The variation of magnetic permeability and dielectric constant and their relationship with microwave absorbing properties are investigated in sintered Ni-Zn ferrite. Toroid specimens of ${(Ni_{0.5}Zn_{0.5}O)}_{1-y}{(Fe_{2}O_{3})}_{1+y}$ ferrites are prepared by conventional ceramic processing technique. The large change in magnetic permeability is observed by the variation of excess $Fe_{2}O_{3}$ in the Ni-Zn ferrites. The more the iron-excess from y=0.04 to y=0.12, the lower value of both $\mu_{r}'$ and $\mu_{r}"$ is observed. However dielectric permittivity increases with the increase of the increase of the excess $Fe_{2}O_{3}$. The control of permittivity is realized by nitrogen sintering atmosphere and excess $Fe_{2}O_{3}$ respectively.
In this study, the magnetic(static and high-frequency) and microwave absorbing properties have been investigated in Ru-Co substituted M-hexaferrites($BaFe_{12-2x}Ru_xCo_xO_{19}$). The powders and sintered specimens were prepared by conventional ceramic processing technique. With the calcined powders, the composite specimens were prepared using the silicone rubber as a matrix material. The substitution ratio of Ru-Co to obtain in-plane magnetic anisotropy, thus having the minimum coercivity, is much smaller (about x=0.3) than the previously reported Ti-Co substituted specimen. Owing to this low substitution, the specimen has a large value of saturation magnetization($M_s$=65 emu/g). Ferromagnetic resonance behavior and microwave absorbing frequency band is strongly influnced by the coercvity which can be controlled by Ru-Co substitution ratio. It is found that the M-hexaferrites with planar magnetic anisotropy by doping Ru-Co in both sintered and composite form have superior microwave absorbing properties in GHz frequency range.

Advanced microwave absorbers for wide oblique incidence angles are required in many applications including wireless communication or vehicle identification in ITS(Intelligent Transport System) where 5.8 GHz DSRC(Dedicated Short Range Communication) system is applied. In this study, two-layered microwave absorber(with a laminate structure of dielectric/magnetic composites) has been designed for the achievement of low reflection coefficient over wide incidence angles at 5.8 GHz. Iron flake particles are used as the filler in the absorbing layer, and the magnetic composite sheet exhibits high magnetic loss due to ferromagnetic resonance in gigahertz frequencies. The surface layer of low dielectric constant containing small amount of carbon black is used as the impedance transformer. On the basis of transmission line theory, the reflection loss has been calculated for the two-layer structure with variation of incident angles for both TE(Transverse Electric) and TM(Transverse Magnetic) polarizations. At the optimum thickness of the composite layers, a low value of reflection loss(less than -10 dB) has been predicted for wide incidence angles up to $55^{\circ}$ which is in good agreement with the measured value determined by free-space measurement.
In this study, the composites containing carbon black (CB) or carbon fibers were prepared, and the microwave absorbing properties and the absorption mechanism of them were investigated and discussed in the frequency range of 2-18 GHz, respectively. The optimum mass fraction of CB has been found as 6%, and the carbon fibers were discovered to absorb radar wave either under parallel or vertical polarization, the suitable gap distance between each bundle of which was 5 mm. According to the results of the single constitute absorber samples, the structured composites with the two kinds of absorbers combination were fabricated and studied at 2-18 GHz. The top layer absorbers affect the absorption performance a lot; the maximum reflection loss of composites with CB as top layer absorbers was -31.8 dB with the frequency range of 2.4 GHz below -10 dB, and the other type with CFs as the top layer absorbers obtained the reflection loss peak value of -31.4 dB with 2 GHz below-10 dB.

Electrical and electromagnetic wave absorbing properties of MnZn ferrite-rubber composites have been examined for varying the volume fraction of ferrite powder from 0.1 to 0.4 in the frequency range between 1-10 GHz. As the volume fraction of MnZn ferrite increased, the complex permittivity and permeability of composite increased. The peak of reflection loss at the frequency corresponding to 1/4 wavelength shifts to lower frequency, and shifts to lower frequency as the thickness of absorber increased. We show that for the ferrite-rubber composites the volume fraction of ferrite should be controled to obtain the absorbing properties required in given frequency range.

