A Study on the Propagation and Attenuation Properties of the Military Construction Equipments Noise (군(軍) 건설장비 소음의 전달 및 감쇠특성에 관한 연구)

  • In case of the construction equipment using by the military camp, such equipments are different from those equipments using at general construction site, of which muffler(silencer) is attached at the passenger seat side, since such equipments are obsoleted, it is great part that a considerably loud noises are continuously diffusing. When working, such noise can be influenced a lot of effects to those working soldiers nearby the equipment, and though it is really terrible loud noise as much as can arise a civil complaints by neighboring civilians, but because its specialty of the military, it is real state that there are many difficulties in establishing an effective soundproof countermeasure due to study shortage and lack of the relevant material regarding to military construction equipment. Accordingly, this study has ever grasped the characteristics of noise by its each frequencies and by distances about those 9 kinds of construction equipments using chiefly by the military camp. As the result, it was known that the military construction equipment is generating the loud noise which can influence bad effect to the workers, and such high sound pressure level of low frequency band can harm even to far distance.

  • In this paper, the study was conducted on the subject of the hybrid electric vehicles used by the military, and optimized the propulsion system for fuel economy considering energy supply to the mission equipments. For the analysis of the vehicles, a method based on the geometry and some assumptions was applied with basic vehicle dynamics. The sources of energy supply in the military hybrid electric vehicles are an engine, a battery and an ultra-capacitor. The optimal operation point among an engine, a battery and an ultra-capacitor can be found by minimizing energy consumption of driving power train and mission equipments. In the study, it was possible to find the optimal propulsion system by comparing fuel efficiency of the vehicles during the driving cycle.

  • Failure of essential avionic equipments have a significant impact on the operations and safety of P-3 maritime patrol aircraft. Therefore, avionic equipments of P-3 are required to have higher reliability. Based on the field failure data, this paper studies the reliability growth of essential avionic equipments in P-3 using Duane model. Additionally, a simulation model is built and implemented for identifying the operational availability according to the field failure data of avionic equipments.

  • Naval equipments are installed and used for naval vessel with different environmental conditions comparing to the commercial vessel, for example, high engine power per ship displacement size, severe vibration and shock due to high running speed and explosion from naval gun's bombardment and underwater weapons. Therefore, those equipments must be installed on shipboard with small spaces, high ambient temperature around engine room and which are required be fabricated with high resistances of vibration, shock and heat resources. But in case of commercial vessel, the performances of their recent equipments naval have been improved continuously due to the technology development of domestic shipbuilding and shipboard equipment industries, together with the related fundamental industries i.e, metal, steel and electronic industries, to an international level since 1970. With these results, it became possible to unify the specifications of shipboard equipments for the commercial and military vessels(Dual-Use). In this study, vibration and shock test standards for the commercial and military vessels will be compared and reviewed technically.

A Frequency Resource Assignment Algorithm for FH Radio Using Isotropic Multi Dimension Array (등방 다차원 배열을 이용한 FH 무전기용 주파수 자원 할당 알고리즘)

  • To reduce the interferences between the radio equipments which are operated in frequency hopping mode, the frequency resource should be assigned to each equipment without overlapping when several groups of radio equipments operate in the same area. If the radio equipments are in a different area, the partial frequency overlaying can be permitted. From the isotropic multi-dimensional array, several frequency assignment tables can be extracted for a same area. Also several tables can be extracted for different areas. Since there can be no overlapped frequencies between the tables for the same area, no interference between the radio equipments in an area is guaranteed. The frequencies overlapped between 2 tables for 2 different areas are pre-planed as required. The interference performance in frequency hopping radio can be controlled as desired using the proposed Frequency Resource Assignment Algorithm using Isotropic multi-dimensional Array.

  • This paper deals with (s, S) spare part inventory model. Maintaining appropriate spare parts is one of the most important military affairs related to the readiness of military forces. In the problem under consideration, a military unit possesses n equipments and all the n equipments should be in operational readiness for the military purpose. The lifetime distribution of a part has been assumed to be exponential. This paper suggests the reorder point and order quantity under the assumption that the lifetime distribution of a part is weibull.

  • Electronic equipments and a missile carried by heavy trucks are often subjected to vibration and shock excitation during their transportation. Electronic equipments are so vulnerable to vibration and shock input that it is necessary to know in advance the vibration level of the truck which cause the damage of equipments. Road tests of a heavy truck carrying a canister on different road conditions such as paved road, unpaved road, and washboard are performed and the effect of road conditions on the vibration characteristics are analyzed. Vibration levels were measured at various locations of the truck along the path through which vibration was transmitted. This study reveals that the velocity of the truck as well as the road surface conditions are main factors which affect the vibration levels of the truck. The power spectrum density of the measured vibration signal and the factors affecting the PSD are also analyzed in this paper.

Airborne radio communications, navigation, and identification equipments are characterized by user's many quantitative and qualitative requirements. These equipment look like simple test and evaluation, but they have many complex factors.   • As more advanced and complicated equipments are introduced, effective operation and maintenance, along with acquisition of the equipments, commands more significance lately. In order to perform effective depot maintenance, the Republic of Korea Army is continually developing the concept, cycle and method for operating the depot maintenance. Not only the high-cost testing and maintenance equipments but the highly developed maintenance technologies are required for the depot maintenance of the latest weapon system. In order to have the depot maintenance capability, this paper provides the standard and procedure for estimating the development cost of the depot maintenance elements to be utilized in the depot maintenance elements development project.

  • In aerospace industry, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure) and MFTBF (Mean Flight Time Between Failure) are generally used for reliability analysis. So far, especially to Korean military aircraft, MFTBF of avionic equipments is predicted by MIL-HDBK-217 and MIL-HDBK-338, however, the predicted MFTBF by military standard has a wide discrepancy to that of real-world operation, which leads to overstock and increase operation cost. This study analyzes operational data of avionic equipments. Operational MFTBF, which is calculated from operational data, is compared with predicted MFTBF calculated conventionally by military standard. In addition, failure rate trend is investigated to verify reliability growth in operational data, the investigation shows that failure rate curve from operational data has somewhat pattern with decreased failure rate and constant failure rate.
