Experimental study on deformation of concrete for shotcrete use in high geothermal tunnel environments

  • Taking high geothermal tunnels as background, the deformation of concrete for shotcrete use was studied by simulating hot-humid and hot-dry environments in a laboratory. The research is made up by two parts, one is the influence of two kinds of high geothermal environments on the deformation of shotcrete, and the other is the shrinkage inhibited effect of fiber materials (steel fibers, polypropylene fibers, and the mixture of both) on the concrete in hot-dry environments. The research results show that: (1) in hot and humid environments, wet expansion and thermal expansion happened on concrete, but the deformation is smooth throughout the whole curing age. (2) In hot and dry environments, the concrete suffers from shrinkage. The deformation obeys linear relationship with the natural logarithm of curing age in the first 28 days, and it becomes stable after the $28^{th}$ day. (3) The shrinkage of concrete in a hot and dry environment can be inhibited by adding fiber materials especially steel fibers, and it also obeys linear relationship with the natural logarithm of curing age before it becomes stable. However, compared with no-fiber condition, it takes 14 days, half of 28 days, to make the shrinkage become stable, and the shrinkage ratio of concrete at 180-day age decreases by 63.2% as well. (4) According to submicroscopic and microscopic analysis, there is great bond strength at the interface between steel fiber and concrete. The fiber meshes are formed in concrete by disorderly distributed fibers, which not only can effectively restrain the shrinkage, but also prevent the micro and macro cracks from extending.

  • This study examined the cause of the wrinkle defect which is frequently encountered in wire rod rolling of low carbon steel$(C0.08\~0.13wt.\%)$. Even a small defect on the surface of rolled bars can easily develop into fatal cracks during cold heading process of low carbon steel, and it is therefore necessary to minimize inherent defects on the surface of hot rolled bars. Hot rolling process of low carbon steel was analyzed to identify the cause of the wrinkle defect in conjunction with FE analysis. The integrated analysis revealed that the wrinkle defect initiated in the first stage of rolling, and it was at the billet edge where severe deformation and drastic temperature drop were present. To elucidate the micro-mechanical mechanism of the wrinkle defect, hot compression tests were carried out at various temperatures and strain rates using Gleeble-3800. The surface profile of the each other compressed specimens was compared, and rough surface lines were observed at relatively low temperatures. Those surface defects can develop into wrinkles during multi-pass rolling. To control the wrinkle defect in rolling, it is necessary to design an adequate caliber which can minimize the loss of ductility, and thereby prevent flow localization. To use the result of this study fur other steels, the quantitative measure of the wrinkle defect and flow localization parameter should be proposed.

다층구조확산을 고려한 제설제에 노출된 콘크리트의 염화물 해석 (Analysis for Chloride Penetration in Concrete under Deicing Agent using Multi Layer Diffusion)

  • 콘크리트는 경제적이며 고내구성 건설재료이지만, 염해에 노출된 경우 매립된 철근의 부식으로 인해 내구성에 대한 문제가 발생한다. 최근 들어 동절기에 제설제가 많이 사용되고 있는데, 제설제의 사용은 콘크리트 표면에 미세균열과 박리를 증가시키고 용해된 제설제는 매립된 철근의 부식을 야기한다. 기존의 염화물 지배방정식인 Fick's 2nd Law의 해석기법은 표면이 열화된 콘크리트의 염해특성을 평가하지 못하므로 이에 대한 고려가 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 콘크리트 다층구조 확산 모델과 시간의존성 염화물 확산을 이용하여 제설제에 노출된 콘크리트의 염화물 해석기법을 제안하였다. 이를 위해 18년 경과된 콘크리트 도로교의 염해실태를 분석하였으며, 역해석을 통하여 표면열화깊이 및 열화된 콘크리트 층의 증가된 염화물 확산성을 평가하였다. 제안된 기법은 30MPa 콘크리트에서 12.5~15.0mm 열화깊이와 2배 증가된 열화층의 염화물 확산성을 나타내었다. 본 해석기법은 표면열화 및 표면 강화 등 2개의 다른 확산성을 가진 콘크리트의 염화물 거동을 평가하는데 효과적으로 적용될 수 있다.

  • Polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) based electronic devices are widely used for various applications in large area electronics, biomedical wearable interfaces and implantable circuitry where flexibility and/or stretchability are required. A few fabrication methods of electronic devices directly on PDMS substrate have been reported. However, it is well known that micro-cracks appear in the metal layer and in the lithography pattern on a PDMS substrate. To solve the above problems, a few studies for fabrication of stiff platform on PDMS substrate have been reported. Thin-film islands of a stiff region are fabricated on an elastomeric substrate, and electronic devices are fabricated on these stiff islands. When the substrate is stretched, the deformation is mainly accommodated by the substrate, and the stiff islands and electronic devices experience relatively small strains. Here, we report a new method to achieve stiff islands structures on an elastomeric substrate at a various thickness, as the platform for stretchable electronic devices. The stiff islands were defined by conventional photolithography on a stress-free elastomeric substrate. This technique can provide a practical strategy for realizing large-area stretchable electronic circuits, for various applications such as stretchable display or wearable electronic systems.

열응력과 수압이 화강암의 변형 거동에 미치는 영향 (Effects of the Thermal Stress and Water Pressure on the Deformation Behavior of Granite)

  • 본 연구에서는 가곡광산 화강암의 변형거동에 열응력과 수압이 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 열응력과 수압이 미치는 영향을 해석하기 위하여 화강암 시험편에 열을 가하여 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, $700^{\circ}C$ 예열시험편을 제작하였고, 500, 600, $700^{\circ}C$ 예열시험편에 7.5MPa의 수압을 가하였다. 예열시험편에 대한 일축압축시험 결과 예열온도가 증가함에 따라 시험편의 축변형률 및 횡변형률이 증가하는 것으로 나타났으며 특히 $600^{\circ}C$ 이상 시험편에서 변형률의 증가가 현저한 것으로 나타났다. 온도에 따라 시험편의 일축압축강도와 탄성계수는 지수적으로 감소하는 것으로 측정되었다. 수압을 받은 시험편은 그렇지 않은 시험편에 비해 비탄성적인 변형거동이 큰 것으로 나타났으며 이는 수압이 예열시험편 내에 존재하는 균열의 확장과 개구에 영향을 미친다는 것을 뜻한다.

AE 측정을 위한 탐촉자의 보정에 대한 고찰 (A Study on the Transducer Calibration for Acoustic Emission Measurement)

  • 암석 시료의 파괴시에 발생하는 AE신호를 측정하여 파괴와 관련된 미세균열의 발생원에 대한 연구를 위하여서는 탐촉자에서 기록장치까지 전과정에 대한 검증이 필요하다. 특히 탐촉자는 기계적인 진동을 전기신호로 전환하는 기능을 가진 예민한 장치로서 다양한 인자에 의하여 예민도가 달라질 수 있기 때문에 보정시험을 실리하여야 한다. 압전 압력형 PAC 탐촉자를 NBS나 DG의 변위형 탐촉자에 의하여 보정하는 시험을 실시하였다. NBS 및 PAC탐촉자는 파의 입사방위각에는 무관하나 입사각에는 예민하게 반응한다. 즉, 입사각이 $90^{\circ}$ 일 때에는 입사각 $15^{\circ}$ 이하 일 때보다 약 10배의 큰 출력을 나타내었다. 또한, 시험에 사용된 PAC 탐촉자가의 경우 강도에 대한 개별 예민도의 차이가 최대 약 40%이었다. 압력형 PAC 탐촉자는 변위형 표준탐촉자로 절대치 보정시험을 실시한 결과 보정계수는 평균 77mv/pm이었다.

Fe-Ni-Co 코바 합금의 고온변형거동에 미치는 합금원소(Mn, Mo, B) 첨가의 영향 (Effect of Alloying Elements(Mn, Mo, B) on the High Temperature Deformation Behavior of Low Thermal Expansion Fe-Ni-Co Alloy)

  • The effect of alloying elements(Mn, S, Mo, B) on the high temperature deformation behavior of Fe-29%Ni-17%Co (Kovar) alloy were investigated. And the effect of high temperature oxidation on the hot ductility was also studied. The hot ductility of Kovar alloy was drastically increased with the addition of Mn and lowering of S content. It has been found that the brittle intergranular fracture at high temperature cracking is closely associated with the FeS sulfide along the grain boundary. When Mn was added, the type of sulfide was changed to MnS from FeS and ductile intergranular fracture and transgranular fracture were promoted. The formation of oxide layer was found to have minimized the hot ductility of the Kovar alloy significantly. Grain boundary micro-cracks in the internal oxide region were noted following deformation due to high temperature, one of which acting as a notch that caused the poor hot workability of the oxidized specimen. The addition of Mo to the Kovar alloy could also retard the decrease in the hot ductility of the oxidized specimen through the prevention of notching due to internal oxidation. Hot ductility was remarkably improved by the addition of Boron. The improvement of hot ductility results from the grain boundary migration mainly due to the dynamic recrystallization at lower temperature range ($900{\sim}1000^{\circ}C$).

