Trifluoroacetic Anhydride를 이용한 NMR에 의한 수분정량 (Determination of Water with Trifluoroacetic Anhydride by NMR)

  • Measurement of water is a subject of continued interest. High resolution proton magnetic resonance has not been very effective in the determination of water. Especially spectral overlap with other proton signals from the sample is undesirable result. However, trifluoroacetic anhydride reacts with water and forms trifluoroacetic acid and the proton signal of trifluoroacetic acid did not overlap with that of samples. By use of this fact, water in acetone, ethyl ether, dioxane, dichloroethane and methyl isobutyl ketone is analyzed by high resolution proton magnetic resonance (PMR). This method is capable of detecting as little as 200ppm of $H_{2}O$. And it is very rapid, simple and accurate.

Controlled Release of Isonicontinic Acid Hydrazide from the Membrane-Coated Tablet

  • Membrane-coated tablet of isonicotinic acid hydrazide (INAH) which releases INAH at the zero-order kinetics was deveoped. It consisted of a soluble tablet core surrounded by a porous membrane which controls the diffusion rate. Tablet cores were prepared by compressing granules of INAH and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) dissolved in methyl ethyl ketone in which micronized sucrose were suspended. Diffusion rate of INAH from the tablet through the membrane was constant until the loaded INAH in the core was almost released. The rate was independent of pH of the dissolution medium. Water-soluble sucrose particles behaved as a poreproducing material in the water-insoluble PVC film coat. The pH independency of the rate was probably due to the high solubility of INAH in the water of wide pH range. The diffusion rate of INAH could be controlled by chnaging the composition of the membrane or the coat weight. This membrane-coated INAH tablet seemed to be a powerful candidate for the controlled release drug delivery system (DDS) of INAH or other highly watersoluble drugs.

Principal Component Analysis Based Two-Dimensional (PCA-2D) Correlation Spectroscopy: PCA Denoising for 2D Correlation Spectroscopy

  • Principal component analysis based two-dimensional (PCA-2D) correlation analysis is applied to FTIR spectra of polystyrene/methyl ethyl ketone/toluene solution mixture during the solvent evaporation. Substantial amount of artificial noise were added to the experimental data to demonstrate the practical noise-suppressing benefit of PCA-2D technique. 2D correlation analysis of the reconstructed data matrix from PCA loading vectors and scores successfully extracted only the most important features of synchronicity and asynchronicity without interference from noise or insignificant minor components. 2D correlation spectra constructed with only one principal component yield strictly synchronous response with no discernible a asynchronous features, while those involving at least two or more principal components generated meaningful asynchronous 2D correlation spectra. Deliberate manipulation of the rank of the reconstructed data matrix, by choosing the appropriate number and type of PCs, yields potentially more refined 2D correlation spectra.

  • Results of an experimental study on the manufacture, the workability and mechanical properties of steel fiber reinforced polyester resin composites utilizing industrial waste products are presented in this paper. The fly ash polyester resin composites using steel fiber, fly ash and calcium carbonic acid (CaCo3), unsaturated polyester resin, styrene monomer, cobalt octate and methyl ethyl ketone peroxide, fine and coarse aggregates are prepared with various filler~binder rations, binder rates and mixing conditions. As a test results, the workability of steel fiber reinforced polyester resin composites are considerably dropped with increasing fly ash-binder ratio and steel fiber volume. And compressive, flexural strength and bending toughness of the composites are remarkably improved with augmenting fiber contents.

분리벽형 증류탑을 적용한 필름공정의 폐용매 회수공정 최적설계 (Optimal Design of Solvent Recovery Process with Dividing Wall Column for Film Making Process)

  • This paper presents an application of Dividing Wall Column(DWC) to the recovery of the waste solvent from the film making processes. The waste solvent feed contains MEK(Methyl-Ethyl-Ketone), Toluene, Cyclohexanone, and water. The commercial software $HYSYS^{TM}$ was used for rigorous simulation and analysis. Sensitivity analysis for several major design variables were carried out to achieve the optimal design of the process. Distribution of the internal vapor and liquid flows to the prefractionator and main sections is shown to be the most dominant design factor for energy saving efficiency in the DWC process. The simulation results also show that the solvent recovery process using the DWC significantly improves both the energy efficiency and the compactness of the solvent recovery process.

  • We designed a conceptual model of the 2.3-BDO dehydration process using a hydroxyapatite-alumina catalyst and estimated its economic feasibility to predict the appropriate range of the purchase price of 2,3-BDO on commercial scale. The conceptual design and economic analysis can offer valuable information for the industrial application of 2,3-BDO because the most relevant studies have limitation in laboratory scale. Furthermore, the adequate range of 2,3-BDO price, in which the process has profitability, was investigated with the current market prices of 1,3-BD. The investigated price in terms of 2,3-BDO dehydration can pertain to estimation of the economic feasibility in 2,3-BDO production process.

