This paper is to identify hew to interpret metaphorical expressions on the basis of the Comparison Theory. The metaphor is widely distributed throughout various aspects of language. There are three important conventional theories that are related to the interpretation of metaphor: substitution, interaction and comparison theory. This paper attempts to interpret several metaphors representative of the seven paths. we can conclude that the seven paths of metaphor interpretation can be applied to the interpretation of various types metaphor expressions with more precision and they can convey the meaning of a metaphor according to the speaker’s intention.

이용자 중심의 인터페이스 개발은 현재 검색시스템에서 가장 중요한 이슈가 되고 있다. 인터페이스에서 메타포의 사용은 바로 이용자 편의성을 높이는 방안이라 할 수 있다. 본 연구는 대학도서관과 공공도서관의 검색인터페이스에서 사용하고 있는 메타포의 유용성을 평가하였다. 그 결과 현재 사용되고 있는 메타포의 문제점은 비슷비슷하다는 점이며 한 이미지가 유일한 의미를 갖고 있지 못하여 혼동을 야기 시킨다는 점이며, 이미지와 텍스트간의 의미적 관계 또한 명료하지 않게 나타났다. 따라서 메타포 개발시 이미지에 담겨진 의미가 모든 이용자와 같을 수 있도록 논리적 유사점을 찾아내어야 할 것이다.

This study focuses on discussing several issues that we encounter when we 'modernize' the fundamental theories of Korean Medicine(KM): It is pertinent to set the boundaries of the "fundamental theories" of the KM. The boundaries can be set based on: a) setting the medicine and the philosophy of medicine apart and b) re-evaluating the traditional theories of KM based on the needs of the modern practitioners of KM. The fundamental theories of KM should focus on how effectively they can observe, explain, and predict the clinical cases. The clinical cases and observations should not be distorted in order to satisfy the theory. "The modernization of KM" can be defined as the change in traditional medicine to fit the needs of the contemporary world, while not losing the focus and the nature of the KM. The fundamental theories of KM will play a key role in modernizing the KM, as the focus and the inherent nature of the KM comes from these fundamental theories. The modernization of the fundamental theories of KM will be crucial to both possible models of future healthcare system-the plural healthcare system, or the western medicine-centric integrated healthcare system. The modernization will also help in advancing the future medical studies. The key to modernization of the fundamental theories of the KM is in translating the key terms of KM in modern light. As a solution, this study suggests paying attention to the 'scientific metaphors', and especially to the 'theory-constitute metaphors' among those. More in-depth studies need to be done on these.

대학 미분방정식 수업 개발의 일환으로서 본 연구는 학생들의 미분방정식에 관한 개념적 모델을 탐구하는 것에 초점을 두고 진행되었다. 본 연구가 이루어진 미분방정식 수업은 해석적, 질적, 그래프적, 수치적 방법 등의 다양한 수학적 방법의 적용에 기초하여 학생들이 능동적인 수학적 토의를 통해 미분방정식 주요 개념의 재발명해 가는 것을 강조하였다. 이러한 수업 맥락에서 본 연구는 학생들의 수학적 토의 과정에 나타나는 개념적 은유의 사용패턴을 탐구하였다. 본 논문에서는 발화 분석을 통해 추출된 미분방정식에 관한 학생들의 개념적 모델을 구성하는 주요한 개념적 은유인 '기계은유'와 '가상적 운동 은유'와 이들 각 개념적 은유의 수학적 특성을 제시한다. 끝으로, 본 연구의 수학적 발화 분석 결과에 기초하여 학생들의 개념적 모델의 이중성의 의미를 사회문화적 시각에서 해석하고 학교 수학에 주는 시사점에 대해 논의한다.

수학적 과정에서 나타나는 언어 구문론적 표현 체계와 정의적 표현 체계 사이에는 긴밀한 상호 작용이 이루어진다. 한편, 수학적 개념 체계도 본질적으로 은유적이므로 언어적 표현을 통해 나타나는 수학적 개념 구조에 대한 분석은 수학 학습에 작용하는 인지 정의적 장애 요인의 근원을 밝히는데 도움이 될 수 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 수학 영재아의 문제해결 프로토콜을 인지언어와 메타정의의 관점에서 분석하여 텍스트 및 은유의 기능적 특성과 메타정의의 기능적 특성 사이의 관계성을 파악하였다. 그 결과 문제해결의 성공 여부에 따라 수학 영재아의 인지적, 정의적 특성이 반영된 행위의 양상이 서로 다르게 나타났다. 성공적이지 못한 문제해결의 경우에는 성공적인 경우에 비해 내부 표현 체계로서의 은유를 활용하는 행위가 상대적으로 빈번하게 나타났다. 또한 은유의 인지언어학적 측면이 문제해결에 중요하게 작용하면서 동시에 은유라는 외적 표현에는 메타정의적 속성이 긴밀하게 관련되어 나타났다.