In this paper, we studied the magnetic composite sheets for electromagnetic wave noise absorber of quasi-microwave band by using soft magnetic FeSiCr and Fe50Ni flakes with the thickness of about $1{\mu}m$ and polymer. The magnetic hysteresis curve including saturation magnetization and residual magnetization and the complex permeability characteristics of the composite sheets were investigated to clarify the mixing effect on electromagnetic wave absorption properties. The saturation magnetization was decreased about 10% while the residual magnetization was increased about 15% and the real parts of complex permeability at below 500 MHz were increased 0.6~4 while those values at above 500 MHz were decreased 0.4~2.5 according to the change of contents of FeSiCr and Fe50Ni powders. As a result, the reflection loss can be moved to the lower frequency from 2~3 GHz to 1~1.5 GHz as the contents of Fe50Ni flaky powder into FeSiCr flaky powder was increased up to 50%.
There are few reports of high frequency loss behavior in the near-field for magnetic films with semiconducting properties, even though semiconducting magnetic materials, such as soft magnetic amorphous alloys and nanocrystalline thin films, have been demonstrated. The electromagnetic loss behavior of multilayer magnetic films with semiconducting properties on the microstrip line in quasi-microwave frequency band was analyzed numerically using a commercial finite-element based electromagnetic solver. The large increase in the absorption performance and broadband characteristics of the semiconducting/insulating layer magnetic films examined in this study were attributed to an increase in the loss factor of resistive loss. The electromagnetic reflection increased significantly with increasing conductivity, and the loss power deteriorated significantly. The numerical results of the magnetic field distribution showed that a strong radiated signal on the microstrip line was emitted with increasing conductivity and decreasing film thickness due to re-reflection of the radiated wave from the surface of the magnetic film, even though the emitted levels varied with film thickness.

In this paper we present an alternative approach to addressing the problem of designing cloaks for radar targets, which have been dealt with in the past by using the transformation optics (TO) algorithm. The present design utilizes realistic materials, which can be fabricated in the laboratory, and are wideband as well as relatively insensitive to polarization and incident angle of the incoming wave. The design strategy, presented herein, circumvents the need to use metamaterials for cloak designs that are inherently narrowband, dispersive and highly sensitive to polarization and incident angle. A new interpretation of the TO algorithm is presented and is employed for the design of radar cross section-reducing absorbers for arbitrary targets, and not just for canonical shapes, e.g., cylinders. The topic of performance enhancement of the absorbers by using graphene materials and embedded frequency structure surfaces is briefly mentioned. The design procedure for planar absorbing covers is presented and their performance as wrappers of general objects is discussed. A number of test cases are included as examples to illustrate the application of the proposed design methodology, which is a modification of the classical TO paradigm.
Magnetic and Ka-band absorbing properties have been investigated in Ti-Co substituted M-type barium hexaferrites with $BaTi_{0.5}Co_{0.5}Fe_{11}O_{19}$ composition. The ferrite powders were prepared by conventional ceramic processing technique and used as absorbent fillers in ferrite-rubber composites. The magnetic properties were measured by vibrating sample magnetometer. The complex permeability and dielectric constant were measured by using the WR-28 rectangular waveguide and network analyzer in the frequency range 26.5~40 GHz. For the Ti-Co substituted M-hexaferrites, the ferromagnetic resonance is observed at Ka-band (29.4 GHz). The matching frequency and matching thickness are determined by using the solution map of impedance matching. A wide band microwave absorbance is predicted with controlled ferrite volume fraction and absorber thickness.
In this study, NiCoZn ferrites with the variation of sintering temperature and chemical composition were prepared by the coprecipitation. Microstructures Crystal structure of NiCoZn ferrites were analyzed by XRD and their electric magnetic characteristics were analyzed by LCR meter and their morphology observed by SEM. We identified that these powders have a typical NiCoZn spinel structure and nanoparticles average size of 40 nm. The impurity, the initial permeability and the Q factor value are the lowest of sintered NiCoZn ferrite at $1250^{\circ}C$. Also, we measured S-parameter for $(Ni_{0.4}Co_{0.1}Zn_{0.5})Fe_2O_4$ which showed a maximum reflection loss of -3.1 dB at 6 GHz for the 2 mm thick sample. From this result, we found that the NiCoZn ferrite can be used in ferrite microwave-absorbing application at a higher frequency region (> 6 GHz).
