  • After artificial intelligence was trained with the data on the concentration of essential mineral elements in hair, the age was predicted by the concentration of mineral elements in the hair of the subject, and the result was compared with the actual age of the subject, and the correlation was investigated. The total number of hair data was 296, of which 2/3 were used for AI learning and 1/3 was used as the subject data. There was a correlation of 0. 678 between the actual age of the young subjects under the age of 25 and the age predicted by the AI. There was almost no correlation in the middle-aged subjects group, and there was a weak correlation of 0.522 in the elderly subject group. In order to secure the usefulness of artificial intelligence using hair mineral element concentration data, it is necessary to provide a larger number of data to the artificial intelligence.

  • Spontanous hematoma of the esophagus is a rare condition affecting middle aged or elderly women. We experienced one case of esophageal hematoma which attracted our attention due to its confusing presentation clinically. The pathogenesis has been in dispute so far. The diagnosis has traditionally been made by barium esophagogram. We proved the diagnosis of spontaneous hematoma of the esophagus by utilizing CT scan and MRI. This condition led to conservative treatment and full recovery ultimately, but we performed the surgical correction because the filling defect persisted and the dysphagia got worse on the 20th day of hospital stay. Hematoma was located between the inner layer of circular muscle and the outer layer of longitudinal muscle which we considered as intermuscular hematoma of the esophagus.

  • Four cases of human infection by Echinochasmus japonicus (Trematoda; Echinostomatidae) were proven by the recovery of adult worms after a treatment with praziquantel (10mg/kg in single dose) and purgation in February 1984 in Korea. The patients were 3 middle-aged men and 1 elderly woman residing in a riverside village of Kangjin-gun (Tamjin river), Jeonranam-do, an ever-known endemic area of metagonimiasis. The treatment revealed numerous M. yokogawai worms together with 1-43 (total 54) specimens of E. japonicus and/or a few number of other kinds of trematodes or cestodes. The patients had gastrointestinal troubles such as indigestion and abdominal discomfort, probably due to these fluke infections. They have been eating some raw flesh of fresh water fishes such as cyprinoid ones or sweet fish caught from the river. This is the first record of human E. japonicus infection in the literature.

  • The aesthetic appearance of the incisors is essential for a natural and healthy smile, and it is also an important factor for confidence in interpersonal relationships. If there is crowding or protrusion of the anterior teeth, root canal treatment and excessive tooth removal are often required to resolve it in a short period of time. However, it is difficult to achieve sustainable aesthetic results. In this case, orthodontic treatment will be necessary to preserve the remaining tooth structure as much as possible. Middle-aged and elderly patients are often aware of the need for orthodontic treatment, but they are hesitant to use the traditional orthodontic treatment method using brackets because of the social gaze. In this case, clear aligners can be a good option. So, in this article, a case in which aesthetic needs were resolved with clear aligners alone and another case in which satisfactory results were obtained through restorative treatment following clear aligners application are reported.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the trends of research themes of the Korean dance in recent 20 years using text mining. The study has analyzed 3,047 words in 1,468 academic papers posted in the Research & Information Services Section(RISS). TEXTOM, a big data analysis solution, has been used to refine and analyse data, and the keyword analysis and topic modeling have been adopted during the text-mining process to come up with meaningful results. First, the theme of studies has shifted from the structure of the basic Korean dance moves to the use and transmission of the Korean dance. Second, those who participate in studies of the Korean dance have changed from middle-aged women to elderly women. Third, studies on dance records have been inactivated. Fourth, studies on Choi Seung-hee have consistently been a subject of interest. Fifth, the focus of studies has turned from the Korean creative dance to the Korean traditional dance. Sixth, there are no iconic research themes that would lead the academic trends with no clear boundaries of research themes.

  • The proportion of single-person households has been steadily increasing, and the young account for the highest proportion at 35.9% among all single-person households. However, research on young single-person households has been relatively recent. Research on single-person households has mostly focused on all single-person households or elderly single-person households, and comparative research between different age groups is lacking. Therefore, this study categorizes all single-person households into young, middle-aged, and elderly groups to investigate the differences in the factors that affect their residential satisfaction and to analyze how these residential environment factors affect life satisfaction through the mediating effect of residential satisfaction. The 2020 Seoul Survey Urban Policy Index Survey data were analyzed using a structural equation model to investigate the impact of each factor. First, a finding is that various residential environment factors directly affect residential satisfaction and life satisfaction. Next, it was found that residential satisfaction directly affects life satisfaction in the models of young and middle-aged single-person households. Through this, it was confirmed that there are differences in residential environment factors that affect residential satisfaction and that residential satisfaction plays an important mediating role. Finally, it was found that the factors that affect the residential and life satisfaction of young single-person households are more diverse compared to other age groups. This study provides policy implications that age group differences should be considered first in order to improve the residential and life satisfaction of single-person households. In particular, for young single-person households, it is necessary to consider more diverse alternatives to improve their residential and life satisfaction.

  • This study aims to overcome the limitations of prior studies that have failed to take into account the impact of psycho-social factors on the employment of people with disabilities as well as the differences in employment by life stage. This study employs a research model that includes psycho-social factors along with human capital to examine how the determinants of employment differ for the disabled by life stage. The analysis in this study takes the form of logistic regression, using data from the fifth wave of the Korea Welfare Panel Survey. Analysis results show that the employment probability of young people with disabilities is significantly associated with their experience of discrimination, with their chance of employment decreasing when they have more experience of discrimination. Middle-aged people with disabilities are more likely to be employed when they have a lower level of education, a better health condition and a higher level of labor ability. For the disabled elderly, their labor ability is the only factor affecting their possibility of employment; they have a higher chance of getting a job when they have a higher level of labor ability.

  • This study aims to identify forecasting factors of baby boomer's social participation desire. For this purpose, I utilized Hyun-Jung Kang(2012)'s data whose 1,115 sample were collected based on residential area and gender. The major findings are as follows; First, 77.7% of baby boomers are actually participating in economic activities. 27.0% in volunteering activities and 79.3% in leisure activities. 80.9% of baby boomers have intention to participate in economic activities after retirement, 76.7% in volunteering activities after retirement and 82.2% in leisure activities after retirement. Second, looking at the relationship between current social activity participation and intention to participate after retirement, those who are currently having social activities turn out to have higher intention to participate social activities after retirement. Those who wish to participate in social activities, although they don't participate in social activities currently, turn out to be 55.8% for economic activities, 70.6% for volunteering activities and 66.5% for leisure activities. Third, whether they are currently participating in social activities turns out to be most compelling forecasting factor for the desire on social participation after retirement. These results were discussed in terms of the continuity theory. and proposed that you need from the preparation of Middle - aged to activate the participation of important social variables known as old age life satisfaction.