Lakoff(2002)의 가족으로서의 국가 은유(nation-as-family metaphor)에 따르면 미국의 보수주의와 진보주의의 도덕성은 각각 국가를 "엄격한 아버지(strict father)" 또는 "자애로운 부모(nurturant parents)"로 보는 서로 다른 가족 은유에 기반을 두고 있으며 보수주의와 진보주의 진영의 입장은 이러한 가족 은유의 가치와 연합되어 있다고 본다. 이 연구는 점화 기법을 사용하여 가족 은유가 실제로 경제적 어려움을 겪고 있는 사람들에 대한 판단에 영향을 미칠 수 있을지 살펴보았다. Lakoff가 언급한 "엄격한 아버지(strict father)"의 도덕성을 점화했을 경우에 비해 "자애로운 부모(nurturant parents)"의 도덕성을 점화한 경우에 참가자들은 사회 보장 프로그램을 필요로 하는 사람들의 성품을 좀 더 긍정적으로 평가하며 그들이 처한 경제적 어려움을 개인의 책임으로만 돌리지 않는 경향을 확인할 수 있었다. 이러한 결과는 보수주의와 진보주의적 태도와 관점을 구성하는 요체가 무엇인지 되짚어 보게 하며 특히 사회 정책의 결정 및 정치적 판단에 미칠 수 있는 상황적 요인의 역할에 대한 시사점을 제공한다.

The purpose of this study is to survey what strategy BACHE, a bathtub manufacturing company, chooses to implement knowledge management. Generally speaking, the success factors of this case company is follow-up management. The first factor is to use linguistic metaphors for employees to understand difficult knowledge management terms easily. The second one is that CEO tries to set and lead pro-knowledge management corporate culture. The third one is based on the CKO's competence to read business circumstances and apply the theory of knowledge management to the workplace. The fourth one has something to do with a way of knowledge creation, for example, a suggestion system and QC circle. The fifth one depends upon CKO's mission to share knowledge invented from his own company's with the rivals and large companies which order bathtubs so that overall bathtub industry can upgrade knowledge management.

This paper attempts to analyze Korean proverbs with pap 'rice' which plays an important role in the Korean community. I examine to analyze the data under the various frameworks: Grice, lakoff and Langacker. Proverbs use the contrast in order to focus the speaker's intention and to get the convince from hearers. I limited to analyze coordinate sentences since these distinctively show the contrast and the relation. In terms of the contrast and the relation, the semantic interpretations of pap can be easily taken. These semantic interpretations are classified under the Lakoff's metaphors.

Using literary and educational points of view, this study examined the prizewinning poems for children in the Annual Literary Contest sponsored by the Dongah-ilbo and the Chosun-ilbo between the 1970s and 2001. The average age of both male and female writers increased over time, 82% were college graduates, and 54% were educators. All of the poems referred to nature in some ways, either as the major theme(42%) or in passing reference to some aspect of nature(58%). Onomato-poetic words were used in 71% of the poems; similes and metaphors were expressed in 13% and 51%, respectively; 58% were written from a mediator's point of view; 59% were in the present tense; 78% of the space elements were fixed; and 98% were written in free verse. In conclusion, the poems for children of the Annual Literary Contest should be used in literary education with guidelines for the appreciation, creation, and criticism of poems for children.

The purpose of this article is to examine the role of similarity in the metaphor and simile preference and offer empirical evidence against the equivalence view of simile and metaphor. This evidence was obtained from two experiments to examine the correlation between the similarity ratings and the preference ratings. The results suggest that Korean people choose the metaphor form when the similarity of a target and a source increases, whereas they choose the simile form when the similarity of a target and a source decreases. The results from these experiments are consistent with Chiappe and Kennedy's (1999, 2001) findings. Moreover, the experiments found that Korean people were more likely to express particular comparisons as similes over metaphors than American people.