국내시판 본드에 함유된 유기용매의 성분분석 (Constituent Analysis of Organic Solvents in Adhesives Sold on Domestic Market)

  • Ingredients and concentrations of organic solvents in 7 kinds of adhesive sold on the domestic market were qualitatively and quantitatively analysed. Vapor concentrations were also analysed to estimate inhalation concentratins when adhesives were abused to get high. Acetone, methyl ethyl ketone, methyl cyclopenatane, cyclohexane and toluene were identified to be used in domstic adhesives as solvents. When organic solvents of adhesives were vaporized in the vial at the room temprature for 30 mins, concentrations of organic solvents in air were in the range of 5,000~140,000ppm. Among these solvents, toluene, known to have strong hallucination effect, showed 5,000~35,000 ppm. The putative concentration of toluene in case of glue sniffing was estimated to be about 5,000ppm in consideration of glue sniffing circumstances. Toluene was found in all adhesives in this study, even adhesives which toluene was not described in label.

Saccharomyces와 Hansenula의 혼합배양에 의해 제조한 민속증류수의 향미특성 (Flavor Characteristics of Korean Traditional Distilled Liquors Produced by the Co-culture of Saccharomyces and Hansenula)

  • Andong Soju is a Korean traditional distilled liquor brewed with Nuruk which is cultured with wild microorganisms. To provide useful information for scientific production and systematic quality control of traditional distilled liquor, the effects of mixed culture of the alcoholic yeasts and saccharifying molds isolated from the Nuruk, and mashes on the flavor and sensory characteristics were investigated. Distillate from mashes cocultured with Saccharomyces cerevisiae and Hansenula anomala using Mucor Nuruk was compared with distillate from mashes brewed with Andong Nuruk and with distillate from plant fermented mashes to analyze their flavor characteristics. The volatile flavor compounds in distillates were analyzed by GC and GC-MS using direct injection, solvent extraction, and purge & trap methods. Alcohols such as 3-methyl-1-butanol, 2-methyl-1-propanol, 1-propanol, and 2-phenyl ethanol; aldehydes such as acetaldehyde and 2-furancar-boxaldehyde; esters such as ethyl ester of acetic acid, hexanoic acid, octanoic acid, decanoic acid; alkanes, alkenes, ketone, sulfur, and pyrone compounds were detected. Alcohols were chief components of flavor compounds. No significant difference in overall acceptability test was shown among three experimental groups(p<0.05), but Nuruk-like aroma, Kaoliangchiew-like aroma, sweet taste, and well rounded mouthfeel showed significant differences among them(p<0.05).

불포화폴리에스테르 수지의 형태에 따른 폴리머 모르타르 복합재료의 내열수성 (Hot Water Resistance of Polymer Mortar Composites Depending on Unsaturated Polyester Resin Types)

  • 올소-타입 불포화폴리에스테르 수지와 이소-타입 불포화폴리에스테르 수지를 합성하여 폴리머 모르타르 복합재료의 폴리머 결합재로 사용하였다. 불포화폴리에스테르 수지의 희석제로는 스티렌 모노머와 아크릴로니트릴을 사용하였고, 경화제로 methyl ethyl ketone peroxide (MEKPO), 가속제로 cobalt octoate (CoOc)를 사용하였다. 수지의 형태와 희석제의 종류에 따라 4종의 불포화폴리에스테르 수지를 제조하여 공시체 제조의 폴리머 결합재로 사용하였다. 폴리머 결합재의 첨가량에 따라 총 16종의 폴리머 모르타르 공시체를 제작하여 내열수성 시험을 행한 후 압축 및 휨강도시험, 세공분석 및 SEM 분석을 실시하였다. 시험결과, 이소-타입 불포화폴리에스테르 수지를 폴리머 결합재로 사용한 공시체가 올소-타입 불포화폴리에스테르 수지를 사용한 공시체보다 더 우수한 강도를 나타내었다. 내열수성시험 후에 측정한 총세공량과 세공의 평균직경은 시험 전에 측정한 값에 비하여 감소되었다. 내열수성시험 전에 관찰한 사진에서 폴리머 결합재와 충전재 및 잔골재가 co-matrix 상으로 견고하게 결합되어 있었으나 내열수성시험 후에 관찰한 사진에서는 폴리머 결합재가 대부분 분해되어 있는 것을 관찰할 수 있었다.

보호된 이소시아네이트기와 불소화 알킬기를 가지는 아크릴계 고분자의 합성과 특성 (Synthesis and Characterization of Polyacrylate Derivatives Baying Protected Isocyanate Groups and fluorinated Alkyl Groups)

  • 보호된 이소시아네이트기를 가지는 발수성 아크릴계 고분자를 합성하기 위해 개시제로 $\alpha$,$\alpha$'-아조비스이소부틸로니트릴을 사용하여 2-fluorohexylethyl acrylate (FA)와 2-(o-(1'-methylpropylidenamino)carboxyl amino)ethyl methacrylate(MEM)를 몰비를 변화시키면서 메틸 에틸 케톤 중에서 공중합하였다. 합성한 공중합체중의 MEM과 FA의 함량을 NMR로 분석하였다. 이 결과를 이용하여 Kelen-Tudos 플로트에 의해 MEM (1)과 FA (2)의 단량체 반응성비를 구하였다. 그 결과 r$_{1}$=1.59였고 r$_{2}$=0.50였다. 이들 고분자의 수평균분자량은 39400에서 72400사이에 있었고 다분산 지수는 대략 1.5정도였다. 그 고분자중의 보호된 이소시아네이트기는 15$0^{\circ}C$ 이상의 온도에서 이소시아네이트기로 재생되었다. FA를 65 ㏖% 함유하는 고분자의 물에 대한 접촉각은 95$^{\circ}$정도였다.
