The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of school library personnel on students' reading behaviors and to identify differences between schools on it. For this purpose, this study surveyed 5,349 elementary, middle and high school students from 154 schools across Korea, and conducted a survey on reading environment, school library, and DLS. The results of the analysis showed that the students at the school where teacher librarians works are more likely to read books, participate in various reading programs, receive more help from teacher librarians in selecting books to read, lending more books, have more experience with DLS and satisfaction with it. The differences between the schools were in the order of 'classes which school library personnel took part in,' 'number of borrowed books,' 'help in selecting books,' 'average reading time per day,' 'number of home books,' 'reading in school library.' Therefore, it is necessary to expand the placement of school library personnel and develop their professionalism in order to prevent inequality in the educational environment between schools.

The purpose of this study is to present the need of developing reading education programs for preventing school violence that reading education program has on teenagers' attitude, awareness and empathy of school violence. According to the analysis results is as follows. First, Reading education program influenced on the attitude of the school violence. They had a meaningful effect about the sub-factor of the school violence permissive, attitude for the victim and attacker. Second, Reading education program had an influence on empathy ability. They had a meaningful effect about the sub-factor of the empathy ability take view point, empathic concern, individual anguish and imaging.

This is a study on types and current status of school library in japan that are open to public. it aims to increase library access and further improvement of accessible information environment by opening the libraries within schools. In case of Japan, libraries' importance to school education enacted world's first School library act by 1953 and installation rate of school libraries is achieved up to 100%. These libraries opened to its local community is in the process of increasing library usage and now in total of 11.6% of lower, middle, and upper school are already opened to their local community. Considering decreasing usage of facilities in schools, teacher vacant time, expanding libraries, and other various alternatives should be considered together. It will lead to equal access to information environment and lifelong education. The study suggests ways of installing school libraries in appropriate sizes and forms within their local societies. It also propose possible ways to open school libraries to perform their own functions.

DLS(Digital Library System) have been established by Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development for providing the application services to each school library managers(teacher librarian) and front end users such as students and teachers. DLS's are separately operated by 15 major metropolitan or provincial office of education to cover all elementary, middle and high schools in Korea. There is a necessity which it will analyze the current status of DLS because it's system after starting a service 2 years passed. This study suggested to improvements strategies of DLS by survey from teacher librarian, subject teacher, students of 308 schools.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the benefits of library assisted instruction. A survey was conducted along with in-depth interview with students who have experienced library assisted instructions. As a result, 18 different domains of benefits of library assisted instruction have been identified through the students with the experience of the instruction. The benefits include 'increasing efficiency in learning', 'building the habits of reading', etc. The benefits of library assisted instruction are expected to be applied in the strategies to operation of library service.

The purpose of this study is investigate the level of awareness and interest of middle and high school students on performance evaluation book list, and regarding the correlation analysis of general satisfaction and academic achievement. For this purpose, each of the two middle schools and high schools in Seoul were selected, a total of 200 people were surveyed for each 50 students in each gender and grade. Research results, First, the analysis of gender and school level showed that there were differences in level of interest in performance evaluation books. Second, the analysis of differences in the level of interest in the list of performance evaluation books showed that students interested in the list of performance evaluation books spend more time evaluating performance. Third, the analysis of differences in level of awareness in the list of performance evaluation books showed that the relationship between knowledge acquisition and academic achievement was high depending on whether they were ware. There was also a significant relationship between selection criteria and general satisfaction.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the principles of school library media center program and to finds out present level and future outlook of the program implementation in primary and middle school. The fundamental objective of school is learning and school library functions as a link to support this objective. Therefore quality of education must always be linked to the library media programs. A questionaire which consists of 13 questions covering school library media center operation was designed to final out how learning-teaching media program is being practiced in Korea. Based on this study, it is concluded that there is significant difference between present practice level and desired future-oriented practice. It is hoped that this study will help planners in formulating school library policy to achieve educational goal of the school.

This study aims to understand students' perceptions of the spatial characteristics of school libraries when they use them for reading. We selected a set of spatial characteristics by reviewing the literature and conducting a preliminary investigation. Then, we examined how students perceived the importance of and how satisfied they were with each characteristic. In addition, we investigated how students' perceptions differ by the library uses and reading-related activities. We also studied whether the satisfaction of school library users affects their continued use of the libraries. We also verified whether school library user satisfaction is an intervening variable in continued-use intention, which is affected by spatial characteristics perception. We conducted a survey of 342 students from four middle schools. The analysis of the survey outcomes shows differences in library use due to spatial characteristics such as convenience, communicability, diversity, and safety. Factors such as communicability, comfortability, and ambience affected user satisfaction positively. Both aesthetics and communicability also positively influenced the continued-use intention. Furthermore, we identified that communicability, comfortability, and ambience eventually impacted the continued-use intention via user satisfaction, an intervening variable. The significance of this study is that it considered the direction of the school library to support students' reading by regarding the school library as a space for reading.

The study has developed the scope and sequence of information literacy instruction's curriculum for integration strategies of traditional reading education, library use education and information literacy. For this purpose, this study compares and analyze the scope and sequence of reading education, library use education and information literacy instruction's curriculum in Korea, American and Japan. Basing on the comparative result, it proposed the scope and sequence of information literacy instruction's curriculum in Korea. The scope and sequence which it proposes based on the skill and process of information literacy model, it includes contents of traditional reading education, library use education.
