Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs) are self-organized dynamic networks populated by mobile nodes. This paper presents the improved cross-layer approach to complement the recent works for video transmission services on MANET. We use a statistical design of experiment and analysis in order to investigate interactions between major factors of each layer effectively with minimizing ns-3 simulation run time. The proposed cross-layer approach considers MANET protocol layers (i.e., physical, network and transmission layers) and an application layer (i.e., a video encoder) as factors simultaneously. In addition, the approach defines an objective video quality metric as a response variable. The result of this paper can be applicable as a preliminary research to design an optimized video transmission application which has ability to adjust controllable factors to dynamic uncontrollable factors.

Most conventional database systems support specific queries that are concerned only with data that match a query qualification precisely. A cooperative query answering supports query analysis, query relaxation and provides approximate answers as well as exact answers. The key problem in the cooperative answering is how to provide an approximate functionality for alphanumeric as well as categorical queries. In this paper, we propose a metricized knowledge abstraction hierarchy that supports multi-level data abstraction hierarchy and distance metric among data values. In order to facilitate the query relaxation, a knowledge representation framework has been adopted, which accommodates semantic relationships or distance metrics to represent similarities among data values. The numeric domains also compatibly incorporated in the knowledge abstraction hierarchy by calculating the distance between target record and neighbor records.

Even though software developing environment has been changing to Web basis very fast, there are just few studies of quality metric or estimation model for Web software. In this study after analyzing the correlation between the risk level and property of objects using linear regression, six middle sized industrial system has been used to propose the correlation model of size and Number of Classes(NOC), size and Number of Methods(NOM), complexity and NOC, and complexity and NOM. Among of six systems 5 systems(except S06) have high correlation between size(LOC) and NOM, and four systems(except S04 & S06) have high correlation between complexity and NOC / NOM. As Web software architecture with three sides of Server, Client and HTML, complexity of each sides has been compared, two system(S04, S06) has big differences of each sides compleity values and one system(S06) has very higher complexity value of HTML, So the risk level could be estimated through NOM to improve maintenance in case of that the system has no big differences of each sides complexity.

The key challenge in HW/SW co-design is how to choose the appropriate HW/SW partitioning from the vast array of possible options in the mapping set. In this paper we present a unique and efficient approach for addressing this problem known as Customized Heuristic Algorithm for Reducing Mapping Sets(CHARMS). CHARMS uses sensitivity to individual task computational complexity as well the computed weighted values of system performance influencing metrics to streamline the mapping sets and extract the most optimal cases. Using H.263 encoder, we show that CHARMS sieves out 95.17% of the sub-optimal mapping sets, leaving the designer with 4.83% of the best cases to select from for run-time implementation.
This paper addresses occluded object reconstruction and recognition with computational integral imaging (II). Integral imaging acquires and reconstructs target information in the three-dimensional (3D) space. The reconstruction is performed by averaging the intensities of the corresponding pixels. The distance to the object is estimated by minimizing the sum of the standard deviation of the pixels. We adopt principal component analysis (PCA) to classify occluded objects in the reconstruction space. The Euclidean distance is employed as a metric for decision making. Experimental and simulation results show that occluded targets are successfully classified by the proposed method.

Recently, mean-teacher models based on convolutional recurrent neural networks are popularly used in audio event detection. The mean-teacher model is an architecture that consists of two parallel CRNNs and it is possible to train them effectively on the weakly-labelled and unlabeled audio data by using the consistency learning metric at the output of the two neural networks. In this study, we tried to improve the performance of the mean-teacher model by using additional derivative features of the log-mel spectrum. In the audio event detection experiments using the training and test data from the Task 4 of the DCASE 2018/2019 Challenges, we could obtain maximally a 8.1% relative decrease in the ER(Error Rate) in the mean-teacher model using proposed derivative features.

As the number of software vulnerabilities grows year by year, attacks on software are also taking place a lot. As a result, the security administrator must identify and patch vulnerabilities in the software. However, it is important to prioritize the patches because patches for all vulnerabilities are realistically hard. In this paper, we propose a scoring system that expands the scale of risk assessment metric by taking into consideration attack patterns or weaknesses cause vulnerabilities with the vulnerability information provided by the NIST(National Institute of Standards and Technology). The proposed scoring system is expanded based on the CWSS and uses only public vulnerability information to utilize easily for any company. In this paper, we applied the automated scoring system to software vulnerabilities, and showed the expanded metrics with consideration for influence of attack pattern and weakness are meaningful.

For the past 50 years, graphite has been widely used as a moderator, reflector and fuel matrix in different kinds of gas-cooled reactors. Resulting in approximately 250,000 metric tons of irradiated graphite waste. One of the most significant long-lived radioisotope from graphite reactors is carbon-14 ($^{14}C$) with a half-life of 5730 years, this makes it a huge concern for deep geologic disposal of nuclear graphite (NG). Considering the lifecycle of NG a number of waste management options have been developed, mainly focused on the achievement the radiological requirements for disposal. The existing approaches for recycling depend on the cost to be economically viable. In this new study, an affordable process to remove $^{14}C$ has been proposed using samples taken from the Nuclear Power Plant in Latina (Italy) which have been used to investigate the capability of organic and inorganic solvents in removing $^{14}C$ from exfoliated nuclear graphite, with the aim to design a practicable approach to obtain graphite for recycling or/and safety disposed as L& LLW.
The operation of the precision-guided missiles with seekers is becoming more and more dominant since the modern wars became geographically localized like anti-terror campaigns and civil wars. Imaging seekers are relatively low-price and applicable to various operational conditions. The image tracker, however, requires highly advanced method for the target tracking under harsh missile flight condition. Missile roll can reduce the tracking performance since it introduces big differences in imagery. The missile roll is inevitable because of the disturbance and flight control error. Consequently, the errors of the subsystems should be under control for the stable performance of the tracker and the whole system. But the performance prediction by some simple metric is almost impossible since the target signature and the tracker are highly nonlinear. We established M&S tool for a precision-guided missile with imaging seeker and analyzed the roll effects to tracking and system performance. Furthermore, we defined the specification of missile subsystems through error analysis to guarantee system performance.

Vehicular ad-hoc network (VANET) is the name of technology, which uses 'mobile internet' to facilitate communication between vehicles. The aim is to ensure road safety and achieve secure communication. Therefore, the reliability of this type of networks is a serious concern. The reliability of VANET is dependent upon proper communication between vehicles within a given amount of time. Therefore a new formula is introduced, the terms of the new formula correspond 1 by 1 to a class special ST route (SRORT). The new formula terms are much lesser than the Inclusion-Exclusion principle. An algorithm for the Source-to-Terminal reliability was presented, the algorithm produced Source-to-Terminal reliability or computed a Source-to-Terminal reliability expression by calculating a class of special networks of the given network. Since the architecture of this class of networks which need to be computed was comparatively trivial, the performance of the new algorithm was superior to the Inclusion-Exclusion principle. Also, we introduce a mobility metric called universal speed factor (USF) which is the extension of the existing speed factor, that suppose same speed of all vehicles at every time. The USF describes an exact relation between the relative speed of consecutive vehicles and the headway distance. The connectivity of vehicles in different mobile situations is analyzed using USF i.e., slow mobility connectivity, static connectivity, and high mobility connectivity. It is observed that $p_c$ probability of connectivity is directly proportional to the mean speed ${\mu}_{\nu}$ till specified threshold ${\mu}_{\tau}$, and decreases after ${\mu}_{\tau}$. Finally, the congested network is connected strongly as compared to the sparse network as shown in the simulation results.
