Some promising design criteria for the construction of artificial beaches are presented. Based on the result of visitor's enquete and field observations, the degree of satisfaction for some parameters such as wave height, water and air temperature and quality of sediments are obtained. Correlations between these parameters and the degree of satisfaction are also derived and discussed. From the study, the desirable design conditions for artificial beaches with the degree of satisfaction over 70% are proposed as; the minimum comfortable utilization area per capita is found to be approximately $10m^2$, maximum mean wave height 0.7m, the lowest water temperature $22^{\circ}C$, average diameter of sands 0.5mm approximately with identical grain size and roundness, and the foreshore slope less than 1 : 20.

This study proposes a risk analysis methodology for information system security management in which the complexity on the procedure that the existing risk analysis methodology is reduced to the least. The proposed risk analysis methodology is composed of 3 phases as follows: beforehand processing phase, counter measure setting phase, post processing phase. The basic risk analysis phase is a basic security management phase in which fixed items are checked when the information security system is not yet established or a means for the minimum security control is necessary for a short period of time. In the detailed risk analysis phase, elements of asset a vulnerability, and threat are analysed, and using a risk degree production table produced from these elements, the risk degree is classified into 13 cases. In regard to the risk, the 13 types of risk degree will execute physical, administrative, and technical measures through ways such as accepting, rejecting, reducing, and transferring. Also, an evaluation on a remaining risk of information system is performed through a penetration test, and security policy set up and post management phase is to be carried out.

Effects of grain size and cold rolling degree on shape memory ability and transformation temperature were studied in Fe-35% Mn-6% Si shape memory alloy. Md point of the alloy was determined by variation of yield stress with test temperature. The Md point measured in this way was linearly increased with increasing grain size. Shape memory ability of the alloy was decreased with increasing grain size, showing a minimum value at around $63{\mu}m$, and then increased with increasing grain size. From this result, it was concluded that the shape memory ability in the grain size smaller than a critical value is controlled by amount of retained ${\gamma}$ and prior ${\varepsilon}$ phase, but that the shape memory ability in the grain size greater than the critical value is mainly dominated by grain boundary area in unit volume of parent phase. The shape memory ability was decreased with increasing deformation degree. This was because the ${\gamma}$ content being available for the formation of ${\varepsilon}$ martensite during bending was decreased with increasing deformation degree.

This paper presented as follows results of laboratory model tests with various shaped footings on soil bed reinforced with the strips on the base of behaviour of soil structure according to the loads and triaxial test results reinforced with geotextiles. Their parameters studied were the effects on the bearing capacity of a footing of the first layer of reinforcement, horizontal and vertical spacing of layers, number of layers, tensile strength of reinforcement and iclination load to the vertical 1.Depending on the strip arrangement, ultimate bearing capacity values could be more improved than urreinforced soil and the failure of soil was that the soil structure was transfered from the macrospace to microspase and its arrangement, from edge to edge to face to face. 2.The reinforcement was produced the reinforcing effects due to controlling the value of factor of one and permeable reinforcement was never a barrier of drainage condition. 3.Strength ratio was decreased as a linear shape according to increment of saturation degree of soil used even though at the lower strength ratio, the value of M-factor was rot influenced on the strength ratio but impermeable reinforcement decreased the strength of bearing capacity. 4.Ultimate bearing capacity under the plane-strain condition was appeared a little larger than triaxial or the other theoretical formulars and the circular footing more effective. 5.The maximum reinforcing effects were obtained at U I B=o.5, B / B=3 and N=3, when over that limit only acting as a anchor, and same strength of fabric appeared larger reinforcing effects compared to the thinner one. 6.As the LDR increased, more and more BCR occurred and there was appeared a block action below Z / B=O.5, but over the value, decrement of BCR was shown linear relation, and no effects above one. 7.The coefficient of the inclination was shown of minimum at the three layers of fabrics, but the value of H / B related to the ultimate load was decreased as increment of inclination degree, even though over the value of 4.5 there wasn't expected to the reinforcing effects As a consequence of the effects on load inclination, the degree of inclination of 15 per cent was decreased the bearing capacity of 70 per cent but irnproved the effects of 45 per cent through the insertion of geotextile.

