A hydraulic system is difficult to keep the performance due to non-linearity, load pressure which changes according to working condition and system parameter variation, the requirement of control algorithm has been risen in order to satisfy them. An adaptive control is a control method which is suggested to achieve a control object though plant characteristics change. In spite of the case that plant characteristics and the degree of variation are difficult to grasp, adaptive control can keep the characteristics of closed-loop system regularly. In this study GMVAC(generalized minimum variance adaptive control) combined with output error feedback is proposed in order to solve problems of non-minimum phase, vibration and overshoot in initial response of the plant. The control performance according to the variation of characteristics of the plant is evaluated by changing the supply pressure only.

This study assesses groundwater vulnerability to contaminants in 12 administrative districts of the city of Changwon, using DRASTIC technique. DRASTIC was originally applied to situations in which the contamination sources are at the ground surface, and the contaminants flow into the groundwater with infiltration of rainfall. However, groundwater contamination in urban areas can also be related to excessive pumping resulting in a lowering of the water level. The correlation coefficient between minimum DRASTIC indices and the degree of poor water quality for 10 districts is low as 0.40. The correlation coefficients between minimum DRASTIC indices and the groundwater discharge rate, and between minimum DRASTIC indices and well density per unit area are 0.70 and 0.87, respectively. Thus, to evaluate the potential of groundwater contamination in urban areas, it is necessary to consider other factors such as groundwater withdrawal rate and well density per unit area with ratings and weights as well as the existing six DRASTIC factors.

For fast Cholesky factorization, it is most important to reduce the number of non-zero elements by ordering methods. Minimum deficiency ordering produces less non-zero elements. However, since it is very slow. the minimum degree algorithm is widely used. To improve the computation time, Rothberg's AMF uses an approximate deficiency instead of computing the deficiency. In this paper we present simple efficient methods to obtain a good approximate deficiency using information related to cliques. Experimental results show that our proposed method produces better ordering quality than that of AMF.

In reverse engineering (RE) sustems, the quality of the data aquisition process is crucial to the accuracy of the reverse engineered three dimensional computer-aided design (CAD) model. However, these tasks are predominantly done manually, and little work has been done to improve the efficiency of scanning by determining the minimum number of scans and the optimal scanning directions. In this paper, new scanning and registration methods using tooling balls are developed to assist in determining the optimal parameter for these processes. When the object to scanned has no concavity, attaching path of the object and its bounding rectangle are used for optimal scanning and registration. Then minimum number of tooling balls and their positions are calculated automatically. In the case of concave parts, the scanning plan should include a complete scan of the concave area. With the surface normal vector and the scanning direction, the minimum degree of rotating the part can be calculated. But the maximum rotation should be restricted in order to prevent occlusion of the part. Finally tow sample part ar scanned based on the proposed methods and the results are discussed.

We investigate a systematic design procedure of automatic rule generation of fuzzy logic based controllers for highly nonlinear dynamic systems such as an engine dynamic modle. By "automatic rule generation" we mean autonomous clustering or collection of such meaningful transitional relations from one conditional subspace to another. During the design procedure, we also consider optimaly control strategies such as minimum squared error, near minimum time, minimum energy or combined performance critiera. Fuzzy feedback control systems designed by our method have the properties of closed-loop stability, robustness under parameter variabitions, and a certain degree of optimality. Most of all, the main advantage of the proposed approach is that reliability can be potentially increased even if a large grain of uncertainty is involved within the control system under consideration. A numerical example is shown in which we apply our strategic fuzzy controller dwsign to a highly nonlinear model of engine idling speed control.d control.

This paper proposes a O(E) polynomial-time algorithm that has been devised to simultaneously solve edge-coloring problem and graph classification problem both of which remain NP-complete. The proposed algorithm selects an edge connecting maximum and minimum degree vertices so as to determine the number of edge coloring ${\chi}^{\prime}(G)$. Determined ${\chi}^{\prime}(G)$ is in turn either ${\Delta}(G)$ or ${\Delta}(G)+1$. Eventually, the result could be classified as class 1 if ${\chi}^{\prime}(G)={\Delta}(G)$ and as category 2 if ${\chi}^{\prime}(G)={\Delta}(G)+1$. This paper also proves Vizing's planar graph conjecture, which states that 'all simple, planar graphs with maximum degree six or seven are of class one, closing the remaining possible case', which has known to be NP-complete.
In order to find the degree of osseointegration at bone-implant interface of clinically successful implants, models including the 3.75mm wide, 10mm long screw type $Br{\aa}nemark$ implant as a standard and cylinder, 15mm long, 5.0mm wide, two splinted implants, and implants installed in various cancellous bone density were designed. Also, the amount of load and material of prostheses were changed. The stress and minimum contact fraction were analyzed on each model using three-dimensional finite element method(I-DEAS and ABAQUS version 5.5). The results of this study were as follows. 1. 10mm long, 3.75mm diameter-screw type implant had $36.5{\sim}43.7%$ of minimum contact fraction. 2. Cylinder type implant showed inferior stress distribution and higher minimum contact fraction than screw type. 3. As implant length was increased, minimum contact fraction was increased a little, however, maximum principal stress was decreased. 4. Implants with a large diameter had lower stress value with slightly higher minimum contact fraction than standard screw type. 5. Two splinted implants showed no change of minimum contact fraction. 6. The higher bone density, the lower stress value. 7. The material of occlusal surface had no effect on the stress of the bone-implant interface.

The study investigates the association between CEO education and firm performance with a sample of 85 nonfinancial firms listed on the Saudi stock exchange during 2018 applying ordinary least squares method. CEO education is defined by three variables, the level of education, if the degree-granting institution is domestic or foreign, and if the highest degree is in management or other fields of study. Financial performance is measured by return on assets and return on equity. Firm size, age, liquidity and growth are introduced as control variables. The study shows that 58 CEOs of the firms studied are graduates, 38 have obtained their degree from a domestic institution and 44 have a management degree. Graduate CEOs are found to enhance performance. Graduating from a domestic institution influences performance positively. Management degree of CEO does not seem to impact performance. Firm size, liquidity and growth are positively associated with performance. Firm age does not explain performance differences of firms. Results are robust to performance measures. The findings of the study suggest that firms can benefit from a CEO hiring policy that emphasizes on the minimum qualification set as graduation or higher, education from a domestic institution and no undue weight on management qualification.
It is well known that a random graph $G_{1/2}(n)$ is Hamiltonian almost surely. In this paper, we show that every quasirandom graph $G(n)$ with minimum degree $(1+o(1))n/2$ is also Hamiltonian.
