사회 연결망 분석을 활용한 무기체계 안전사고 동향 분석 (Analysis of Trends for Weapon System Accidents Using Social Network Analysis)

  • Since military weapon accidents or breakdowns are directly linked to enormous damage, it is important to analyze the causes of weapons system accidents. Recently, in the defense sector, there have been cases in which budget has been saved through analysis of the causes of frequent breakdowns and improvement activities that have occurred in the process of operating weapon systems since 2015. But due to the nature of the defense sector, it is not easy to collect data and studies on weapons system accidents have been insufficient so far. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the causes and types of military weapon accidents by collecting military weapon accident data for military weapon systems and analyzing trends by weapon system classification through the analysis process. It analyzes statistically and visually through social network analysis, NodeXL. It is expected that this study will help improve the stability of the weapon system by reducing the number of military weapon accidents and failures.

  • This article is focusing on the improvement of weapon system test & evaluation, aimed at the weapon system in the research development stage. This article suggests improvement directions in three aspects(organization and system, skilled manpower and technology, test facilities of weapon system test & evaluation) as follows. 1) Weapon system test & evaluation organization and system a. Establishment of comprehensive test & evaluation system b. Making regulation for comprehensive test infrastructure management. c. Standardization of test & evaluation process, which can be used in special subject to army, navy and air force. 2) Skilled manpower and technology of weapon system test & evaluation a. Training & education, management of test & evaluation experts. b. Establishment of skill management system of test & evaluation. 3) Test facilities of weapon system test & evaluation a. Establishment of comprehensive improvement direction of test & evaluation installation and equipment. b. Consideration of counter measures to prevent overlapping investment, and to use the test & evaluation resources efficiently. c. Establishment of organic network for the effective use of test & evaluation installation and equipment. d. Establishment of detailed cooperation plan for the commonage of test & evaluation facility and equipment.

  • This research deals with the weapon system RAM which is the reliability, availability and maintainability for weapon systems. This weapon system RAM is one of very important factors because it is related to the life cycle cost and combat readiness of weapon systems. Therefore, in this research we introduce the weapon system RAM and analyze the problems of weapon system RAM management during system life cycle including acquisition period. Finally we suggest an alternative to improve the weapon system RAM in various agencies which are the department of defense and army headquarter level, etc., in the process of defense acquisition.

  • In next war, it will be expected that some requirement such as information acquisition, battlefield surveillance and control, increased power projection, precision attack by guided missile and electronic warfare may have special importance. The use of robot weapon system by Airforce will make up for some weak points of man based weapon system that Airforce currently has. And Airforce man/robot combined air vehicle weapon system can extend military operational theater and give its flexibility in next war where power, mobility and information should be all-in-one for military purpose.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a design method for standardization of weapon information exchange between a weapon control computer of guided missile system and a high echelon command and control system. Because the weapon control computer based on diverse combat platforms is operated with several kinds of a high echelon system, it is necessary to provide a standardized design method for weapon information exchange between mutual system. In fact, it is possible to standardize a interface design specification of weapon information message because weapon information message is closely related to standard tactical data link message. It is essential that the interface design specification of weapon information is submitted to that of tactical data link information. It seems that this interface design specification is very useful in development process of the future weapon system.

For the mission of a ship, naval combat system manages features and constraints of each weapon system.   • The concept of Holon was suggested by A. Koestler in his paper(1967) "The Ghost in the Machine." It became one of the central concept of the Intelligent Manufacturing System. In this paper, a new system concept: Holonic Weapon System was introduced. HWS has the advantages of the holonic system and the system integration technique so that the future unmanned combat system should consider this concept.

  • Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) is a management and technical process whereby all the diverse elements needed to fully operate, maintain, and totally support a materiel system in the field are identified, developed, and deployed simultaneously and on an equal priority with the item of materiel being supported. The test and evaluation (T&E)of ILS act the important role of reduction of life-cycle cost and keeping of good performance for weapon system. In this article, we suggest the alternatives for improvement in the test and evaluation of ILS during weapon system acquisition. It is hoped that this research is valuable and beneficial to persons related weapon system acquisition, in order to maximize the efficiency of defense acquisition management by reducing the life-cycle cost and enhancing the quality of weapon system.

흡수 마코프체인을 활용한 함정 근접무기체계 효과성 분석 (An Analysis on the Performance of the Close-In-Weapon-System Using Absorbing Markov Chains)

  • Since the technology of anti-ship missiles has advanced rapidly, defending battleships from the threat of anti-ship missiles is a crucial factor for the survival of warships. In this paper, we analyze the performance of an anti-ship missile defense system whose name is Close-In-Weapon-System. We show the survival probability of a warship equipped with the Close-In-Weapon-System as the number of anti-ship missiles attacking the warship varies. Because of the complex and dynamic operational characteristics surrounding the Close-In-Weapon-System such as speed of missiles, different range of an individual weapon in the weapon system, and the continuous change of the kill probability of the missiles corresponding to the distance of missiles from ships, few work has been done for the performance of Close-In-Weapon-System. We present a model to incorporate all the dynamic characteristics of the system using absorbing Markov Chain. With our results, we expect commanders of warships equipped with Close-In-Weapon-System to be provided with more helpful information on how to deal with the anti-ship missiles.

무기체계개발을 위한 문서화체계 적용 사례 연구 (A Study on the Documentation Case for Weapon System Development)

  • In this paper, we propose a documentation case(before DAPA establishment) for weapon system development that defines development phases, documents which must be produced as a result of development, and relationship between those documents. To develop the documentation system, US DOD Standard, US Military Standard, and instructions of ROK MND are presented and analyzed in the point of standardizing documents. As a result, development phases and document case which is related to those phases are presented for weapon system development.
