Various sources, such as wind, waves, ships, and gas leaks from the seafloor, forms bubbles in the ocean. Underwater bubbles cause signal scattering, considerably affecting acoustic measurements. This characteristic of bubbles is used to block underwater noise by attenuating the intensity of the propagated signal. Recently, researchers have been studying the large-scale release of methane gas as bubble plumes from the seabed. Understanding the physical properties and distribution of bubble plumes is crucial for studying the relation between leaked methane gas and climate change. Therefore, a water tank experiment was conducted to estimate the distribution of bubble plumes using seismic imaging techniques and acoustic signals obtained from artificially generated bubbles using a bubble generator. Reverse time migration was applied to image the bubble plumes while the acquired acoustic envelope signal was used to effectively estimate bubble distribution. Imaging results were compared with optical camera images to verify the estimated bubble distribution. The water tank experiment confirmed that the proposed system could successfully image the distribution of bubble plumes using reverse time migration and the envelope signal. The experiment showed that the scattering signal of artificial bubble plumes can be used for seismic imaging.
In the present work, the effect of PDF selection and intermittency on the result of the numerical simulation are examined by the simulation of a turbulent methane-air jet diffusion flame. As to the PDFs, beta-function and clipped Gaussian are considered. Results for the pure mixing jet are compared with experimental results. Then, the turbulent flame is calculated for the same conditions and the results obtained for the several models are compared. It is found that the clipped Gaussian distribution coupled with consideration of intermittency recovers the experimental data very well. As to the reacting flow results, the main overall properties of the turbulent jet diffusion flame such as maximum flame temperature are less affected by the choice of the PDF. Flame height and NO emissions, on the contrary, appear to be significantly influenced.
This paper illustrates the validity of reciprocating type superadiabatic combustor as a industrial applicable dryer. After the investigations of inner and surface temperature distributions of combustor various with air-fuel(methane) ratio, mixture flow rate and reciprocating time, this combustor can be applied in industrial dryer at certain operating conditions. The results are as follows. 1) Higher equilivalence ratio emits more radiation heat flux at the censer chamber 2) Higher mixture flow rate makes more uniform temperature distribution. however, due to the heat transfer from censer chamber to porous media, the radiation beat flux is worse. 3) Longer reciprocating time emit more radiation heat flux. however, this case also makes temperature distribution wide
Flame characteristics in a double concentric burner has been studied experimentally. Air is supplied through a central nozzle, methane/air premixture is supplied in a inner annular part, and coflowing shield air is supplied to minimize outside disturbances. Depending on flow rate and concentration, various flame shapes can be observed. As the flow rate difference between central air jet and annular premixed jet is varied, several distinctive flames are observed. Conditions of partially premixed flames are further investigated; nozzle attached rich premixed flame, inner lifted flame, and outer lifted flame. Using the Abel transformation of digitized images of flames, cross- sectional images of flames can be obtained, from which overall structure of flames can be identified. PLIF measurement of OR radical was also conducted. OR radicals were mainly distributed in diffusion flame region. From the difference of OR distribution between nozzle attached and lifted flames, similarity of OR distribution between tribrachial flame and lifted flames in this study are observed.

Sawtooth mixing device used in a non-premixed burner is evaluated for flame stabilization and NO$_{x}$ reduction. Three mixers with different blade angles are tested. Methane is delivered through the fuel jet and air passes through the co-flow annulus. The flame mode changes (attached flame, lifted flame and extinction) against the fuel flow speed are measured, and the stability diagram is drawn. Moreover, by traversing thermocouple and sampling probe in the flame, the distribution of temperature and NO$_{x}$ mole fraction are measured. With the change in blade angle, flame shape, flame stabilization, the distribution of temperature and NO$_{x}$ mole fraction are changed considerably.rably.

