  • The purposes of this study are for current manufacturing status of the formal knit slacks for the middle aged women. As for the methodology, five manufacturers specializing in formal knitwear brands were subjected to the study, to examine the current manufacturing status of the knit slacks for the middle aged women, by conducting interviews and questionnaire with patterner and designer. The questionnaire items are 20 ones including general questions on manufacturing of the knit slacks, questions on materials used in manufacturing, and on sewing. The results are as followings : First, as for the manufacturing structure of the knit slacks manufacturer, all manufacturers directly manufactured knit slacks in their own factory, and the manufacturing was comprised of 10% in woven slacks and 90% in knit slacks. Second, as for the type of yarn mostly used in fabric knitting for the knit slacks, wool was used mostly for F/W, and acrylic or Saint yarn for S/S. As for the types of knit, Milano rib stitch and Half Milano rib stitch were used for wool and acrylic knitting, and plain stitch was used for Saint yarn. As for the gauge, 12G and 14G were used, whereas 7G, 12G was used for Saint yarn. Repair requests of the knit slacks were mostly on the length of the pants, such as shortening hip circumference and crotch length, or widening waist and hip area. The study shows that the size of knit slacks did not fit the body type of customers.

  • This paper proposes knit slacks patterns by lower body shape of middle-aged women. In addition, this paper aims to propose a design method for a prototype of nice knit slacks using the properties of knitwear. To select basic woven slack patterns which would be used in designing prototype of knit slacks for middle-aged women, two industrial slack patterns and two educational slack patterns were collected, and lab coats were prefabricated using muslin. Then, a shape test was performed by an evaluation board which consisted of eight experts who majored in Clothing Construction. Using blended yarn (1/17's) with 64% wool, 23% rayon and 13% nylon, 12G knit slacks in plain stitch were made. In terms of waist circumference of knit slacks, the front and the back were set to W/4+1+2(D) and W/4-1+2(D), respectively, with 1cm of difference using waist circumference (Omphalion) to cover the abdominal circumference. To make the front-back width of the side line even, the front waist circumference was increased by 1cm. The ease of hip circumference was set to 4cm in total with H/4+1+0.8 in front and H/4+1-0.8 in the back (0.8cm in difference). Crotch length was set by adding 3cm (width of waist belt) after deducting crotch height from waist height (Omphalion). The center front angle was shifted by 1cm while the center back angle was shifted from the center front to the side line by 5cm.

  • This study investigates the intake and consumption behavior for milk and dairy products among middle school students in Gyeonggi Province. 'The result of the study is as follows. Only 37.4% of the subjects drink milk everyday, and 56.7% of them drink one cup of milk a day. 69.2% of them usually drink plain milk whereas most of them prefer flavored milk rather than plain milk. Reasons to drink milk are 'want to be tall' and 'good to drink' while the reasons not to drink milk are 'its bad taste' and 'prefer other beverages.' 36.7% take dairy products 3~4 times per week. Male students prefer ice-cream among dairy products while female students prefer liquid-type yoghurt. Most of the students consume dairy products for 'good taste,' 'good to eat,' 'want to be tall' in order. Those who don't consume dairy products say the major reason to dislike dairy products is 'their families do not drink dairy products at home'. As for the health benefit of dairy products, 79.9% of the subjects think that the products are of no effect. When they buy milk and dairy products, the most important standard of selection is 'shelf-life' for milk and 'favorite dairy products' for dairy products. Most of the students think that 'better taste and qualify' and 'better sanitation' will increase their consumption of milk and dairy products.

  • The inconsistent city planning damaged the city's landscape & identity, the old days. Nowadays the central and local governments are interested in the city's landscape design for residents, economic reason, etc. Color is most efficient one of design elements to improve a city landscape. So to establish the uniqueness and beauty of Gunsan city landscape, this study was performed to find out Gunsan landscape colors to survey the landscape color, by priority. There are nature environment of sea, river, reservoir, mountains and plain and artificial environment of buildings used japanese occupation period, them in early modern era and modern things. It found out the color palette has extracted from the present colors in the city landscape. There were mostly colors with low chroma, middle value and the next thing was them with high value. The blue among hue was strong. The Chroma was very low to be concentrated in $L^*$ axis. So achromatic color or blue/green of middle value and low chroma were recommended for dominant color and the similar color of former color was good for assort color in Gunsan city landscape.

