Nowadays, as the availability of tiny, low-cost microcomputer increases at a high level, mobile robots are experiencing remarkable enhancements in hardware design, software performance, and connectivity advancements. In order to control Turtlebot 2, several algorithms have been developed using the Robot Operating System(ROS). However, ROS requires to be run on a high-cost computer which increases the hardware cost and the power consumption to the robot. Therefore, design an algorithm based on low-cost hardware is the most innovative way to reduce the unnecessary costs of the hardware, to increase the performance, and to decrease the power consumed by the computer on the robot. In this paper, we present a path-finding algorithm for TurtleBot 2 based on low-cost hardware. We implemented the algorithm using Raspberry pi, Windows 10 IoT core, and RPLIDAR A2. Firstly, we used Raspberry pi as the alternative to the computer employed to handle ROS and to control the robot. Raspberry pi has the advantages of reducing the hardware cost and the energy consumed by the computer on the robot. Secondly, using RPLIDAR A2 and Windows 10 IoT core which is running on Raspberry pi, we implemented the path-finding algorithm which allows TurtleBot 2 to navigate from the starting point to the destination using the map of the area. In addition, we used C# and Universal Windows Platform to implement the proposed algorithm.

Recently, both the integration of product data during design and production and the effective management of information during full lifecycles have attracted attention from shipyards and ship owners as a result of recycling regulations and a desire for efficient operations. Generally, PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) supports a collaborative environment during the BOL (Beginning of Life) stage, while an ALM (Asset Lifecycle Management) system provides all of the information required to maintain, overhaul, and discard/recycle all or part of a vessel during the MOL (Middle of Life) and EOL (End of Life) stages. The main goal of this paper is to suggest the fundamental configuration of a PALM (Product Asset Lifecylce Management) system and a method that can be used to utilize a marine vessel's lifecycle information during the MOL, emphasizing the maintenance information during the middle of life. The authors also suggest a PALM system configuration in which lifecycle information can be collected by a PEID (Product Embedded Information Device) integrating a microcomputer, sensors, and wireless network communication. Through a prototype PALM system, the suggested features and PALM system configuration are implemented.
The automatic control system in the greenhouse have to be developed to the direction of considering various factors the variables such as condition of the cultivation and greenhouse, the properties and types of products. Therefore, it is more important to set up variables appropriately than the problems of automatic control system itself, and the automatic control system which satisfy these problems should be simplified in the aspect of operation. In addition, even the individual automations are not perfect yet, so more studies are required for the development of comprehensive automatic system in korea. This study was carried out to automatize environment control systems for greenhouse, especially from most intensive labor requiring parts such as watering, irrigating liquefied fertilizer, spraying chemicals, mixing and ventilation system, etc. The results are summarized as follows. 1. Control type tensiometer was expected to be desirable in the automation of watering system, therefore, a new tensiometer was designed and developed through this study. 2. The chemical spraying system developed through this study was found to be excellent in the aspect of operation. 3. When pulse type water discharge meter was used in the mixing of liquefied fertilizer and chemical solution, the error of mixing were range $\pm$0.1~0.15%. 4. The water level switch of electrod type used for controlling water level was found to be affective in both control performance and operation cost. 5. The water and level control system can be omitted if each tank size are standardized in accordance with greenhouse size, therefore, the installation cost might be significantly reduced. 6. The developed general controller was excellent in hardware parts, but still remained to be improved in software parts.

In the equipment industry such as chemical plants, high temperature, high pressure, and toxic fluids move between various facilities through piping. The movement and damage of pipes due to changes in the surrounding environment such as temperature changes, vibrations, earthquakes, and ground subsidence often lead to major accidents involving personal injury. In order to prevent such an accident, various types of expansion joints are used to absorb and supplement various shocks applied to the pipe to prevent accidents in advance. Therefore, it is very important to measure the deformation of the used expansion joint and predict its lifespan to prevent a major accident. In this paper, the deformation of the expansion joint was understood as a kind of motion, and the change was measured using a Hall Effect Sensor and a 9-Axis Sensor. In addition, we studied a system that can predict the deformation of expansion joints by collecting and analyzing the measured data using a general-purpose microcomputer (Arduino Board) and C language.
The microcomputer program PileNSF (Pile Negative Skin Friction) is developed by the authors in a graphical user interface (GUI) environment using $MATLAB^{(R)}$ for predicting the bearing capacity of a pile embedded in a consolidating ground by surcharge loading. The proposed method extends the one-dimensional soil-pile model based on the nonlinear load transfer method in OpenSees to perform an advanced one-dimensional consolidation settlement analysis based on finite strain. The developed program has significant features of incorporating Mikasa's finite strain consolidation theory that accounts for reduction in the thickness of the clay layer as well as the change of the soil-pile interface length during the progress of consolidation. In addition, the consolidating situation of the ground by surcharge filling after the time of pile installation can also be considered in the analysis. The program analysis by the presented method has been verified and validated with several case studies of long-term test on single piles subjected to negative skin friction. Predicted results of negative skin friction (downdrag and dragload) as a result of long from consolidation settlement are shown to be in good agreement with measured and observed case data.