The Purpose of this study was to determine the degree and contents composing the qualify of life and to analyze the relationships among the demographic characteristics, the degree of pain and the quality of life of the cancer patients experiencing a radiation therapy. The subjects for this study were 110 out-patients experiencing a radation therapy at C University Hospital in K-city, from April to October, 1992. The data were obtained using a convenience sampling technique. The tool of this study was the quality of life scale developed by Ro, You-Ja and the data were analyzed using a SAS program for percentages, mean & standard deviation. ANOVA and Scheffe test. The results were as follows : 1. the average total score of the quality of life of the subjects was 139.65(minimum score 121-maximum score 164), item mean score grange 1-5) was 2.97. For each factor in the quality of life scale, the mean scores (range 1-5) were 3.29 in emotional state, 3.14 in relationship with neighbors. 3.04 in physical state and function. 2.92 in self-esteem, 2.81 in economic life and 2.65 in relationship with family. 2. The incidence of physical symptoms was seen fatigue ($84.5\%$). anorexia ($65.5\%$) and weight loss ($47.3\%$) in order. The 50.9 percentage of the subjects complained of moderate or severe pain. 3. The results of the analysis of the relationships between the demographic variables and the quality of life were as follows : Gender (F=8.45, P=0.0044), age (F=6.29, P=0.0001). educational level (F=5.67, P=0.0046), marital status (F=6.82. P=0.0016), occupation (F=2.86, P=0.009), monthly income (F=6.90, P=0.0003), family living together (F=3.95, P=0.0494) and person paying a medical fee (F=5.14, P=0.0023). 4. The relationship between the degree of pain and the quality of life was significant difference (F=3.12, P=0.0482).
Bacterial cultures of the transfer forceps, 4"$\times$4"mesh gauze and polluted air of nursing units of general surgery, internal medicine, gynecology and pediatrics of S.N.U.H. were carried on for S consecutive days (from 17th to 21s1 August, 1972) to investigate the degree of contamination of such instruments which were used in dressing the patients. 1. The average hospitalized patients for each nursing unit were 24 persons. 2. The frequency of dressing, and using forceps and gauze in surgical nursing unit were 25,316 and 66 times respectively. Actually the forceps were used most frequently. There was no dressing in the nursing unit of internal median. 3. Most of dressing were carried on from 11 : 00 to 13 : 59 o′clock. 4. Averagely 121.5 persons passed through each nursing unit. 549 visitors dropped in the nursing unit of gynecology in maximum, and 219 visitors in the nursing of internal medicine in minimum. The visitors rushed in from 11 : 00 to 13 : 59 o′clock to he 142.5 persons for each nursing unit in average. 5. Colony counts after the bacterial cultures of the forceps and gauze disclosed 1098.44 and 704.51 per plate respectively. 6. The degree of contamination was parallel to the duration and frequency of dressings. 7. The degree of contamination of the instruments was severest in the nursing unit of internal medicine, and !east in the nursing unit of gynecology. On the matter of gauze, the contamination was most extreme in the pediatric nursing unit. 8. There was no significant daily differences in terms of contamination throughout the week. 9. It was disclosed that empty forceps jars were less contaminated than the jars with solution of any kind. 10. Bacterial cultures of the polluted air in corridor showed 73,88 colony counts per plate.
On this study, to develop the impact absorbing system for spreader, we operated the dynamic response for models of three types consisting of spring and oil damper by the finite element analysis. Also, in the three types of impact absorbing system, we set the restricted stroke of piston to the static variables and the optimum design was operated to have the minimum value of the reaction force for the impact. As the result, the direct model of two degree of freedom system has lowest value, the model of one degree of freedom system has higher value than that and the parallel model of two degree of freedom system has the highest value. And we studied the effect that the change of spring constant and damping coefficient affect to the reaction force and as the result of the optimum design, we found that reaction force has the lowest value in the each of models.
