Reproductive Biology of the Pen Shell, Atrina(Servatrina) pectinata on the Boryeong Coastal Waters of Korea

  • The gonad index, condition index, reproductive cycle and spawning of the pen shell Atrina (Servatrina) pectinata were investigated using samples from the subtidal zone of Nokdo on the Boryeong coastal waters of Korea. Samples were collected monthly by SCUBA divers for one year from January to December, 2001. A. (Servatrina) pectinata is dioecious and oviparous. The spawning season of this species occurred once a year from June to August, with the main spawning occurring between June and July when the seawater temperature was around $20^{\circ}C$. Ripe oocytes were about 60-65 ${\mu}m$ in diameter. The reproductive cycle of this species could be classified into five successive stages; early active stage (November to March), late active stage (February to May), ripe stage (April to July), partially spawned stage (June to August), and spent/inactive stage (August to October). Monthly changes in the gonad index reached a maximum (4.6) in May (ripe stage), thereafter, the GI values gradually decreased from June to August when spawning occurred continuously. Therefore, monthly changes in the GI values showed a similar pattern to the gonadal phase. The condition index (CI) of the meat part without the posterior adductor muscle reached the maximum in June (ripe and partially spawned stage) and the minimum in September (spent/inactive stage), Accordingly, monthly changes in the condition indice of the meat part without the posterior adductor muscle coincided with the gonadal phases.

  • FHSS(Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum) 방식은 군 통신 시스템에서 재밍(Jamming)에 의한 간섭을 줄이기 위해 사용된다. 하지만 사용되는 변조 방식의 종류, 재밍 신호의 특성에 따른 위성 통신 시스템의 BER 성능이 무선 채널 상태에 따라 어떤 성능 차이를 보이는지 분석되지 않았다. 따라서 본 논문에서는 PBNJ(Partial-Band Noise Jamming)와 WPBJ(Worst case Partial-Band noise Jamming)의 두 가지 재밍 환경에서 NC-MFSK(Non-Coherent M-ary Frequeency-Shift Keying), SDPSK(Symmetric Differential Phase-Shift Keying), GMSK (Gaussian filtered Minimum-Shift Keying)의 세 가지 변조 방식에 따른 위성 통신 시스템의 BER 성능 변화를 분석한다. 또한, 분석된 결과를 이용하여 전송 환경에 따른 최적의 전송 방식을 제안하도록 한다.

열처리조건이 두 NASICON 조성의 소결 및 전기적특성에 미치는 영향 (Effects of Heat-treatment Condition on the Characteristics of Sintering and Electrical Behaviors of Two NASICON Compounds)

  • Effects of sintering temperature and time on the phase formation, the characteristics of sintering and electrical behaviors of NASICON compounds with Na3Zr2Si2PO12 and Na3.2Zr1.3Si2.2P0.8O10.5 compositions synthesized by solid state reaction were investigated. Maximum relative densities of 96% and 91% were obtained for Na3Zr2Si2PO12 and Na3.2Zr1.3Si2.2P0.8O10.5 compounds, respectively. Complex impedance analysis in a frequency range below 4 MHz was performed to measure the ionic conductivity and migration barrier height of the compounds at RT-30$0^{\circ}C$. The maximum ionic conductivity and the minimum migration barrier height were 0.45 ohm-1cm-1 and 0.07 eV, respectively. The migration barrier height of the high temperature form (space group : R3c) is about 30-40% of that of the low temperature form (space group : C2/c) in two NASICON compounds. Ionic conductivity increases with increasing sinterability, and the presence of glass phase in Na3.2Zr1.3Si2.2P0.8O10.5 compounds lowers significantly ionic conductivity at temperatures above 14$0^{\circ}C$.

Nonlinear Acoustic-Pressure Responses of Oxygen Droplet Flames Burning in Gaseous Hydrogen

  • A nonlinear acoustic instability of subcritical liquid-oxygen droplet flames burning in gaseous hydrogen environment are investigated numerically. Emphases are focused on the effects of finite-rate kinetics by employing a detailed hydrogen-oxygen chemistry and of the phase change of liquid oxygen. Results show that if nonlinear harmonic pressure oscillations are imposed, larger flame responses occur during the period that the pressure passes its temporal minimum, at which point flames are closer to extinction condition. Consequently, the flame response function, normalized during one cycle of pressure oscillation, increases nonlinearly with the amplitude of pressure perturbation. This nonlinear response behavior can be explained as a possible mechanism to produce the threshold phenomena for acoustic instability, often observed during rocket-engine tests.

