Micro fabrication of polymeric materials becomes increasingly important. And it is considered as a low-cost alternative to the silicon or glass-based Micro Electro-Mechanical System(MEMS) technologies. In the present study, micro channels were fabricated via LiGA(Lithographie, Galvanoformung, Abformung) process used for Capillary Electrophoresis(CE) chip. Taguchi method was applied to investigate the effects of process conditions in injection molding(melt temperature, injection speed, mold temperature and packing pressure) on the transcription characteristics of the micro channel. It was found that the skin layer disturbs a formation of micro channel. Furthermore, mold temperature and injection speed were two important factors to affect the replication characteristics of micro channel.

In recent industry, with the miniaturization and high-precision of machine part, the development of mold manufacturing technology for mass production is accompanied by the development of new technology such as IT and BT In this study, the spiral type injection mold with a $200{\mu}m$ thickness is made to. investigating the influence of injection molding parameter and the flow length is measured through an experiment. Besides, Taguchi method is used in this experiment and the obtained data are analyzed using ANOVA method.

High-frequency induction is an efficient way to heat mold surface by electromagnetic induction in a non-contact procedure. Though the induction heating has an advantage in terms of its rapid-heating capacity on the mold surface, it still has a restriction on mold temperature control due to geometric restriction of an induction coil according to the mold shape. It has been recently applied to the injection molding of thin-walled parts or micro/nano structures. For localized induction heating, an injection mold composed of ferromagnetic material and paramagnetic material is used. The electromagnetic induction concentrates on the ferromagnetic material, from which we can selectively heat for the local mold elements. The present study proposed a localized induction heating method by means of selective use of mold material. The feasibility of the proposed heating method is investigated through the comparison of experimental observations according to the mold material.
In this study, we attempt to produce a semi-elliptical riblet with a shark skin-like surface using wire electrical discharge machining (WEDM) and micro molding techniques. Our design for the production of the semi-elliptical mold includes an electrode, a winding roller, and a guide on the WEDM system. A replication mold with negative riblets is machined using WEDM, and a shark skin inspired surface with positive riblets is fabricated using a micro molding technique. For a comparison with the original shark skin, a shark skin replica is also produced using the micro molding technique directly from a shark skin template. Droplet contact angles on a flat surface, the shark skin replica, and the epoxy resin-based micro riblet shark skin-like surface are evaluated. The effect of a Teflon coating on the contact angles for the three different surfaces is also investigated. The results show the micro riblet with a shark skin-like surface has a similar contact angle as the shark skin replica, which means that the simplified riblet shark skin surface strongly influences the performance of wettability. This study confirms the effectiveness of using the WEDM method to prepare hydrophobic surfaces with diverse surface patterns.
A simple method is presented for fabricating micro/nanoscale combined hierarchical structures using a two-step UV-assisted capillary molding technique. This lithographic method consists of two steps: (i) fabrication of partially cured polymer microstructures using a PDMS mold and (ii) subsequent nanofabrication using a high-resolution polyurethane acrylate (PUA) mold on top of the pre-formed microstructures. Using this technique, various micro/nano hierarchical structures were fabricated with minimum resolution down to 70 nm over a large area with very good reproducibility.

The production method of micro sacrificial plastic mold insert metal injection molding, namely ${\mu}-SPiMIM$ process has been proposed to solve specific problems involving the miniaturization of MIM. Two types of sacrificial plastic molds (SP-mold) with fine structures were used: 1) PMMA resist, 2) PMMA mold injected into Ni-electroform, which is a typical LIGA (${\underline{L}}ithographie-{\underline{G}}alvanoformung-{\underline{A}}bformung$) process. Stainless steel 316L feedstock was injection-molded into the SP-molds with multi-pillar structures. This study focused on the effects of metal particle size and processing conditions on the shrinkage, transcription and surface roughness of sintered parts.

Light Guide Plate (LGP) of LCD-BLU(Back Light Unit) is manufactured by forming optical pattern with $5\~100um$ in diameter on the LGP by means of sand blasting or etching method. However, in order to improve the luminance of LCD-LGP, the design of optical pattern has introduced UV inclined-exposure process in this study. This micro-optical pattern, which has asymmetric elliptical column shaped pattern, can change low viewing-angle to high viewing-angle, as well as it contribute to diffusion of light. As a result, this type of micro-optical pattern can introduce the highly luminance. The PR structure obtained in the stage of lithography has asymmetric elliptical column shape and it is processed into a micro-optical pattern. Optical design with this kind of micro-optical pattern, mold fabrication by electroplating and LGP molding with injection molding are under way.
The fabrication process of micro pattern structure with high precision and high aspect ratio using powder injection molding (PIM) is developed. In the PIM process, the metal powder is mixed with the binder systems and the mixture is injected into the metal mold. The injection molded green parts are debinded and sintered to reach final shape and properties. In this method, the optimization of physical properties such as fluidity and strength of the binder system is essential for perfect filling the high aspect ratio micro-pattern. For this purpose, the correlation between the properties of the binder system and feedstock and ${\mu}-PIM$ process was investigated, and a binder system with low viscosity at low temperature(about $110^{\circ}C$) and high strength after cooling was investigated and applied. Employing this process, high precision parts with line type micro pattern structure which has pattern size $160{\mu}m$ and aspect ratio more than 2 can be manufactured.

Sandwich structures, which are composed of a thick core between two faces, are commonly used in many engineering applications because they combine high stiffness and strength with low weight. Accordingly, the usage of sandwich structure is very widely applied to the aircraft, the automobile and marine industry, etc., because of these advantages. In this paper, we have investigated the buckling protection of an inner structure plate and the useful corrugated configuration for contact, and the fabrication method of the inner structure plate for large area using the continuous molding process. Also, we have guaranteed the accuracy of the molding process through the micro corrugated mold fabrication and secured the accuracy and analyzed aspect properties of the inner structure plate fabricated for a large area using the partial mold process. We have compared molding simulation according to the aspect thickness of the corrugated configuration with the molding experiment results.

Polishing processes are widely used in the glass, optical, die and semiconductor industries. Chemical Mechanical Polishing (CMP) especially is becoming one of the most important ULSI processes for the 0.25m generation and beyond. CMP is conventionally carried out using abrasive slurry and a polishing pad. But the surface of the pad has irregular pores, so there is non-uniformity of slurry flow and of contact area between wafer and the pad, and glazing occurs on the surface of the pad. This paper introduces the basic concept and fabrication technique of the next generation CMP pad using micro-molding method to obtain uniform protrusions and pores on the pad surface.
