Hyper Duplex STS 중 Ba 첨가 시 비금속개재물 생성거동 (The Formation Behavior of Non-metallic Inclusion in the Ba-added Hyper Duplex STS)

  • The alkaline earth metal Ba has a relatively low melting point. Because of its significantly high affinity to oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur, it is highly functional as a steel refining agent. But Ba can adversely affect the properties of steel especially the workability, because it can form a variety of inclusions. So, understanding of these inclusions is needed for improvement of the properties of steel. Thus a fundamental study in the formation behavior of non-metallic inclusions in Ba added Hyper Duplex STS melts was investigated. The amount of Ba, holding time and temperature were considered as experimental variables. The number of non-metallic inclusions decreased and the large particle size of non-metallic inclusions increased as the amount of Ba increased. The number of non-metallic inclusions also decreased and the large particle size increased with increased holding times and temperatures of molten steel.

분말고속도공구강으로 만든 분말성형펀치의 손상분석 (Failure analysis of powder compacting punches made of powder metallurgy high speed steels)

  • P/M high speed steels(1.28% C, 4.20% Cr, 6.40% W, 5.00% Mo, 3.10% V, bal. Fe) from two different venders were applied to powder compacting punch. The test results show that failure lifes were very different between two punches. These were no difference in volume fraction and mean size of carbides(MC or M6C) but non-metallic inclusions in two punches. Small amount of non-metallic inclusion in the punch did not greatly affect impact energy and transverse rupture strength (TRS). But, fatigue life was drastically decreased by non-metallic inclusions. These results show that fatigue failure was initated around non-metallic inclusion by cyclic load and the fatigue life was greatly affected by the presence of non-metallic inclusions in the punch.

고장력강 용접열영향부의 지연균열에 미치는 개재물의 영향 (Effect of Non-metallic Inclusions on Heat Affected Zone Delayed Cracking of High Strength Steels by Hydrogen)

  • The effect of non-metallic inclusions on the HAZ hydrogen induced cracking was investigated. Quench and temper high tensile strength steels containing various sulphur contents were employed. The sulphur contents range between 0.007% and 0.040%. Non-metallic inclusions were mainly MnS type sylphide and Mn-Al-Si type. The sensitivity of HAZ delayed cracking was evaluated by implant testing. Diffusible hydrogen content was varied by controlling the moisture absorbing condition of manual arc welding electrodes. The one was asreceived condition, the other was dipping the electrodes in the water for ten minutes. The main results obtained were as follows; 1) The results of implant test showed that critical stress increased with increasing S content up to 0.013%. But steel containing 0.040%S showed lower critical stress than that of 0.013% S. These result suggest that there will be optimum S content to prevent HAZ delayed cracking of high strength steels. 2) Under the lower D.H.C. level, critical stress was increased with rolling reduction, but higher D.H.C. level, effect of rolling reduction was not recognized.

  • The free sintering of metallic powders blended with non sintering inclusions is investigated by the Discrete Element Method (DEM). Each particle, whatever its nature (metallic or inclusion) is modeled as a sphere that interacts with its neighbors. We investigate the retarding effect of the inclusions on the sintering kinetics. Also, we present a simple coarsening model for the metallic particles, which allows large particles to grow at the expense of the smallest.

  • During the cooling process of rail, residual stresses are produced due to the difference of the coefficients of thermal expansion between rail and inhomogeneous non-metallic inclusions such as sulphides and oxides. A micro-mechanical approach is used to obtain the stresses in the inclusions and matrix, After obtaining the stress of an elliptical inhomogeneous inclusion in an infinite domain, average stresses of randomly distributed spherical inclusions are obtained by use of Mori-Tanaka's self consistent method. The magnitude of the calculated residual stress is near to the yield stress of the matrix in case of the spherical inclusions.

  • 박강판의 내부에 존재하는 개재물성 결함을 검사하기 위해 누설자속법을 이용하여 탐상하는 시스템을 개발하였다. 연자성 코어의 보자력을 이용한 차등형 플럭스게이트 자력계를 제작하였다. FEM 소프트웨어를 이용하여 전자석을 설계하였으며, 3축 이동이 가능한 누설자속탐상장치를 제작하여 냉연강판을 검사한 결과 개재물성 결함을 검사학 수 있음을 알았다. 누설자속값을 디지털화하여 2차원 이미지로 처리한 결과 냉연강판에 존재하는 개재물성 결함 이외의 결함을 일부 구분할 수 있음을 알았다.

  • AHydrogen induced cracking (HIC) was phenomenologically studied in terms of the effect of nonmetallic inclusions and hot rolling process parameters. By comparing the level of non-metallic inclusions in two different kinds of commercial grade steels having different HIC resistance, the role of non-metallic inclusions in HIC occurrence was investigated. Change in inclusion morphology and distribution during hot rolling was also studied throughout slab, rolling at austenite recrystallization region (roughing mill; RM) and rolling at austenite non-recrystallization region (finish mill; FM). In addition, the contribution of RM and FM parameters to HIC was investigated from the standpoint of change in inclusion morphology during hot rolling processes. As a result, HIC was closely related to the separation of large complex inclusion during hot rolling process. Large complex inclusions originated from the improper Ca treatment, after which equilibrium composition of slag should have resulted in eutectoid composition. By controlling the equilibrium slag composition equivalent to eutectoid one, HIC resistance could be improved due to the reduced size of inclusions. In addition, change in reduction/pass in RM had an effect on HIC resistance of steels while that in FM did not. Increase in the reduction/pass in the latter stage of RM improved HIC resistance of steels by enhancing the void enclosure around inclusions.

용융 알루미늄내에서 개재물의 크기분포 및 농도측정에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Measurement of the Concentration and the Size Distribution of Inclusions in the Molten Aluminum)

  • The concentration and particle size distribution of non-metallic inclusions which suspended in the molten aluminum at $700^{\circ}C$ were measured by using LiMCA apparatus. The result revealed that the number of inclusions increased with increasing the applied current or decreasing the orifice diameter, while decreased with increasing the purity of aluminum. And also, it was found that the number of inclusions increased with increasing the amount of boron added to molten aluminum. This was found to be attributed to the formation of the inclusions of TiB and $V_3B_2$. It was investigated that the average concentration of inclusions in a constant volume of 20ml of molten aluminum was increased in the order of pure molten aluminum, molten aluminum containing 20ppm of boron and molten aluminum used repeatly in the experimental casting in this study.

  • 고급강은 소비자가 원하는 적절한 조성을 갖추고 있고 비금속 개재물의 제어를 통해 높은 청정도를 지닌 강을 의미하며, 철강 제품의 품질은 2차 정련 공정에서 제어하는 것이 지배적이다. 2차 정련에서는 시간이 흐름에 따라 용강, 슬래그, 비금속 개재물, 내화물 및 합금원소 간의 복잡한 반응이 동시에 일어나기 때문에 공정에 대한 제어가 쉽지 않다. 따라서 이전 연구자들은 2차 정련의 공정 예측을 위해 Kinetic 기반의 시뮬레이션 모델을 발표하였고, 정밀한 공정 예측을 위해 현재까지 발표된 시뮬레이션 모델들의 검토 및 분석이 필요하다. 본 연구에서는 Coupled Reaction 모델 기반의 2차 정련 모델들을 분석 및 검토하였고, 시뮬레이션 결과를 검토하였다.