  • The purpose of study examined of historical changes of western men's nightclothes from middle ages to the modern ages and analyzed functions and features of men's nightclothes. This study presented meaning and importance of men's nightclothes. The method of study researched the many literatures and internet sources. Until medieval age, men slept naked or in a day-shirt. In the 16th century, a nightshirt was worn in bed. A night-cap was usual, in rather more elaborate form, also worn by day in the house, and even outdoors. In the 17th century, nightshirt was elabrated with ruffles and lace. The nightshirts of 18th century, resembled the day-shirt except that it was slightly longer and fuller in cut. The turn of 19th century, men weared nightshirt with a high folding collar, one button and night-cap of jellybag shape. In the early 19th century, nightshirt had a plain turned-down collar, buttoned at the neck. A night-cap with colored tassel was usual. The middle of 19th century, a nightgown was reaching to the ankle. Pyjamas, in the 1890s, were steadily replacing the nightshirt, before long pyjamas had become generally accepted in place of the nightshirt. A pyjamas which preseverved his male dignity by giving him trousers. Man's ingenuity also modified his nigntclothes so that these took on sexual characteristic. In 20th century, the fabrics had become lighter in weight, and the choice of materials wider. By 1930s, nightclothes had become the man's most colorful garment.

  • This paper presents the fabrication and evaluation of mechanical behavior for a peristaltic micropump by flow simulation. The valve-less micropump using the diffuser/nozzle is consists of the lower plate, the middle plate, the upper plate and the tube that connects inlet and outlet of the pump. The lower plate includes the channel and the chamber, and the plain middle plate are made of glass and actuated by the piezoelectric translator. Channels and a chamber on the lower plate are fabricated on high processability silicon wafer by the DRIE(Deep Reactive Ion Etching) process. The upper plate does the roll of a pump cover and has inlet/outlet/electric holes. Three plates are laminated by the aligner and bonded by the anodic bonding process. Flow simulation is performed using error-reduced finite volume method (FVM). As results of the flow simulation and experiments, the single chamber pump has severe flow problems, such as a backflow and large fluctuation of a flow rate. It is proved that the double-chamber micropump proposed in this paper can reduce the drawback of the single-chamber one.

  • We attempt to classifing method of micro-landform on the alluvial plain, such as natural-levee, backmarsh and alluvial fan, using false color composite of Landsat Thematic Mapper image. The study area is Kumho River Basin on the southeastern part of Korea peninsula. The most effective image for micro-landform classification is the false color composite of band 2, 3 and 4 with blue, green and red filtering. The most favorable time is the middle third of November, because of the density differentiation of green vegetation in most great. In this time the paddy field on the back-marsh is bare by rice harvesting. But on the natural levee the green vegetation, such as vegetables and lower herbs under fruit tree, remain relatively more. On the alluvial fan, the green vegetation condition is medium. For the verification of the micro-landform classification, we employed the field survey and grain size analysis of the deposition of each micro-landform on the sample area. It is clarified that the classification method of micro-landform on the alluvial plain using the Landsat TM image is relatively useful.

  • Two Cretaceous(80-90 Ma) non-marine sedimentary basins, Namyang and Tando Basins, are distributed in the Namyang area, Hwaseonggun and in the Tando area, Ansanshi, Kyungki Province, Korea. The Namyang and Tando Basins are composed of 10 facies, which are pooped into 5 facies associations(FA). FA I consists of massive conglomerate facies, normally graded conglomerate facies and reversely graded conglomerate facies, which is interpreted to have been formed by laminated sandstone facies, massive conglomerate facies(channelized), which is thought to have been formed by sheet flow, stream flow and suspension sedimentation in an alluvial/braided plain environment. FA III consists of massive mudstone(pebbly) facies, laminated mudstone facies, massive sandstone facies and is interbedded by channel-fill conglomerate. It is interpreted to have been deposited by suspension settling during flooding and channel-fill deposition in a floodplain environment. FA IV consists of massive conglomerate facies, normally graded conglomerate facies, massive sandstone facies, normally graded sandstone facies, and laminated sandstone facies and is interbedded with mudstone facies. It is thought to have been deposited by debris flow and turbidity current in a fan-delta environment. FA V consists of massive mudstone facies, laminated mudstone facies, laminated sandstone facies and is interbedded by massive conglomerate bed. It is thought to have been formed by suspension sedimentation and low-density turbidity current in a lake. In the Namyang Basin FA I is distributed in the eastern and southern margin of the basin, FA II in the middle part of the basin as north-south tending band. and FA III in the western part. In the Tando Basin FA II is distributed in the middle part of eastern margin and in the northwestern margin, FA IV in the southwestern part, and FA V in the central part. Correlation of the facies associations shows that FA I and II in the Namyang Basin are distributed in the lower to middle part of stratigraphic sequence and FA III in the upper part of the sequence whereas FA II and IV in the Tando Basin are in the lower to middle part and FA V in the upper part of the sequence. These patterns of facies associations distribution suggest that the Namyang Basin was developed as an alluvial fan and alluvial/braided plain at first and then evolved into a floodplain whereas the Tando Basin was developed as a fan-delta and alluvial/braided plain at first and then evolved into a lake environment.