The objective of this study is the investigation and analysis of information on the conservation and the sustainable use of coastal wetlands based on the awareness of local residents in Kang-hwa island, Tae-an and Seo-chon. The results are summarized as follows: The degree of the satisfaction on the natural environment is in the order of Tae-an, Kang-hwa and Seo-chon. This order is accorded with the order of the goodness of natural environment. The order for the degree of the satisfaction on the living environment is same as the order for the satisfaction degree on the natural environment. Especially, residents of Seo-chon are not satisfied with the living environment. The residents of all regions are not satisfied with the socio $.$ economic environment. The local resident of Kang-hwa and Tae-an, where natural environment is well-conserved, prefer conservation to development of the region. On the other hand, the local residents of Seo-chon have relatively low preference for conservation of the region. These results show the following consideration for the ideal method of management for the conservation and sustainable development of coastal wetlands. In case of Kang-hwa island, where the, condition the natural environment is well conserved, should be managed with the minimum development with maintenance of the current state must be driven.
Recent discussions about a minimum wage increase (MWI) and its influence on the economy have mainly focused on the quantitative aspects, such as labor costs and employment. However, concerning the qualitative aspects, an MWI could have positive effects by enhancing firm productivity and crowding out marginal firms from the market. These positive effects of an MWI can offset, to some extent, its potential negative effects - increasing labor costs and decreasing employment, among others. In this regard we empirically examine the impact of an MWI on firm productivity (total factor productivity). Using firm level panel data from the manufacturing industry in Korea, we calculate the influence rates of a minimum wage by sector and by firm size (number of workers), and analyze its effects on firm productivity. In particular, the production functions of the firms are estimated by taking into account endogeneity among the input factors, in order to resolve the drawbacks of existing studies - underestimating the capital factor coefficient and overestimating the labor factor coefficient. This study finds that the influences of an MWI on wages, employment, and productivity are substantially different across sectors and firm sizes. While an MWI has shown to have positive influences on productivity growth in the manufacturing industry as a whole, each sector demonstrates a different direction of effect, and the degree of productivity change also varies by sector. The impacts of an MWI on firm productivity are generally estimated to be more negative for smaller firms, but in some sectors the effects are found to be positive. In addition, the wage increases resulting from an MWI seem to cause a productivity enhancement across all sectors in the manufacturing industry. The policy implications of this study are as follows. Considering the empirical findings that an MWI causes an increase in productivity in many sectors of the manufacturing industry, it would be desirable to take into consideration not only the negative side effects but also the positive effects of an MWI when designing any future minimum wage policy. Moreover, in spite of there being a uniform minimum wage, this study finds that the diverse influence rates of a minimum wage across firms have different impacts on wages, employment, and productivity across sectors or firm size. This finding could be conducive to discussions about differentiation among minimum wage schemes by sector or firm size.
This study presents a reasonable and economical DCM reinforcement length for the various factors (the embankment height, the distance from the embankment to the underground structure, the depth of the soft ground, and the compression index and the swelling index of the soft ground) that affect the stability of the structure due to lateral movement. Based on these results, we analyzed each factor's degree of influence and figured out which factor influenced the lateral movement most. The cross section of the embankment on the soft ground was modeled by using the Finite Element Program and reinforced with DCM. The results show that the increase rate of the reinforcement length with the increase of the embankment height is about 9~50%, the increase rate of the reinforcement length with the depth of soft ground is about 13~30%, and the increase rate of the reinforcement length with increasing compression index is about 3~25%. In addition, the influence of each factor on each other was analyzed. As a result, among the separation distance, the compressive index and the maximum to minimum slope ratio of the reinforcement length of the embankment height, the separation distance was the largest for the depth of soft ground. As the depth of the soft ground increases, the ratio of the maximum to minimum slope of the reinforcement length according to the embankment height is 3.75, the ratio of the maximum to minimum slope of the reinforcement length according to the spacing distance is 4.3, and the ratio of maximum to minimum slope according to compression index is 2.5. From these results, it is confirmed that the three factors are greatly affected by the depth of soft ground.
