항공기 외장형.전자전 방향탐지장치 개발 (The Development of an airbone-based direction-finding system for EW application)

  • An airborne-based Direction-Finding System is developed for the application of ELINT and ES(Electronic Support). The system takes the phase-comparison technology, and has the configuration of multi-based antenna array for the solution of ambiguity due to the increased Direction-Finding resolution. This thesis describes the design of optimized distances among antennas, the electrical characteristics, the method of compensation, the direction-finding accuracy, and et. al. under the condition of the airborne-based environment.

  • The INM simulation program is used to estimate the condition of the exposed area to the noise near a military airport in Korea. $WECPNL_k$, the evaluation unit of korean airport noise, is different from the ICAO $WECPNL_I$ that is used in the simulation program. Therefore, it is inappropriate to compare these units each other directly. This study presents method of comparison between them by using $LA_{MAX}$. The aircraft events are classified into three classes, as departure, overfly and approach. In result, the measurement and simulation seemed to be similar at departure and approach pattern. However, overfly pattern had higher errors between measurement and simulation. Finally, it is necessary to examine the method to determine flight events and duration for the $WECPNL_k$ application.

Recent Developments Involving the Application of Infrared Thermal Imaging in Agriculture

  • The conversion of an invisible thermal radiation pattern of an object into a visible image using infrared (IR) thermal technology is very useful to understand phenomena what we are interested in. Although IR thermal images were originally developed for military and space applications, they are currently employed to determine thermal properties and heat features in various applications, such as the non-destructive evaluation of industrial equipment, power plants, electricity, military or drive-assisted night vision, and medical applications to monitor heat generation or loss. Recently, IR imaging-based monitoring systems have been considered for application in agricultural, including crop care, plant-disease detection, bruise detection of fruits, and the evaluation of fruit maturity. This paper reviews recent progress in the development of IR thermal imaging techniques and suggests possible applications of thermal imaging techniques in agriculture.

공기부양상륙정의 개념설계를 위한 전투중량 대안분석 연구 (A Study on the Trade-off Analysis of Combat Weight for Conceptual design of a Landing Craft Air Cushion)

  • The purpose of this study is to develop and illustrate methods of applying trade-off techniques to landing craft air cushion design evaluation. The problem areas of concern are the application of quantitative analytical methods to conceptual design. The interrelationships between composite system measures and selected performance requirements(speed, cruising range, cargo etc.) are analyzed and the expressions for gross weight are developed as functions of performance parameters. Trade-offs of performance parameters in terms of weight are then calculated. The application of these results to evaluation of Require Operational Capabilities are illustrated.

군단급 간이분석 워게임모형을 이용한 군단 및 사단 작전분석 방안 연구 (A Study on Corps / Division Operation Analysis Using Simplified Corps Level Wargame Model)

  • Many different kinds of wargame models have been developed and used in training and analysis purpose. However, there has been few wargame model which analyze corps or division level operational analysis. Recently KIDA develops corps level operational analysis model based on START(simplified tool for analysis of regional treats) model developed by RAND. This model runs in a PC level with 2MB memory and provides one day combat results within 30 seconds. Only one or three person can operate this model and evaluate multiple corps level operational analysis including chemical effects, $C^3I$ capacity, new weapon system effectiveness and other qualitative effects. We tested this model and evaluated input and output data. We showed that this model can be applied in division level operational analysis also. As an example division level application procedure and sensitivity analysis data was provided. We also find some limitation and problems in the model and suggest application areas and improving methods.

  • Military camps deal with various types of explosives. For instance, military engineering unit conducts education and training for laying landmines. However, in case of land mine craters installed with regular-level RC, structural safety may be in danger thus there is a necessity to utilize High Performance Fiber-Reinforced Cement Composites (HPFRCC), which has high functionality in protection and blast resistance. Therefore, in this research we conducted an field application of land mine crater of HPFRCC, using the existing optimal fiber mixing ratio and ERCO addition ratio.

  • Purpose: A Study on the application of quality management system specification to production validation and audit in military airworthiness certification. Methods: Aircraft quality management system specification for quality assurance and production validation and audit requirements were examined to verify. Also, the system for domestic and foreign production certification were investigated. Results: Production validation and audit criteria for military aircraft by applying methods suggested Aircraft Certifications Systems Evaluation Program(ACSEP). ACSEP evaluation of the items, some items were complementary and not applied. Conclusion: As a way to ensure the safety of aircraft, confirm the correction of Production validation & audit criteria and rulemaking is necessary and how to manage for Critical Safety Item(CSI) is a need to improve.

미사일 모델의 피치 동안정미계수 측정을 위한 강제진동기법의 적용 (Application of Forced Oscillation Technique for Pitch Dynamic Stability Derivatives of a Missile Model)

  • This paper presents an application of forced oscillation technique to measure pitch dynamic stability derivatives of a missile model in the low speed wind tunnel. The missile model is oscillated by D.C. electric servomotor with constant amplitudes and frequencies. Phase shift is determined as the difference of peak values between input and output signals from the dynamic stability balance installed at the center of gravity of the model. Stability derivatives were calculated by using phase shifts, amplitudes, forcing moments and input frequencies. Test results show the proper usage of the force oscillation technique with good damping effects.

  • Recently, request far application of advanced commercial technology to the defense acquisition process, to reduce the budget and shorten development time, has been increased. To accomplish these goals, the Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration(ACTD) is used for the defense acquisition process in Korea. And User Utility Assessment is tested to make a decision for transition to acquisition process. But this process does not include measurement of technology maturity and impacts of interface and interaction among the technologies. In this research, we propose the needs of measurement of TRL and IRL and application of SRL to reduce the risk during development phase, to understand the relations of technologies, and to fulfill the requirement far transition of the ACTD project to system development and demonstration process.

고해상도 SAR 영상의 활용기술 동향분석 (Investigation of Applications Technology for High Resolution SAR Images)

  • SAR(Synthetic Aperture Radar) has characteristics well-suited for the measurement of geophysical parameters during day and night in all weather conditions. Recently, SAR data with high resolution acquired by satellites became available to the public. In such data, many features and phenomena of geometric structure of man-made objects and natural environments become observable. In this paper, we discuss main considerations including geometric distortion and coregistration for efficient utilization of high resolution SAR images. And, various advanced technologies in SAR application fields are introduced.
