In this paper, we proposed a 3 dB coupler using N-section parallel-coupled lines and designed a very compact one based on the analysis results. The coupled line has been analyzed by spectral domain method. After we obtain the s-parameters of N-section parallel-coupled lines by using port reduction method 4-port s-parameters are derived. The 3 dB couplers, which were fabricated, are not necessary to implement high impedance lines and tight coupling gaps as Lange Couplers because loose coupling is used. To realize a minimum section, we used the PCB that has high a dielectric constant and a thickness. The experimental results show that it has wide bandwidth of about 42 %(0.5 dB unbalance) from 3.6 GHz to 5.5 GHz and phase difference within 1 degree. Also, The isolation characteristics about 15 dB at its pass-band are obtained.
This study was conducted to propose a reasonable requirement regulation of cutoff barriers composed of bottom layer and vertical barrier of offshore landfill for the prevention of contaminant leakage. The bottom layer was composed of impermeable clay layer; vertical walls were composed of double walls; outer wall was composed of steel sheet pile which registed against outer force; cutoff vertical barrier took the role of inner wall. Seepage-advection-dispersion numerical analysis was conducted using SEEP/W and CTRAN/W programs under steady and unsteady flows. The results showed that the values calculated under steady flow showed higher migration of pollutant than those of unsteady flow. The values calculated under steady flow are more valid from a design point of view. Under steady flow and the bottom clay layer and when the vertical barrier are homogeneous and completely well installed, respectively, the minimum required cutoff regulations for hydraulic conductivity, thickness, and embedded depth of the bottom clay layer and vertical barrier were suggested.

In this study, the harmless crack size (ahml) by double shot peening (DSP) using shot balls with different diameters was evaluated on carburized, quenched-tempered SCM822H steel. The minimum crack size (aNDI) detectable by non-destructive inspection was also evaluated. The relationship between the crack size (a25,50) that reduces the fatigue limit by 25% and 50% and ahml was evaluated. The residual stress of DSP was greater in SP(0.6+0.08) than SP(0.8+0.08) and appeared deeper in the depth direction. In addition, the hardness below the surface appeared larger. The fatigue limit of DSP increased 2.07 times and 1.95 times compared to non-SP. All ahml of the DSP specimen was determined at the depth (a). The compressive residual stress distribution affects ahml, and the ahml of SP(0.6+0.08), which has a large compressive residual stress and a high fatigue limit, appeared large. ahml of SP(0.6+0.08) introduced deeper than the residual stress of SP(0.8+0.08) is larger in the range of As=1.0-0.3. Since the residual stress in the thickness direction has a greater effect on ahml than the residual stress at the surface, it is necessary to introduce it more deeply. The relation of ahml, a25,50, and aNDI were evaluated in the point for safety and reliability.
Depending on the plastic deformation capacity required, structural steel design under the current codes can be classified into three categories: elastic, plastic, and seismic design. Most of the current steel codes explicitly forbid the use of a steel material with a yield strength higher than 450 MPa in the plastic design because of the concerns about its low plastic deformation capacity as well as the lack of test data on local and lateral torsional buckling behavior. In this study, flexural tests on full-scale H-shape members built with SM490A (ordinary steel or benchmark material) and HSB800 (high-strength steel) were carried out. The primary objective was to investigate the appropriateness of extrapolating the local buckling criterion of the current codes, which was originally developed for normal-strength steel, to the case of high-strength steel. All the SM490A specimens performed consistently with the current code criteria and exhibited sufficient strength and ductility. The performance of the HSB800 specimens was also very satisfactory from the strength perspective; even the specimens with a noncompact and slender flange developed the plastic moment capacity. The HSB800 specimens, however, showed an inferior plastic rotation capacity due to the premature tensile fracture of the beam bottom flange beneath the vertical stiffener at the loading point. The plastic rotation capacity that was achieved was less than 3 (or the minimum level required for a plastic design). Although the test results in this study indicate that the extrapolation of the current flange local-buckling criterion to the case of high-strength steel is conservative from the elastic design perspective, further testing together with an associated analytical study is required to identify the causes of the tensile fracture and to establish a flange slenderness criterion that is more appropriate for high-strength steel.

The objective of this study is to evaluate the stress distribution according to the thread design and the marginal bone loss of a single unit dental implant under the axial and offset-axial loading by three dimensional finite element analysis. The implants used had the diameter of 5mm and 4mm with 13mm in length and prosthesis with a conical type which is 6mm in height and 12mm in diameter. The thread designs were triangular, square and buttress. In the three dimensional finite element model with $15\times15\times20mm$ hexahedron and 2mm cortical thickness, implants were placed with crown to root ratio 7:12, 10:9, 13:6 and 16:3. And additionally the axial force of 100N were applied into 0mm, 2mm and 4mm away from the center of the implants. The results were as follows 1. The maximum von-Mises stress in cortical bone was concentrated to cervical area of implant, and in cancellous bone, apical portion. 2. Comparing the von-Mises stresses in cortical bone of 2mm and 4mm offset loading with central axial loading, it were increased to 3 and 5 times in diameter 4mm implant, and 2 and 4 times, in diameter 5mm implant. 3. The square threads were more effective than the triangular and butress as the longer diameter, the offset loading, and the worse crown to root ratio. 4. The von-Mises stresses were relatively stable until crown to root ratio 13:6, but it was suddenly increased at 16:3. From the results of this study, minimum requirement of crown to root ratio of implant is 2:1, and in the respect of crown to root ratio, diameter and offset loading, square threads are more effective than triangular and buttress threads.

