Korea's ancestral culture has limited travel and contact due to Corona (COVID-19). In addition, Korean ancestral culture meets in person to commemorate the deceased. In this paper, we propose a non-face-to-face metaverse memorial platform service that can commemorate the deceased and perform ancestral rites in the cyber world (virtual reality) by applying the metaverse technology. The services proposed in the study consisted of a remembrance hall that displays the life story of the deceased, a ancestral hall that conducts ancestral rites for the deceased, and a deceased pavilion that checks the remains and wills of the deceased. In addition, the virtual reality device (HMD: Head Mounted Display) set the teleportation and content resolution to 4K to minimize dizziness. In particular, the priests applied interaction technology to provide an immersive service for ancestral rites between family members. The researched memorial hall metaverse service is a metaverse-based platform service that allows anyone to commemorate the deceased as a family unit in a non-face-to-face state rather than face-to-face.

In order to create a virtual reality space in the metaverse, accurate tracking sensors and implementation are required. Most government agencies and corporations performs tracking to use their own tracking sensors and a base stations, such as VIVE. The VIVE method may have tracking problems due to spatial constraints and obstacles or nearby structures, and it is also that the number of people that can be accommodated within the space is also limited. In this paper, we designed and implemented metaverse using an IR sensor tracking system to freely track the spatial virtual reality metaverse, and we experimented contents in metaverse by placing IR sensors additionally on the floor and ceiling if needed in order to flexibly configure the metaverse space. As a result of the experiment, the tracking stability of the IR-tracking system was approximately 12% higher than the VIVE method. Additionally, adding more tracking sensors on the floor increases tracking stability and allows for a stable representation of virtual space.

With the development of virtual reality (VR) and blockchain technology, Metaverse is being used in various fields such as games, education, and social networking. At the same time, shipments of wearable devices such as smartwatches are growing every year, becoming more and more integrated into people's daily lives. This study presents a new possibility of reflecting the user's body signals measured through the combination of the two phenomena in the metaverse character. Various biometric information such as the user's heart rate and amount of exercise collected through the smartwatch are reflected on the character in the metaverse, allowing the user's physical condition to be reflected in the virtual world. Through this, Metaverse is expected to provide a new experience that can be called 'extended reality' beyond simple virtual reality, improve user's satisfaction with Metaverse, and suggest a direction for the development of smartwatches.

Recently, due to COVID-19, non-face-to-face online lectures are being held all over the world. In higher education in the post-corona era, distance learning has become the main teaching and learning method. At this time, Metaverse is being proposed as a new alternative. Metaverse has basic elements such as avatars, 3D space, and activities accompanied by interaction, which can be seen as a difference compared to existing VR (Virtual Reality) contents. This study designed and built an educational metaverse platform that can be applied to actual lectures by reflecting the three elements of the metaverse. In addition, we implemented a cross-device-platform that supports various devices such as HMDs, smartphones, tablets, and PCs by reflecting user requirements through usability tests such as middle school, high school, college students, and parents, so that anyone can easily participate in Metaverse lectures. Currently, the metaverse platform is being developed and serviced in various ways, but there are hardly any services designed for education. Just as services such as Zoom, the existing video conferencing solution, were used for non-face-to-face education, some functions of the currently serviced metaverse are utilized for education and used in the form of a one-time event. The educational metaverse platform developed through this study is expected to be a reference in constructing the metaverse for education in the future.
With the development of computing technology, the convergence of ICT with existing traditional industries is being attempted. In particular, with the recent advent of 5G, connectivity with numerous AuT (autonomous Things) in the real world as well as simple mobile terminals has increased. As more devices are deployed in the real world, the need for technology for devices to learn and act autonomously to communicate with humans has begun to emerge. This article introduces "Device to the Edge," a new computing paradigm that enables various devices in smart spaces (e.g., factories, metaverse, shipyards, and city centers) to perform ultra-reliable, low-latency and high-speed processing regardless of the limitations of capability and performance. The proposed technology, referred to as EdgeCPS, can link devices to augmented virtual resources of edge servers to support complex artificial intelligence tasks and ultra-proximity services from low-specification/low-resource devices to high-performance devices.

