  • This paper deals with the development of measuring methodology and the requirement for its evaluation of the infrared radiation from a naval ship to optical sensors, considering the Meteorological conditions. Factors required for measuring the apparent temperature and infrared radiation are identified and two methods are suggested based on the measuring instruments carried by ship or aircraft. and target operation in the Meteorological conditions is considered. This study describes some factors affecting the IR signature. required instruments to obtain the IR signal considering the naval ship.

SPSS를 이용한 대기질과 기상인자와의 미세먼지 상관관계 분석 (Analysis of fine dust correlation between air quality and meteorological factors using SPSS)

  • 현재까지 미세먼지에 대한 연구는 예측, 분석, 측정 등으로 나눠지는데, 주로 대기환경 분야에서 이루어져 왔다. 미세먼지는 대기질 인자와 기상인자 그리고 배출 등 여러가지 원인으로 인해 발생한다. 각 요소들이 미세먼지에 얼마나 많은 영향을 끼치는지 상관관계를 분석하는 것이 우선이라고 판단하였고, 이를 실험하였다. 이 상관 분석에는 기상청과 에어코리아를 통해 확보한 대기질 인자와 기상인자 데이터를 이용, IBM사의 SPSS라는 Tool을 사용하여 이루어졌다. 그 결과 각 대기질 인자와 기상인자들이 미세먼지 수치에 미치는 영향정도와 상관관계를 좀 더 명확하게 알 수 있었다. 본 논문에서는 미세먼지 수치와 영향요소 및 상관관계의 정확한 분석을 위해 상관분석 및 피어슨 상관계수로 결과를 나타낸다.

해안도시 지역에서 증발산량 산정에 토지이용도와 기상인자의 영향성 (Influence of Land Use and Meteorological Factors for Evapotranspiration Estimation in the Coastal Urban Area)

  • Actual evapotranspiration (AET) in the Suyeong-gu was estimated and correlations between AET and meteorological factors were analyzed. The study area was Suyeong-gu lay at the east longitude $129^{\circ}$ 05' 40" ~ 129$^{\circ}$ 08' 08" and north latitude $35^{\circ}$ 07' 59" ~ $35^{\circ}$ 11' 01". The Kumryun mountain, the Bae mountain, the Suyeong river and the Suyeong bay are located on west, north, northeaster and south side in the study area, respectively. AET was estimated using precipitation (P), potential evapotranspiration (PET) and plant-available water coefficient. Meteorological factors to estimate PET were air temperature, dewpoint temperature, atmospheric pressure, duration of sunshine and mean wind speed (MWS). PET and AET were estimated by a method of Allen et al. (1998) and Zhang et al. (2001), respectively. PET was the highest value (564.45 mm/yr) in 2002 year, while it was the lowest value (449.95 mm/yr) in 2003 year. AET was estimated highest value (554.14 mm/yr) in 2002 year and lowest value (427.91 mm/yr) in 2003 year. Variations of PET and AET were similar. The linear regression function of AET as PET using monthly data was AET=0.87$\times$PET+3.52 and coefficient of determination was high, 0.75. In order to analyze relationship between the evapotranspiration and meteorological factors, correlation analysis using monthly data were accomplished. Correlation coefficient of AET-PET was 0.96 high, but they of AET-P and PET-P were very low. Correlation coefficients of AET-MWS and PET-MWS were 0.67 and 0.73, respectively. Thus, correlation between evapotranspiration and MWS was the highest among meteorological factors in Suyong-gu. This means that meteorological factor to powerfully effect for the variation of evapotranspiration was MWS. The linear regression function of AET as MWS was AET=84.73$\times$MWS+223.05 and coefficient of determination was 0.54. The linear regression function of PET as MWS was PET=83.83$\times$MWS+203.62 and coefficient of determination was 0.45.

대구의 여름철 야간 냉각량과 기상요소와의 관련성 연구 (A Study on the Relationship between the Summertime Night Cooling Rate and Meteorological Elements in Daegu)

  • The relationship between night cooling rate and meteorological elements was investigated over the past five years (2016-2020), using weather data from the new (Daegu(143)) and old (Shinam(860)) Daegu Regional Meteorological Agency located in the suburban and urban regions, respectively. There was a correlation between the total daily amount of solar radiation (Stot) and the night cooling rate in the both regions. However, a higher correlation was observed at the new Daegu Regional Meteorological Agency station (Daegu(143)). In particular, data from the new Daegu Regional Meteorological Administration's observatory, which experiences a low thermal storage effect caused by artificial structures, showed a higher correlation between nighttime cooling and weather factors. The reason for this is that the lesser the heat storage effect caused by the artificial structures, the better the effect of surface radiation cooling on temperature reduction. These findings confirm that the correlation between night cooling and weather factors can be used to assess the impact of artificial structures in cities.