I-type girders are widely applied as very economical sections in plate girder bridges. There has been research on developing composite laminated panels, curved plates reinforced with closed-end ribs, and new forms of ribs and compression flanges for steel box girders. However, there is a limitation in analyzing the exact cause of local buckling caused by an I-type girder's webs. Therefore, an I-type girder's web was modeled using the finite element analysis program LUSAS 17.0 before and after reinforcement. We checked for the minimum thickness criteria presented in the Korea highway bridge design code, and the cause of buckling after performing a linear elastic buckling analysis of dead and live loads was analyzed. Before reinforcement, an eigenvalue (λ1) at the 1st mode was 0.7025, the critical buckling load was smaller than the applied load, and there is a buckling. After reinforcement, when applying vertical and horizontal stiffeners to the web part of the girder at support, a Nodal line was formed, the eigenvalue was 1.5272, and buckling stability was secured. To improve buckling trace of the girder at the support, an additional plate was applied to the web at the support to ensure visual and structural safety, but buckling occurs at center of web. The eigenvalue (λ1) was 3.5299, and this method is efficient for reinforcing the web of the support.

Concrete slab curls and warps due to the uneven distribution of temperature and moisture and as the result, internal stress develops within the slab. Therefore, environmental loads must be considered in addition to the traffic loads to predict the lifespan of the concrete pavement more accurately. The strength of the concrete slab is gradually decreases to a certain level at which fatigue cracking is generated by the repetitive traffic and environmental loadings. In this study, a new fatigue regression model was developed based on the results from previously performed studies. To verify the model, another laboratory flexural fatigue test program which was not used in the model development, was conducted and compared with the predictions of other existing models. Each fatigue model was applied to analysis logic of cumulative fatigue damage of concrete pavement developed in the study. The sensitivity of cumulative fatigue damage calculated by each model was analyzed for the design factors such as slab thickness, joint spacing, complex modulus of subgrade reaction and the load transfer at joints. As the result, the model developed in this study could reflect environmental loading more reasonably by improving other existing models which consider R, minimum/maximum stress ratio.
The purpose of this study was to determine the physiological responses and the Subjective sensations of the human subjects when 10 human subjects(5 males and 5 females) were tested with selected ensembles, including the uniforms of students, industrial and bank workers. For the study, garment material and design were selected, which was mostly used in Taegu area by the survey. Thermal manikin and the human subject tests were performed. The results were as follows: 1. There was no significant difference among skin temperature of head by season and among that of breast and back by all variables, however, there was a significant difference among that of belly by gender and that of thigh and shank by season. In addition, there was no significant difference among rectal temperature by gender and season, but there was a significant difference by uniform. 2. Mean skin temperature of male subjects was significantly higher than that of female subjects. Specially in lower environmental condition, the difference got larger. 3. There was a significant difference among purse rate of subjects by uniform, but there was no significant difference among those by gender and season. There were no significant difference among maximum and minimum blood pressure by gender, uniform, and season. 4. There was a significant difference in temperature of chest among gender and uniform, and there was no significant difference in temperature of back by season. In addition, There was a significant difference in humidity of back by uniform and season but there were no significant difference in that by gender. 5. There was a significant difference in humidity sensation by gender, comfort sensation by uniform and season, but there was no significant difference thermal sensation by uniform and season. 6. For the result of regression analysis, we got the regression equations as follows: Clo=1.810 Thickness+0.525, Clo=0.475 weight+0.863.
Mooring bollards are the mandatory facility in ports for they are the objects used to fasten the ship to its position at the berth. All the mooring bollards were installed following suggested sizes, numbers, materials and shape of installation according to Port and Fishing Design Standards. However, Korea has no management standard for use of mooring bollards to safety in ship berthing. In this research, the installation standard for mooring bollards including the holding power applied to mooring bollards in berthing was studied. Also, the performance of mooring bollards for minimum safety guarantee in berthing based on research of various specification by their sizes was analyzed. The analysis on mooring bollards was examined by each power on mooring bollards from the applied force in berthing divided into horizontal and vertical direction in order to examine the performance of domestic mooring bollards, the limit force is calculated based on detailed specification research result. As a result, the working stress according to the towing force was found to be at least 150Mpa and it was evaluated to be 60% of the limit strength. Also, by comparing each forces, the appropriateness was examined and the specification of maximum capability calculated. This performance evaluation method based on detail specification of mooring bollards will be expected to be useful to examine the appropriateness of mooring bollards for various types of vessel in berthing and to develop maintenance and management standard through the performance change evaluation referring to mooring bollard detailed specification changes.
In this study, hexagonal ferrite powder with chemical formula SrZn2-xCoxFe16O27 was synthesized by a solid-state reaction method and its electromagnetic (EM) wave absorption characteristics were evaluated in the frequency range of 0.1-18 GHz with absorber thickness range of 0 - 10 mm. Reflection loss (RL) affecting electromagnetic wave absorption performance was calculated based on the transmission line theory using measured complex permeabilities and permittivities. RL spectra were also directly measured for some samples. They were well matched with calculated results. High-frequency complex permeability characteristics were changed gradually according to the amount of Co substitution (x). The EM wave absorption frequency band could be tuned accordingly. Hexaferrite samples with x = 1.0, 1.25, and 1.5 exhibited remarkable maximum electromagnetic wave absorption performances with minimum RL (RLmin) lowered than -50 dB. They also showed a very broad frequency band (Δf > 10 GHz) in which more than 90% of the EM wave energy absorption occurred (RL ≤ -10 dB).