As the concept of metaverse has received great attention, interest in metaverse related to landscape architecture is also increasing. The aim of this research is to understand the potential and tasks of applying metaverse in the field of landscape architecture by analyzing the user experience of a metaverse platform. The object of the research is Meta-Everland built in the Roblox platform, which has the most users among landscape architectural metaverses in Korea. NPS of 30 users who have been to Everalnd was investigated after using Meta-Everland with interviews. NPS before the metaverse experience was -16 and NPS after the experience was -24. This result means that the promotion level was lowered after the experience of the metaverse. There were three causes of lowered NPS: lack of users, low-quality graphics and interface, and lack of content. The factor of lack of users was the result of the other two problems. The factor of low technical quality is hard to be improved in a short period of time. Therefore, the main task to improve the metaverse is developing better metaverse content related to landscape architecture. It is more appropriate to develop metaverse-specific content rather than improve reality issues. Applying AR and VR devices, enhancing communication function, and developing potential as a simulation device are needed to be considered.
In this study, we developed a 'shared-use mobility'-mounted local particulate matter monitoring terminal technology to measure the actual particulate matter concentration around me. As a mobile terminal device in the form of an IoT sensor platform, it is designed to be separated into a control module and a sensor module to minimize interference between sensors and to consider the optimal observation position of each sensor. As a result of the field test, it was confirmed that particulate matter was locally different depending on time and space even within the same area. In addition, it was confirmed that the concentration of particulate matter in the relevant section differed by up to 100 times compared to the surrounding area due to specific sources of particulate matter such as unpaved roads. In addition, we positively reviewed the applicability of the service in the real-time metaverse environment using this result. Through technological advancement and application of multiple shared-use mobilities, we expect to be able to provide new services for practical smart city air environment monitoring, such as localized particulate matter information, air pollution event information, and identification of causes of particulate matter.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, games played an important role in people's lives. Numerous online users flocked to the game platform, and brand companies started using online games to promote their products. Medical institutions have also implemented policies for healthy physical activity through online games. In order to attract more global game users, research on immersion in games is also very important to prevent users from leaving the platform. Therefore, it is necessary to analyze the common immersion elements of popular games by country and study them from the perspective of changing devices. In this paper, representative popular games of Korea, China, and Japan, which are recently called the dark horse of the game industry, are classified by devices of mobile, online PCs, and VR games and analyzed using immersion analysis tools proposed by researcher. Next, the representative metaverse games of the Web 3.0 era were analyzed, and their characteristics were compared with the results of the immersion analysis between Korea, China, and Japan, and proposed as game immersion elements suitable for metabus games.
The non-face-to-face environment accelerated by COVID-19 has speeded up the dissemination of digital virtual ecosystems and metaverse. In order for the metaverse to be sustainable, digital twins that are compatible with the real world are key, and critical technology for that is AR (Augmented Reality). In this study, we examined research trends about AR, and will propose the directions for future AR research. We conducted LDA based topic modeling on 11,049 abstracts of published domestic and foreign AR related papers from 2009 to Mar 2022, and then looked into AR that was comprehensive research trends, comparison of domestic and foreign research trends, and research trends before and after the popularity of metaverse concepts. As a result, the topics of AR related research were deduced from 11 topics such as device, network communication, surgery, digital twin, education, serious game, camera/vision, color application, therapy, location accuracy, and interface design. After popularity of metaverse, 6 topics were deduced such as camera/vision, training, digital twin, surgical/surgical, interaction performance, and network communication. We will expect, through this study, to encourage active research on metaverse AR with convergent characteristics in multidisciplinary fields and contribute to giving useful implications to practitioners.

Due to COVID-19, which has thrown the whole world into chaos, it has become an era where many technologies and contents are made non-face-to-face. At the same time, the popularity of the metaverse service is also increasing day by day, and the virtual costume (avatar) industry, one of the sub-industries, is also growing. In this study, we designed and developed a system for creating virtual costumes to be uploaded to ZEPETO, a mobile metaverse service. Unlike the existing service that requires a program that operates in a PC environment, it can be produced only by shooting and simple operation through a mobile device. With the advantage of being able to process all tasks of this system in a mobile environment, small businesses and individual operators who are not familiar with external programs will be able to more easily access the 3D virtual clothing industry.