In a column experiment with low rank coal, rice straw was additionally supplied to induce methane gas generation by microorganisms in the state of supplying microorganisms and nutrients, and long-term biogas production characteristics were observed. When the weight ratio of the rice straw to coal was 0.04 or less, there was no significant gas generation. At 0.08, the biogas was generated for about 90 days. However, the methane gas generation was only 5% compared with the vial test result at optimum condition. Therefore, in order to produce biogas in the coal deposit in situ, a reactor that operates at COD concentration of 2000 mg/L or more at a ratio of 1:3 or more of rice straw to coal should be installed on the ground or under the ground. Liquid from the column filled with coal and rice straw and a liquid from vial containing rice straw were analyzed by microbial community analysis using pyrosequencing method, and compared the dominant microbial species among the two samples. In terms of the uniformity and diversity of the bacteria, the coal-filled column showed various species distribution, which has shown to be a disadvantageous microbial distribution to methane production.
Purpose - The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of gamma - irradiation on the effluent from food distribution in the large agricultural and marine products market. This study will contribute to the distribution process as well as the agricultural and fishery distribution facilities. Research design, data, and methodology - In order to reduce the odor, the smell was examined in the anaerobic digestion process by irradiating gamma rays to the wastewater of mixed food discharged from a large restaurant. An odor determination panel list was constructed to determine if the odor was present in the air dilution drainage and the odor concentration was analyzed by instrumental analysis. Results - It was confirmed that the sulfur content increased gradually from 3 months. Ammonia decreased from 33.57ppm at the initial measurement to 4.12 ppm at the end of the experiment. Methane production was highest at 100kGy when exposed to gamma rays of 0-200kGy at pH 12. In other words, it is considered that gamma irradiation doses are most effective at 100kGy and are suitable for large capacity wastewater treatment facilities in terms of economic feasibility. Conclusions - In pre-treatment of compound food wastewater, gamma irradiation is most cost effective when examined at 100kGy. The economic efficiency of the pre-treatment method by gamma irradiation is much higher than the wastewater treatment in the large-scale agricultural and marine products distribution market.

The objective of this research is to develop greenhouse gas generation models and estimation method of their parameters for solid waste landfills. Two models obtained by differentiating the Modified Gompertz and Logistic models were employed to evaluate two parameters of a first-order decay model, methane generation potential ($L_0$) and methane generation rate constant (k). The parameters were determined by the statistical comparison of predicted gas generation rate data using the two models and actual landfill gas collection data. The values of r-square obtained from regression analysis between two data showed that one model by differentiating the Modified Gompetz was 0.92 and the other model by differentiating the Logistic was 0.94. From this result, the estimation methods showed that $L_0$ and k values can be determined by regression analysis if landfill gas collection data are available. Also, new models based on two models obtained by differentiating the Modified Gompertz and Logistic models were developed to predict greenhouse gas generation from solid waste landfills that actual landfill generation data could not be available. They showed better prediction than LandGEM model. Frequency distribution of the ratio of Qcs (LFG collection system) to Q (prediction value) was used to evaluate the accuracy of the models. The new models showed higher accuracy than LandGEM model. Thus, it is concluded that the models developed in this research are suitable for the prediction of greenhouse gas generation from solid waste landfills.

Sludge pre-treatment utilizing cavitation is one of the commercialized methods at present. Cavitation can be generated by two different methods, sonotrode and hydrodynamic principle, and there has been no direct comparison between the two methods. In this study, solubilization efficiency, changes in sludge size distribution, and the methane production potential after pre-treatment by the two methods were compared. The maximum solubilization efficiency per unit energy input with the two methods was similar, and was 302 mg ${\Delta}SCOD/g$ TS at the energy input of 0.18 kWh/L. Break-up of sludge flocs were dominant during the early period of pre-treatment, while cell disintegration continued through the pre-treatment with the increase in the number of particles with less than 1 ${\mu}m$. BMP test results indicated that the methane potential increased up to 24.3% without differences between the two pre-treatments, and the increase in methane potential did not proportional to energy input. Although the energy efficiency of the two methods was quite similar, hydrodynamic methods might be a better choice for field application considering the operation and maintenance cost, and its potential improvement in energy efficiency.
Natural gas in deep sediment may occur in three phases based on the physical and chemical conditions. If the concentration of gas in pore water is less than the solubility, gas is dissolved. If the concentration of gas is greater than its solubility (water is saturated or supersaturated with gas), gas occurs as a fee gas below the gas hydrate stability Lone (GHSZ) and is present as solid hydrate within the GHSZ. The knowledge of gas concentration in deep sediment appears critical to determine the phase of natural gases and to understand the formation and distribution of gas hydrate. However, reliable data on gas concentration are usually available only from the upper section of marine sediment by the headspace gas technique, which is widely used for sampling of gases from the sediments. The headspace gas technique represents only a fraction of gases present in situ because sediments release most of the gases during recovery and sampling. The PCS (Pressure Core Sampler) is a downhole tool developed to recover a nominal $1{\cal}m$ long, $4.32{\cal}cm$ diameter core containing $1,465cm^3$ of sediment, pore water and gas at in situ pressure up to 68.9 MPa. During Leg 204, the PCS was deployed at 6 Sites. In situ methane gas concentration and distribution of gas hydrate was measured by using PCS tool. Characteristics of methane concentration and distribution is different from site to site. Distribution of gas hydrate in the study area is closely related to characteristics of in situ gas concentration measured by PCS.