바이모달 트램 곡선 선회폭에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Swept Path Width for the Bimodal Tram)

  • The train travels on the track and, thus, the rear wheels precisely follow the paths of the front wheels. On the contrary, in the vehicles running on the road like automobiles, buses and trucks, the front wheels try to drag the rear ones toward them and across the inside of the curve. Off-tracking is defined as the radial offset between the path of the centerline of the front axle and the path of the centerline of the following axle. In the case of the bimodal tram with AWS(all wheel steering), the off-tracking decrease but the rear swing-out values increase because of the rear steering at the reverse phase angle. Thus, in order to determine the swept path width, maximum road width at the minimum turning radius, off-tracking and swing-out should be considered for the bimodal tram. In this paper, trajectory simulations were carried out for the various condition such as front steering, front and rear steering and suppression of swing-out to optimize the swept path width.

교차로 방향별 차선공동이용 연구

  • Alternate use of lane at a signalized intersection is a quite different control of the operation of an intersection. This control introduces a new stop line and signal before the original stop line. All of the lanes between the two stop lines are used for left turn traffic or through traffic at a time. The purpose of the control is increasing the capacity of a n intersection without widening the approach width. this paper contains a study on the condition of a application, the proper distances between the two stop lines, the reasonable offsets(rear) to guarantee clearing the vehicles of previous phase, the comparison of approach capacity between the existing control and this control. The study results reveals that the offsets(rear) are rather stable showing the range(maximum value minus minimum value) of it's value does not exceed 3.6 seconds according to the field data. The approach capacity will be increased by 27%, 43%, 59%, 84% when the distances between the stop lines are 30.0m respectively. The control might have theoretical limitation to operate in practice. So an experimental application of the control at some suitable intersections prior to expanding it.

일반화된 적응법칙을 사용한 안정한 기준모델 적응제어 (A Stable Model Reference Adaptive Control with a Generalized Adaptive Law)

  • In this paper, a generalized adaptive law is proposed which uses a rational function type operator for parameter adjustment. To satisfy the passivity condition of the adaptation block, we introduce a constant feedback gain into the adaptation block. This adaptation scheme is applied to the model reference adaptive control of a continuous-time, linear time-invariant, minimum-phase system whose relative degree is 1. We prove the asymptotic stability of the output error of this adaptive system by hyperstability method. It is shown that by digital computer simulations this law can give a better output error transient response in some cases than the conventional gradient adaptive law. And the output error responses for the several types of the proposed adaptation law are examined in the presence of a kind of unmodeled dynamics.

  • The objective of this investigation is to find effects of the pulsatile flow on the morphological changes of the endothelial cell(E.C.) in blood vessel. The shear flow experiment system is used to get the morphological changes of the E.C. The shapes of E.C. are simulated by the cosine curves and computer simulation is used to calculate the pressure and shear stress fields on the E.C. The inlet boundary condition is given from the measured velocity data of femoral artery. The endothelial cells reduce their heights in the flow field so as to reduce the pressure and wall shear stress on the surface. As the exposed time increases, the shear stress and pressure on the E.C. are reduced under the pulsatile flow. The shear stresses on the cell surface show the minimum values during the deceleration phase.

A Guidance Law with a Switching Logic for Maintaining Seeker's Lock-on for Stationary Targets

  • Modem anti-ship missiles employ complex and sophisticated guidance laws to hit the target and enhance their survivability by executing additional maneuvers. However, such maneuvers may cause the target to move out of the missile seeker's Field-Of-View (FOV). Maintaining seeker lock-on during an engagement is a critical factor for missile guidance. In this paper, a guidance law switching logic that maintains seeker lock-on and a simple guidance law that keeps the target look angle of the seeker constant is proposed. The proposed method can be used for the terminal homing phase, and can be switched from any kind of guidance laws if a proper switching condition is satisfied. The minimum and maximum flight time calculation method in consideration of the missile maneuver limit and the FOV of the seeker is also provided.

단결정 성장을 위한 수직형 LPE 장치의 제작 (The Development of Fertical type LPE System for Single Crystal Growth)

  • In this study, the vertical type LPE system has been developed by fully hand-made. The temperature fluctuation and minimum cooling rate of this LPE system are within $\pm$0.05$^{\circ}C$ and 0.15$^{\circ}C$/min, respectively. It is considered that these properties are enough to grow III-V semiconductor compounds single crystals by liquid phase epitaxy method. Futhermore in this study. 1.3${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ GaInAsP/InP single crystal growing has been carried out by this system. It has been obtained that the growing rate was about 0.72${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$/min for InP binary layer and 0.36${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$/min for GaInAsP quarternary layer under 0.6$^{\circ}C$/min cooling rate condition.
