envelop to return were delivered to each workplace labor union office in conveniently selected companies. Most participants' companies were at least medium to large in manufacturing industry and most associates were men and married. A survey questionnaire examined demographic characteristics, SHEW status (participation status included), and perceptions of SHEW. Results: Overall, manufacturing companies had better infrastructures for SHEW, employer support for SHEW, and current educators' competencies than constructing companies. These infrastructures for SHEW were closely correlated with company labor union participation on SHEW and the correlation coefficients were greater than any other expectations or needs variables for SHEW. Conclusions: The primary strategies for better participation and support from labor union need to be developed in supporting for organizational infrastructures related to SHEW and strengthening safety and health education training programs for supervisors or educators at work.
Domestic construction industry has considerable level of construction performance and technology thanks to the economic development and as the result of performing diverse oversea construction project. However, construction disasters have been steadily increasing, and do severe disasters at faster pace. Most of such disasters happen at small and small medium-sized construction fields, which contract size is less than 10 billion won. small and medium-sized construction fields are not obliged to designate a safety manager, and have limitations in engaging self-regulating disaster prevention activities due to reduced budget for safety facilities. For the small and medium-sized construction sites with less than 10 billion won, the Ministry of Labor has been carrying out mobile inspections of construction safety. However, the effect so far is insignificant and an improvement plan is required. Therefore, in the present thesis, we derive problems appearing in the current construction safety mobile inspection system, investigate and study systems in foreign countries, and suggest an efficient and effective plan to operate safety technology inspections. First of all, we establish a standard to select sites to be inspected that are high in construction risk and disaster occurrence probability In addition, we suggest a plan to take administrative and judiciary measures based on the total score for disaster factors considering the disaster occurrence probability and the illegal practices. Furthermore, a scheme to maximize the effect of disaster prevention is sought by building an organic cooperative system between the Ministry of Labor, Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency and other organizations specialized in instruction of construction disaster prevention. Finally, we induce a research conclusion that leads to self-regulating safety management through checking and instructing systematic management on mobile inspections.
Purpose: This study aimed to analyze the contribution of emotional labor (surface acting, deep acting) and organizational commitment (affective commitment, continuance commitment) to turnover intention and customer orientation of school foodservice dietitian. Methods: Our survey was administered to 393 school foodservice dietitian in the Busan area on February 11, 2014. Results: For verification of mean differences, the mean scores for surface acting, deep acting, affective commitment, and continuance commitment were found to be 2.53/5.00, 3.71, 2.88, and 3.57, respectively. The mean surface acting score was significantly different according to age (p<0.001), total length of career as a dietitian (p<0.01), school type (p<0.001), and employment status (p<0.05). The mean deep acting and turnover intention scores were significantly different according to age (p<0.001), total length of career as a dietitian (p<0.001), school type (p<0.001), employment status (p<0.001), and no. of meals served (p<0.001). The mean customer orientation score was significantly different according to age (p<0.05), employment status (p<0.01), and number of work hour (p<0.05). There was a positive correlation (p<0.01) between turnover intention and surface acting and continuance commitment, but a negative correlation (p<0.01) with deep acting and affective commitment. Also, there was a positive correlation (p<0.01) between customer orientation and deep acting, affective commitment, but a negative correlation (p<0.01) with surface acting. Affective commitment had a negative influence on turnover intention (${\beta}=-0.444$, p<0.001), but surface acting had a positive influence on turnover intention (${\beta}=0.110$, p<0.05). Conclusion: These results suggest that management of affective commitment is essential for decreasing turnover intention. Therefore, emotional labor and organizational commitment of school foodservice dietitians should be managed from the school foodservice organizational viewpoint of The Ministry of Education.
Drug metabolism mostly occurs in the liver. Cytochrome P450 (CYP) is a drug-metabolizing enzyme that is responsible for many important drug metabolism reactions. Recently, the US FDA and EU EMA have suggested that CYP enzyme induction can be measured by both enzymatic activity and mRNA expression. However, these experiments are time-consuming and their interassay variability can lead to misinterpretations of the results. To resolve these problems and establish a more powerful method to measure CYP induction, we determined CYP induction by using luminescent assay. Luminescent CYP assays link CYP enzyme activity to firefly luciferase luminescence technology. In this study, we measured the induction of CYP isozymes (1A2, 2B6, 2C9, and 3A4) in cryopreserved human hepatocytes (HMC424, 478, and 493) using a luminometer. We then examined the potential induction abilities (unknown so far) of mesalazine, a drug for colitis, and mosapride citrate, which is used as an antispasmodic drug. The results showed that mesalazine promotes CYP2B6 and 3A4 activities, while mosapride citrate promotes CYP1A2, 2B6, and 3A4 activities. Luminescent CYP assays offer rapid and safe advantages over LC-MS/MS and qRT-PCR methods. Furthermore, luminescent CYP assays decrease the interference between the optical properties of the test compound and the CYP substrates. Therefore, luminescent CYP assays are less labor intensive, rapid, and can be used as robust tools for high-throughput CYP screening during early drug discovery.