Relationship between airborne pollen concentrations and meteorological parameters in Ulsan, Korea

  • The concentration of airborne pollen is related to meteorological parameters. The main purpose of this study was to determine the correlation between airborne pollen and meteorological parameters in Ulsan based on sampling from 2010 to 2011. The primary factors of interest were differences in the pollen scattering start date, end date, and peak date, and the fluctuations in pollen concentration. The meteorological parameters that affected the start and peak dates of the pollen season were as follows. For Pinus and Alnus, the dates were correlated with sunshine and an increase in temperature, whereas for Quercus, the dates were correlated with increasing temperature. During the pollen season, Alnus peaked when the temperature was highest and Pinus peaked when the relative humidity was lowest. The concentration of airborne pollen was correlated with meteorological parameters during the sampling period as follows: Pinus, Alnus, and Humulus pollen concentrations were positively correlated with increasing temperature and negatively correlated with rainfall and relative humidity; Humulus pollen concentration was positively correlated with sunshine; and Quercus and Humulus pollen concentrations were positively correlated with wind speed.

Spatial Characteristics of Low Meteorological Visibility over Hongkong and Statistical Retrieval from Satellite Data

  • Based on twelve observational stations low meteorological visibility (LMV) data during November 2002 to April 2003, the spatial distribution of LMV over Hongkong area (113.8$^{\circ}$ E-114.4$^{\circ}$ E, 22.1$^{\circ}$ N-22.4$^{\circ}$ N) is studied, using a PCA method. Optical spectrum of NOAA-16 associated with LMV shows that the significant effect factors correlated with LMV in the leading mode are the difference or rate between the visible and near-IR channels and single visible channel. A successful retrieval of LMV is done and a regression equation with a multiple correlation coefficient of 0.67 is obtained.

양파의 생육시기별 생육요인과 기상요인 간의 관계 탐색 (A Correlation between Growth Factors and Meteorological Factors by Growing Season of Onion)

  • 양파는 생산량 변동에 따른 가격 변화폭이 커 수급조절 대책이 필요한 대표적인 농산물로 대책의 실효성 증대를 위해서는 정확한 생산량 예측이 요구된다. 양파는 주로 노지에서 재배되기 때문에 기상변화로 인해 생산량의 정확한 추정이 어렵다. 많은 선행연구가 다양하게 시도되었지만 신뢰도 높은 분석결과를 도출하기 위한 양질의 생육 실측자료가 부족한 실정이었다. 선행연구는 기상여건을 통제한 실험설계를 통해 얻어낸 자료를 분석하거나 기상자료와 생육자료 간 지역적 범위가 동일하지 않는 연구가 대다수여서 생육요인과 기상요인 간의 관계를 명확하게 규명하기에는 한계가 있었다. 본 연구는 자연적으로 노출된 환경에서 수집한 생육 실측조사 자료와 함께 실측 대상 지역의 추정 기상자료를 사용하여 생육요인과 기상요인 간 관계를 실증적으로 분석하였다. 양파의 생산량은 구중으로 결정되지만 지상부 생육상황에 따라 구의 생장이 부진할 수 있기 때문에 본 연구에서는 구중뿐만 아니라 지상부 생장과 어떤 기상요인이 중요한지 탐색하였다. 시기별로 생육요인과 통계적으로 유의한 상관관계를 갖는 기상요인을 탐색한 후, 랜덤 포레스트 기법을 이용하여 요인들의 영향력 및 중요도를 분석하였다. 주목할만한 결과로 3월 초에는 일사량이 지상부 생육에 긍정적인 영향을 주었으며, 3월 말에는 강수량과 지상부 생장 간 음의 상관관계에 있어 가뭄에 의한 피해를 언급한 기존 문헌과 상이하였다. 또한 수확기에는 강수량과 일조시간이 지상부와 지하부 생육에 미치는 영향이 유의하게 반대로 나타났다. 본 연구에서 밝혀낸 생육시기별 중요 기상요인은 양파의 생육모형과 생산량 예측모형 개발 연구를 위한 기초자료로 유용하게 활용될 것으로 기대된다.