팽창성 시멘트에 의한 암석균열시의 AE 특성 (Characteristics of Acoustic Emission by Expansive Cement Induced Rock Fractures)

  • 이 연구는 팽창성 시멘트의 팽창압에 의한 암석 파괴 시에 발생하는 AE 파의 특성을 규명하기 위하여 수행되었다. 연구결과 AE파의 우세 주파수와 최대 진폭은 팽창성 시멘트 충전공에서의 압력 발달 비율과 관련하여 변화되었다. AE파의 우세 주파수는 소 직경 충전공 시험에서 150∼230kHz이었고 대 직경 충전공에서 400∼500kHz이었으며, 최대 진폭은 각각 0.015∼0.050cm/sec 및 0.025∼0.064cm/sec이었다. 시험에서 충전공의 크기에 따라 각기 높은 주파수의 큰 진폭과 낮은 주파수의 작은 진폭의 AE파가 수신된다는 사실은 동일 시료에서 일정한 규모의 균열을 발생시키는데 필요한 총 에너지는 대체로 동일함을 강하게 암시하고 있다. 팽창성 시멘트에 의한 암석 균열은 진폭이 특별히 큰 AE파의 발생없이 안정적으로 진행되어서 거시적 암석균열은 미소균열의 안정적 성장의 결과임을 시사하였다.

구연산의 적용시간에 따른 임플란트 표면변화에 대한 주사전자현미경적 연구 (Scanning Electron Microscopic Study of the Effects of Citric Acid on the Change of Implant Surface According to Application Time)

  • The present study was performed to evaluate the effect of citric acid on the change of implant surface microstructure according to application time. Implants with pure titanium machined surface, titanium plasma-sprayed surface, and sand-blasted, large grit, acid etched surface were utilized. Implant surface was rubbed with pH 1 citric acid for $\frac{1}{2}$ min., 1 min., 1 $\frac{1}{2}$ min., 2 min., and 3min, respeaively in the test group and implant surface was not treated in the control group. Then, the specimens were processed for scanning electron microscopic observation. The following results were obtained. 1. Both test and control group showed a few shallow grooves and ridges in pure titanium machined surface implants. There were not significant differences between two groups. 2. In titanium plasma-sprayed surfaces, round or amorphous particles were deposited irregularly. The irregularity of titanium plasma-sprayed surfaces conditioned with pH 1 citric acid was lessened and the cracks were increased relative to the application time of pH 1 citric acid. 3. Sand-blasted, large grit, acid etched surfaces showed the macro/micro double roughness. The application of pH 1 citric acid didn't change the characteristics of the sand-blasted, large grit, acid etched surfaces. In conclusion, the application of pH 1 citric acid to titanium plasma-sprayed surface is improper. And pure titanium machined surface implants and sand-blasted, large grit, acid etched surface implants can he treated with pH 1 citric acid for peri-implantitis treatment if the detoxification of these surfaces could be evaluated.

염산테트라싸이클린의 적용시간에 따른 특수 가공된 임프란트 표면 변화 (Micromorphometric change of implant surface conditioned with Tetracycline-HCl : HA and Etched surface)

  • The present study was performed to evaluate the effect of tetracycline-HCl on the change of implant surface microstructure according to application time. Implant surface was rubbed with $50mg/m{\ell}$ tetracycline-HCL solution for ${\frac{1}{2}}$min., 1min., $1{\frac{1}{2}}$min., 2min., and $2{\frac{1}{2}}$min. respectively in the test group. Then, specimens were processed for scanning electron microscopic observation. The results of this study were as follows. 1. Both test and control group showed a few shallow grooves and ridges in pure titanium machined surface implants. There were not significant differences between two groups. 2. In HA-coated surfaces, round particles were deposited irregularly. The roughness of surfaces conditioned with tetracycline-HCL was lessened and the cracks were increased relative to the application time. 3. The etched surfaces showed the honey comb structures. The surface conditioning with tetracycline-HCI didn't influence on its micro-morphology. In conclusion, the detoxification with $50mg/m{\ell}$ tetracycline-HCI must be applied respectively with different time according to various implant surfaces.