As our society enters an aged society, it is becoming increasingly important to resolve digital divide of older adults. However, the digital divide of the older adults are generally neglected compared to other information poor. The aim of this study is to propose considerations for library policy development in order to resolve the digital divide of the older adults. The study examined regulation of the Framework Act on National Informatization and the Ministry of Science and ICT, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Also it investigated guidelines and current status of services to older adults in the library. The study suggested that public libraries should be used as a basic base for the services to resolve the digital divide to older adults across the country, and the services should be organized systematically and sustainably through public libraries.
A fisher means any person employed to provide his/her labor in a fishing vessel in exchange for a wage. There is no concept of a fisher in Seafarers Act. This act shall not apply to seafarers who are in service on board a fishing vessel the gross tonnage of which is less than 20 tons. However, of the total 63,112 fishing vessels, only 2,829 fishing vessels have a total tonnage of more than 20 tons. Fishermen engaged in fishing vessels with a gross tonnage of which is less than 20 tons are not guaranteed to be paid arrears through the Wage Claim Guarantee Fund for Seafarer (Article 56). In addition, fishermen working on a fishing vessel are excluded from the Wage claim Guarantee Act. The Labor Standards Act shall apply to fishermen engaged in fishing vessels with a gross tonnage of which is less than 20 tons. Fishermen and seafarers are at a higher risk of living security than regular workers. Guaranteeing the payment of wages is essential for fishermen to improve the life and employment stability. In order to guarantee fisher wage claims, the concept of a fisher in the Seafarers Act must be realized by sources such as the Wage Claim Guarantee Fund of Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, step by step expansion of members in the wage claim guarantee fund for seafarers and interest for delayed payment of wages, etc.
The primary purpose of the general duty clause is to offer an extra measure of protection to employees in the workplace. Most standards implemented under OSHA are targeted at a specific hazard. The general duty clause, however allows inspectors to cite employers for exposing its employees to a recognized hazard that has not been specifically addressed in the regulations. Congress intended the general duty clause to be a limited means of advancing the purposes of the OSHAct. But OSHA has not always regarded the general duty clause as the limited means for protecting the safety and health of employees that Congress intented. OSHA attempted to expand the scope of the general duty clause, at times improperly, to make it a more flexible enforcement tool. OSHA's interpretation of each of the restrictions on the scope of the clause has changed over the years. In recent years the general duty clause has been utilized as a sometimes controversial mechanism for enforcement of safety guidelines that have not yet been specifically addressed by statute or regulation. The most notable example of this was application of the general duty clause to ergonomic hazards.

Objectives: The major objective of this study is to review overall and in detail the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 in the U.K.and the principal contents of this act. Methods: A variety of articles related to the background and circumstances under which the legistration was enacted and the details of this act were investigated and analyzed. Results: In enacting Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007, legislators mainly took elements of legal culture into account and focused on seeking to broaden the law on corporate manslaughter. An indictable offence is considered to have been committed if the way in which an organization's activities are managed or organised causes a person's death and amounts to a gross breach of the relevant duty of care owed by the organization to the deceased. The way in which its activities are managed or organized by its senior management is a substantial element in the breach. Upon conviction, a corporation may be ordered to remedy any breach, publicize its failures, or be given an unlimited fine. Conclusions: The enactment background and details of Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act 2007 is understood accurately. On the basis of the findings, it is necessary to heighten effectiveness of punishment.for senior management or corporations that cause a person's death in Korea.

Objectives: The present system of occupational safety and health law gives priority to traditional command and control regulations. However, this may give rise to problems such as the delay of standard-setting and shortages of human resources. The aim of this study is to examine the usability of private standards in occupational safety and health systems. Materials: After the limits of occupational safety and health law were examined, an application plan for private norms (EN, as enforced in the EU) and occupational safety and health management systems (OSHMS) was investigated. Results: The utilization of private norms and OSHMS may address the limits of the current legal system. In particular, OSHMS is known internationally as a measure for achieving improvements in overall occupational safety and health performance. As a result, occupational safety and health law and private norms/OSHMS are complementary to one another. Conclusions: Even though the utilization of private standards may give rise to legal questions, such standards as complementary measures to traditional command and control regulations need to be utilized progressively in occupational safety and health systems.

The shortage of agricultural labour due to industrial growth has greatly induced the mechanization in Korean agriculture. However small and scattered land holdings have been the main constraints in the process of mechanization. This paper describes the interrelationships of farm land structure, machinery selection and machinery operation areas. The sandy silt loam irrigated paddy land having single crop a year was selected as a target areas for this study. Machine operation cost is greatly influenced by operation period, plot geometry and operation area. On the improved geometry plots, optimal machine size increases slowly with increase in operation area. Operable area increases due to increased effective machine capacity on better geometry plot. The difference between the effects of operation period and plot geometry is that in the former case, the cost reduction is caused by delay in increase of machine size, whereas in the latter case timeliness cost is reduced by increase ffective capacity. The effect of farmland consolidation is greater on small plots than that on big plots. Increasing wage rates have induced the adoption of more labor saving machinery. Bigger labor saving machines require enlargement of operation area and larger plots through improvement in farm land structure. Machine cost on poor plot geometry increases more rapidly than that on the good plot geometry and as operation area increases machine cost reduces significantly. It is concluded that the development of agricultural mechanization ion Korea will depend on the improvement in farm land structure and enlargement of operation area.