Recently, demand for technology for energy economy and stable supply is increasing due to the increase in power demand of loads. The amount of DC power generation using new and renewable energy is noticeably increasing, and the use of DC power supplies is also increasing due to the increase in electric vehicles and digital loads. During parallel operation to increase the capacity of the power converter, the module bus method or the method using Can communication and serial communication has significant difficulties in smooth operation due to communication time delay for information sharing. Synchronization of information sharing of each power converter is essential for smooth parallel operation, and minimization of communication time delay is urgently needed as a way to overcome this problem. In this paper, a new communication method using pulse width information is proposed as a communication method specialized for parallel operation of power converters to compensate for the disadvantage of communication transmission delay in the existing system. The proposed communication method has the advantage of being easily implemented using the PWM and Capture function of the microcomputer. In addition, the DC/DC converter for DC distribution was verified through simulation and experiment, and it has the advantage of easy capacity expansion when applied to parallel operation of various types of power converters as well as DC/DC converters.
Microcomputer Based Laboratory (MBL), by offering accurate and effective data collection and real-time graphs, enables students to reduce experiment time and, thereby, have deeper discussions concerning experimental results. This helps to emphasis the essential aspect of scientific inquiry; the process communication. Therefore, this study examined secondary school earth science MBL lessons with regards to the five basic aspects of scientific inquiry: "Asking", "Evidencing", "Explaining", "Evaluating" and "Communicating". It then investigated the level of argumentative communication between the students and teachers and also among the students themselves. For this study, three classroom activities were observed and videotaped, and teaching materials, textbooks and students' notes were collected. The transcribed data were analyzed from the perspective of scientific inquiry level and argument frames. The results showed that the scientific inquiry levels of the three classes were similar, except for the "Communicating" aspect, which appeared in only one episode. "Asking" was carried out by the teacher and then students were directed to collect certain data in the "Evidencing" stage. Furthermore, students were given possible ways to use evidence to formulate explanations and connections through the "Explaining" and "Evaluating" stages. In the argumentation analysis, most argumentative communication was identified as being associated with a given procedure, rather than with any scientific phenomena. In only one episode, did "Communicating" relate directly to any scientific phenomena. It can be concluded, that although MEL places emphasis on communication for authentic scientific inquiry, the environment required for such inquiry and argumentative communication can not be easily created in the classroom. Therefore, in order for authentic inquiry to take place in the MBL classroom, teachers should provide students with the opportunity to develop meaningful argumentation and scaffolding abilities.
This study was performed for 7th grade students to analyze by leader style, the verbal interactions between students in a small group in an MBL(Microcomputer-Based Laboratory) experiment class. The study was performed after arranging the students into four kinds of groups, including groups with leaders of inclusive, persuasive, and alienating styles and a group with no clear leader. The analysis of total frequencies of verbal interaction revealed that the group with an inclusive leader showed the highest frequency of verbal interaction, followed by the group with a persuasive leader, an alienating leader and lastly, the group with no clear leader. The group with an inclusive leader showed the highest frequency of interaction from a cognitive aspect related to question(Q), response(R), making suggestion(MS), and receiving opinions(RO), while interactions from an affective aspect related to behavioral participation(BP) and students' attitudes(SA) were observed more often in a group including an alienating leader than in any other group. An analysis of characteristics of verbal interaction according to leader style showed that a group with an inclusive leader had a permissive atmosphere. It also showed that all members of the group actively participated in discussion and they had a sense of belonging and self-pride with their group. In a group with a persuasive leader, the leader took the lead of most experimental and discussion activities and he was rarely challenged by other students in the group. Rather, other group members showed a tendency to depend on their leader. In a group with an alienating leader, the relationship between leader and members of the group was not harmonious and unfiltered expressions of dissatisfaction and ignorance often took place. The leader's lack of concern about members' low achievement became an obstacle in active discussion. In a group with no clear leader, most interactions during discussion were short and simple. Many answers to the question given by their members were not clear and the interactions were sometimes interrupted for a short while.
The states of development of remote sensing, GIS and forest management technology are such that new directions in forest surveys and management are possible. The technologies can not be considered separately. With the increasing power and decreasing cost of computer processing and the development of inexpensive mass storage media, digital remote sensing applications are becoming more practical. Powerful microcomputer-based image analysis systems and GIS are important advancements. As well, it is only a matter of time before the integration of remote sensing image analysis systems and GIS becomes transparent to the users. Implementation of operational applications by both centralized agencies and local units is, therefore, becoming practical. This paper discussed the state of remote sensing technology and its application to forest surveys and management. The relative advantages and disadvantages of readily available remote sensing products for regional biodiversity assessment were summarized. Discussion is limited to the sources of up-to-date imagery suitable for regional land use/cover mapping, specifically : LANDSAT MSS and TM, and SPOT.
This study was conducted for the purpose of making the better utilization of MBL in class, based on 2009 curriculum which emphasizes research activities and recommends the direct use of the MBL. We investigated primary, secondary and pre-service teachers' satisfaction and perception level after conducting training about making good use of MBL. The satisfaction level of the training turned out to be high, level of applicability of MBL, expected improvement in learning skills of students and the will to apply it in class was high. The answer that they expect MBL to increase students' curiosity and interest in science was the highest among the survey results, which means that MBL could be used as a solution to lack of students' interest in science. Besides, primary teachers than secondary and pre-teachers, long careered teachers than short careered teachers and MBL-experienced teachers than inexperienced teachers showed more satisfaction and the will to adapt MBL overall. Primary and pre-teachers hoped MBL training to be more related to STEAM education, whereas secondary teachers wanted the training to have more to do with increasing creativity If advanced MBL training program is opened. The price was chosen as the best obstacle to MBL class' application, and the lack of manual for experiment and education to teacher was also pointed out secondly. In conclusion, if MBL is fully equipped in school and training on how to take advantage of it is provided continually, It is expected that MBL could increase the utilization in the field of science education. The results of this paper can be used when you configure the MBL utilization training program.