역궤적 분석을 통한 춘천지역 장기간 PM10과 PM2.5 외부 유입 경로 및 기상요인 영향 분석 (Analysis of the long-term PM10 and PM2.5 external inflow paths and meteorological factors in Chuncheon area through backward trajectory analysis)

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of external inflow and meteorological factors on PM10 and PM2.5 concentrations in Chuncheon area for a long time. In Korea, various policies have been implemented to reduce air pollution, but the improvement in the concentration of air pollutants (O3, SO2, PM10, PM2.5, NO2) in particular, O3,, PM10, PM2.5, remained insignificant, and the concentration of ultrafine dust (PM2.5) is still the highest among OECD member countries. In this situation, it is a very important task to accurately identify the cause of pollutant generation and increase in concentration. In this study, concentration analysis was conducted considering the effects of external inflow and weather, assuming that the causes of occurrence and increase of PM10 and PM2.5 in Chuncheon area were influenced by external inflow and weather. The effects of external inflow were evaluated using reverse trajectory analysis modeling, and the correlation between pollutant concentration and meteorological variables was presented for meteorological factors through statistical analysis. Through this, we tried to find out how much the concentration of air pollutants in Chuncheon in Korea is affected by external inflow and meteorological factors. Most of the reverse trajectory clusters at high concentrations were introduced from the west. In view of this, the high concentration of air pollutants in Chuncheon was mainly affected by the airflow introduced from the west. In the relationship between meteorological factors and concentration, wind speed showed a weak negative correlation with PM10 and PM2.5 concentration, and PM2.5 was somewhat more strongly affected by wind speed. Humidity showed a weak negative correlation with PM10, but a weak positive correlation with PM2.5. Compared to Seoul, Chuncheon had a larger correlation, but it was confirmed that there was little effect of wind speed and wind direction on the concentration because it was weak or insignificant.

Validation of Sea Surface Temperature (SST) from Satellite Passive Microwave Sensor (GPM/GMI) and Causes of SST Errors in the Northwest Pacific

  • Passive microwave sea surface temperatures (SST) were validated in the Northwest Pacific using a total of 102,294 collocated matchup data between Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) / GPM Microwave Sensor(GMI) data and oceanic in-situ temperature measurements from March 2014 to December 2016. A root-mean-square (RMS) error and a bias error of the GMI SST measurements were evaluated to $0.93^{\circ}C$ and $0.05^{\circ}C$, respectively. The SST differences between GMI and in-situ measurements were caused by various factors such as wind speed, columnar atmospheric water vapor, land contamination near coastline or islands. The GMI SSTs were found to be higher than the in-situ temperature measurements at low wind speed (<6 m/s) during the daytime. As the wind speed increased at night, SST errors showed positive bias. In addition, other factors, coming from atmospheric water vapor, sensitivity degradation at a low temperature range, and land contamination, also contributed to the errors. One of remarkable characteristics of the errors was their latitudinal dependence with large errors at high latitudes above $30^{\circ}N$. Seasonal characteristics revealed that the errors were most frequently observed in winter with a significant positive deviation. This implies that SST errors tend to be large under conditions of high wind speeds and low SSTs. Understanding of microwave SST errors in this study is anticipated to compensate less temporal capability of Infrared SSTs and to contribute to increase a satellite observation rate with time, especially in SST composite process.

대전지역 대기오염물질농도와 천식 환자수의 관련성 (Concentration of Air Pollutants and Asthma in Taejon City)

  • To determine the effect of air pollutants in Taejon City, we used medical insurance claim data for asthma and the data monitored from telemetry system of Ministry of Environment for air pollutants and meteorological factors. From November 1st, 1997 to October 31th, 1998, 95,629 asthma patients were covered by medical insurance at Taejon City. Subjects were composed of 49,563 males (51.8%) and 46.336 females(48.2%), and among the subjects, the proportion under 15 years old was 62.8% of the total. During the study period, daily mean concentrations of each air pollutants-So2, No2, CO, O3 and TSP-were 9.8 ppb, 17.6 ppm, 1.414 pp, 17.3 ppb and 60.6 $\mu\textrm{g}$/㎥, respectively, which were lower than each of the environmental recommended exposure levels, Through the simple correlation analysis between each air pollutants and meteorological factors, O3 was positively correlated with temperature, but negatively with relative humidity. TSP, SO2, NO2, CO were negatively correlated with meteorological factors, and these air pollutants except O3 were positively correlated with each other, O3 was correlated with TSP positively but the others negatively. Estimating relative risks of each air pollutant with the baseline general additive model, daily mean concentrations of TSP(Lag 0, 1, 4, 5day) were significantly associated with the increase of the asthma admission. Two age subgroups, under 15 and 15~54 have shown various association of all air pollutants concentration with the asthma admission. However, in case of over 54 age subgroup, only TSP(Lag 0 day) among all air pollutants was associated with the asthma admission. Each of ambient outdoor pollutant concentrations in Taejon City are significantly associated with the admission of asthma patients even though all concentrations in Taejon City are significantly associated with the admission of asthma patients even though all concentrations were much lower than the environmental recommended exposure levels. Therefore, continuous effort lowering air pollutant concentration and introducing an active environmental conservation policy should be implanted for preventing hazardous health effects. Considering major proportion of asthma admissions, high susceptibility and less confounding factors among the age subgroup under 15 will be a useful target population for assessing such health effect monitoring.
